    I’m a full blown newbie. New to your channel, new to Pike fishing, new to fly fishing and new to fly tying. Only thing not new is my old retired 65 yr old body 😂.
    Loving your channel. You have tied some very good looking Pike flies. Totally enjoy watching you tie them.
    Just curious if you would consider doing a video dedicated to your tying of a few Pike flies in normal speed? Would be a great tutorial for a new tyer.
    Maybe even a few fly fishing tips as well for us new to the sport.
    Thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge. Totally enjoyable. Tight lines.
    God bless.

    Love your pike videos because they make me reminisce lol. Used to have an awesome pike creek just like the ones in your videos, but a few years ago some local clubs decided to start dumping stocked trout in it, and everyone in the area started fishing it. That's not even the worst part, all the trout fishermen would accidentally catch the pike that were already in there, and instantly kill them "so they don't eat the trout." You'd go down there and the shore would be littered with dead pike, literally. So, needless to say, an awesome pike fishery was ruined by stocked trout bums. True story, this is in southwest PA. I'll never get over this, needed to share the story lol.

      @peelindrag113  5 лет назад +1

      Man that really sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. Luckily these rivers wouldn't hold trout well, although unfortunately there are still guys who like to eat these pike.

    One thing that I've noticed helps me land more pike is when they hit it but don't get hooked, I just leave it and let it sit for a couple seconds and then do a couple quick strips. Sometimes they hit it just to wound or stun it, so they might also take it when it stops. Keep up the great videos, not nearly enough people are making pike fly fishing videos!

    • @penmann4003
      @penmann4003 4 года назад

      Its usually a nice 8/9 fly line strong braided loop and a decent tapered mono leader about 4ft i use 50lb tapered salmon leader using the thicker side make a simple loop then attach a wire trace all can be found on youtube, If you have trouble with the leader not straightening out during casts it could be the length of leader being too long so shorten if thats the case mono leader always helps straighten out conpared to normal line

    Hello,
    I have one more question. Basically have a very similar setup to your typical pike fishing: 8 weight / 9 foot rod with 8 WeightMastery Titan Fly Line.
    The recommended largest fly setup is 1/0 (maximum). If i use a 2/0 or even a 3/0 fly, would that be way too big / heavy?
    My rods an echo ion xl - 9 footer.
    Thank you so much!!!

    • @peelindrag113
      @peelindrag113  3 года назад +1

      I'm not familiar with those fly sizes, unless that's just refering to the hook size. But with that line and an 8wt you can throw some big flies. It'll just be a little more work casting as you go up in size. I've thrown flies as big as 12" with my 8wt, but those are sparsely tied flies that don't hold a lot of water when casting. Hope this helps a bit!
