Perfect interpretation. Exquisite phrasing, solid registration, tempo. This organist nails it.
Well said!
absolutely agree!
What an incredibly talented organist! I have this piece by Bach on CD but I've never heard it played better than here. This young man should have his hands insured. I wonder how old he was when he began playing?
Great kudos also to the team of people who maintain and tune this magnificent instrument.
@@FiveBlackFootedFerrets he started 2 weeks before this video apparently, pretty impressive!
This is absolutely mind blowing.
The fact that humans exist and are able to create music like this makes me understand why people believe in a creator.
That makes no sense. You just said that a human created the music. How does that relate to a creator, other than the faith of the composer?
Your comment does not make any sense. A Creator created the human, and the human created the music. This means that the Creator was such a superior being, that this Creator could create a wonderful human being, so wonderful that this human being could create wonderful music. Now I hope this is clear to you. @@Argumemnon
@@Argumemnon but what created the human ? plants? animals ? but can one get self-conscious creatures, i.e. humans, from merely conscious beings by finite, i.e. darwinian means ; some sort of divine, i.e. creative, infinite means is necessary...no?
Hey all, let's discuss life origins in a JS Bach pipe organ RUclips clip. I bet we'll make great discoveries

The Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565, is a work for organ written between 1703 and 1707 according to musicologists. The imslp attributes it in 1708. In his early days, Bach was a great admirer of Dietrich Buxtehude, to the point of absenting himself for several weeks, while working for the city of Arnstadt, in order to go and listen to him in Lübeck. North German organ works from this period are characterized by the presence of the Stylus phantasticus, derived from improvisation. This one includes heroic passages, with sought-after harmonies and sudden changes of rhythm. The toccata is a musical piece for keyboard instruments in an improvised and virtuoso style involving arpeggios, traits, and pedal. Klaus Eidam puts forward the hypothesis that the work was written in order to severely test the mechanics of the organ as well as the sound and playability of the instrument. Indeed, Bach was shooting all the stops of the organ in order to evaluate the power and the sufficient wind produced by the bellows. This piece would have been originally created for the harpsichord and then transposed to the organ to increase the spectacular effect. Due to the age of the work, there remain many unknowns about the conditions of its composition. Recent musicological works attribute the work to Johann Peter Kellner. However, there is a very broad consensus that the BWV 565 is indeed an original work by J. S. Bach. Certainly a youthful work, it is particularly imprint with the influences the composer loved to imbibe. The resemblance with other works are clear BWV 564 or BWV 566, and the initial formula of three notes more generally called a pinched is found the BWV 538, BWV 540. Generally speaking, the solidity and length of the fugue, particularly the small contrapuntal labyrinth that Bach used, was practically inimitable at the time. *Lucien*

All those facts together are amazing BUT what about our amazing Genius, Creator who gave them the talent for all of this. Bach was an amazing inspiration for one

This is a great version! My favorite is still Karl Richter, but this is definitely up there. It gets really crazy at 6:00, 7:15, 7:40 when the feet and each hand are all playing different melodies simultaneously which seems almost humanly impossible to me.
Many many years ago I had a Deutsche Gramafone LP of Carl Richter. I remember the front picture was of the "Trumpet" pipes of the organ. Perhaps it was the same recording?
@@IO-zz2xy I was actually referring to the video of Karl on RUclips. You can find it under the title:

Just incredible. What depth, complexity and unfolding joy. This piece of music seems to connect all layers of life. High quality performance. Many thanks to both Bach and Dupont.

¡Hola!
Oh! you are so lucky for these experiences. Thanks for your story. 🌹
The reliance on muscle memory is quite impressive in itself, let alone never dropping a note in what I imagine is a difficult and dense score to remember memory and musicality in perfect unison.
For anyone who hasn’t heard this played on a decent organ in a church - you need to. Many years ago I sat and listened pretty much alone in a beautiful church to a fantastic organist (and choir master) play this on a fantastic organ. I can only say that it was both frightening and awe inspiring at the same time. Have a Craven A on me Mr Franconia-Thomas for the memory you left me with ❤
Bro, most enthusiastic agreement. I would fly to Europe again to dick around and enjoy, but really I want to sit in cathedrals and listen. When I was in Europe for vacation, I would go to church on Sundays not because I'm religious but because I love organ. Hearing it was a religious experience.
it’s most certainly is awe inspiring which is probably what defines a religious experience.
I had that experience when I was 13 yo......I just remember that the lowest D played by pedals shaked my bones down to the deep.....all the rest is pure legend.
I would say it’s near perfect, there are a couple of slower notes that should have been played faster but overall it is an outstanding rendition
@@willmorgan1942 Its always the way the player wants to bring it by his feelings and i agree that some notes are not as it should be, but i love it more.... The musik is not made by notes ore a conductor but by the way the player feels and let it feel. My teacher showed me to play with feeling. It is not mathematic he told me.....
When a computer play's it it is not very nice.... So that is the reasan that i think it is very perfect!
I agree that it is a spiritual experience my French friend

J.S.Bach était un génie. Aucun doute là-dessus.
Very moving, emotional here, the face at 7:49 and the way he retracts his hands at the end... He is all music, what a talent!
The fact that he can play this without a music sheet shows me his talent
Edit: a lot of people have been correcting me, thanks for the info! But I know nothing about organs apart from they are cool as shit
It's Bach himself , needs no sheets :)
Any good organist can play this without music sheet. What you've got to praise here is the human beings who invented and built the instrument and the place where it sits.
That's just shows his memory
most musicians have almost everything they perform (especially concerto work) committed to memory. If you watch any professional orchestra, you won't see anyone looking at the music, all eyes are on the Conductor. They know what they're playing.
I am Australian music lover, and Bach, I play piano, but harpsichord and organ are beautiful
