      As someone who just started recovering from an Eating Disorder, this "corny" stuff kinda makes me going despite several downfalls and fear. Lately I've been enjoying cooking again.

      @@Parisalee I have experienced body dysmorphia as well, but if she truly got over it, she wouldn’t still label her child self as the "problem". Its strange how she says to love your body while labeling herself past self as the problem. I didn’t mean to come off rude in my comment. I also am aware of the fact that one can have ptsd about the issue and still feel inferior to the mindset.

    As someone from the Caribbean, there is no such thing as braids or dreadlocks being ‘owned’ by a group of people. If you go to any of the islands, you will see braids on all different types of people. Sharing traditions should be a good thing, sharing cultures should be a good thing. What makes the sharing of cultures so beautiful, is the equality proven. It shows how beautiful our world can truly be if we just put our differences aside and learn from each other, a world without racism. Cultures are not owned, but shared. Thanks for reading ❤️.

However, there wouldn’t be millions of people feeling guilty for exploring certain cultures or being born white because of things that nobody alive today has experienced. Man, we need to move on from the past. I’m tired of being pressured into hating who I am for my skin color (white) and I’m tired that so many black peoples I know get to be outwardly racist towards everybody because their great great grandparents went through something. We should’ve done something in the past. But now that we missed our chance, it’s time to move on with the equality we have now.

    Your braids are beautiful. Wearing braids is not cultural appropriation. While box braids are traditionally associated with black women, I as a black woman love to see our culture being CELEBRATED all over the world. Black women experience discrimination for wearing their braids and this is a problem we have been fighting to stop. We just want to be able to wear our hair without discrimination, and I think as a community we want everyone to be able to enjoy the beauty of black culture.

    Braids don't belong to anyone, vikings had braids, Africans had braids, Asians had braids. Braiding your hair is just a way to put your hair together, it doesn't matter how thin it is or plenty it is. A braid is a braid whether it's Rapunzel style or cornrows 😂

      @@celinemara565 braids are just a method of joining hair. That was my freaking point. Obviously black and white hair textures and different so the methods in which it is used are also different but a braid is still a braid. Take the french braid for example, it's just a bigger version of cornrows. Black hair is too kinky that a french braid style would fall apart quickly and most of the time, their hair is shorter so it doesn't go as well as it does on the other hair textures. A braid is still a braid. If you paid attention, you would see my point

      @@imaginessa1365 that again is not true black people have all types of texture but regardless TRADITIONALLY different regions had different hairstyles belonging to their region i am arab and black and arabs have braids too but they are not cornrows, cornrows, dreads , knotless braids are black and very different from arab braids and white braids the specific hairstyle is cultural depending on hair type, environment, weather even etc that is part of culture and identity you won’t find cornrows in arabs (who are not black) cause its not part of arab culture SO wearing these specific braids is cultural appropriation… you can wear your regions braids period

    As a AFRICAN wear those braids it's a style and it's much appreciated when people outside of my culture do or wear things from it. My grandmother who was born and raised in Ghana loves sending me videos of people who aren't African doing things from our culture lol people who get angry over braids think that every action is an attack.

      🙅 naw don't agree. I appreciate the apology because it's not just the braids. It's the braids, the beads, plus the guy behind her rocking corn rows too with a mean mug. There's NOTHING wrong with a person realizing that they participated in cultural appropriation and stopping and apologizing for it. This don't make her any less cool or any more disliked. She is cool because she is so highly considerate to me. But this comment section tho 😮‍💨🙄. This is exactly why everyone and their cousins feel like they can take a hold of black culture (while gatekeeping their own).     As an African my mom grew up around the coastal area of East Africa where she loved braiding European and other foreign peoples hair and adding sea shells as decoration! It’s sad that you have to apologize for a harmless and innocent thing I find that braids should be loved by everyone other than when it is used in a rude way and not appreciated. You looked gorgeous and I absolutely loved the confidence I got when I was younger after getting my hair braided I’m glad that at-least everyone got to feel that joy❤️

    As a black (Haitian Canadian) person I think you shouldn’t really have to apologize for the braids
    Real cultural appropriation is when people, influencers, companies etc. use aspects from ours or other cultures inappropriately, for personal gain, by stereotyping, exploiting or disrespecting. And that’s straight up not okay.

    African right here, we loooove people trying our culture. When my Mom was younger (living in Congo) she had loooots of white European friends. She used to braid their hair and show them how to dress in "Pagne". They used to love it and everyone had a great time!

    I've been to different countries, and all of them encourage tourists to try out traditional clothes, accessories, and hairstyles. Also, there was a RUclipsr in US who did a social experiment where he wore Chinese traditional clothing and asked around in a university campus if they thought what he was wearing was offensive, and only the non Chinese people were offended by it, the Chinese people said he looked good and it wasn't offensive at all. The younger generation in the US sure gets offended by everything, even those that don't concern them.

I think there is only a very small amount of people who are offended by it, and many of them aren’t even black. When my daughter was little she begged me for braids like her black friend who lived next door. Her mom was so sweet and braided my daughters hair with pretty beads and everything. My daughter was so happy! Cultural appropriation is actually the most bozo and most racist concept I’ve ever heard of. Saying that you can’t do certain hairstyles because of the color of your skin is racist.

      For sure it doesn’t matter if she wears breads, but if she were to wear extensions then it’d be seen as culture appropriation. Braids that deal with extension comes with a ton of history.     Something that helps me with being comfortable at the gym is that in reality, all those yolked dudes and captain america looking people are probably the most accepting and understanding of those still starting on their fitness & health journey. I don't feel weird about not lifting as much as Thor 2.0 next to me because at one point, he was like me

      It's hard, I just had a bad gym experience because of the trainer there, I didn't went back and mourn the loss as the people there were all my age and really easy to get along with and made going to the gym less exhausting.

      @@NicoDoesLP And this is the problem today, it seems many people are being taught that if you aren't part of a culture, to do anything of another culture is stealing their identity. If you go read through the comments, its fucked. It seems most of it comes from people who are descended from a culture but aren't from that culture but trying to identify with it and feel like others enjoying the culture is offensive. Whenever I've seen a person from the actual culture being asked they all seem to think it is great.

      I really thought it's said she felt the need to apologize but that's the times we live in... I grew up in the 90's and had my hair till below my butt. Obviously as a small child I wasn't able to take care of my hair on my own so whenever we went to a camp for like a week my mum used to do some conrows for the top part ending it in boxbraids and I always felt so special cause it took forever and I always looked forward to not having to do anything with my hair for the full week and ending it in beautiful waves the day we opened them.
      We had only one mixed kid in our class (otherwise only foreigners were like italians and turks) and I literally didn't even know what the difference of ethnicities was at this point. I just knew she was nice to me and had "a very strong tan" all year around 😂

    Quick side note, as a black girl, there is no appropriation of braids. That style is worn across many cultures that aren’t darker skinned. Them braids was cute. And anyone who would bother a CHILD about their hair needs to be disciplined. I’ll be the one to do it 😂

    I’m black and I don’t think there is a need to apologize for the braids! In regards to eating, keep doing what you are doing! If you feel good, that’s what counts! And, if you are doing exercise that you enjoy, it makes it that much easier for you to do it! Most importantly, we as women, have got to start living ourselves and stop being such critics of our bodies! They are beautiful, string and capable of things that only we can do and live to tell about it…childbirth …lol. Compliment yourself every damn day!

      Especially in Mexico since those braids were probably done by a native that takes pride in their work as well as got paid for their services. Also before someone says something, cornrows were also independently created by indigenous ppl of the new world before they ever had contact with anyone from Africa.
