Season 9 basically is you loading into a server just to find it full with all ships fighting eachother over a world event no matter what it is. It's almost unplayable with how packed the servers are, you'd think a QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATE wouldn't bring in a flood of people if so, the most amount of concurrent players I've seen in the games 5 years. Nothing changed..... and yet everyone is flooding into the servers it's mind baffling and frustrating knowing you literally can't get a single thing done.. no matter what you do.
But if everyone is going after the world events, isn't this the best time to work on things like commendations and the like, especially if you're not as fond of PvP?
@Jon Bardcore I hear you and agree but even then there's so many people on a server that they will hunt you down just because. I'm not afraid of pvp by all means, I just think it's annoying to get nothing done bc everyone just chases you and wants to fight despite there being an hourglass game mode specifically for that. I'm more curious as to why so many people are flooding the servers when nothing was added, just tweaks and it isn't game breaking tweaks. Definitely good tweaks but not to this extent. I've had many others who said the same thing and a lot of streamers even say it's a lot more hectic which is good content wise, but not if you want to just chill out. This game can't be pvp all the time just like they say it can't be just pve all the time.
@@schwartzybuisness I agree, balance is key! As far as why so many people are playing the game again, it usually pops like this at the start of a season. We'll see in a month or so what the trend is.
The harpoon feature is nice but I've played since gunpowder skeletons so everytime I harpoon loot I forget I don't need to get off and I panic when I don't see the loot on the harpoon. Then I look down and go "oh yea, I forgot"
The harpoon didn't change anything for me and my friend, because one use the harpoon and the other picks the tresure to place everything in either a safe spot and some other stuff
That should not be possible since the launch of Season 9. All loot drops on deck. The only time it doesn't is when it's meant to be collected like barrels and ammo pouches.
I think some of the voyages should be balanced to the crew doing it a bit so the ghost fleet oos voyage should be slightly balanced will lower fire rates and less ships and same for legend of the veil with less ships and lower fire rates at the end part just to make those 2 possible for solo players to complete more easily
Ikr? Me, my brother, and my cousin have been briging together and every session has been intense and adventurous! Even the ones that started with just fishing eventually developed into a 3v2 alliance battle for an ashen lord (my cousin is going for the captain Grimm commendation)
Ghost fleet balance: this event is the same encounter for everyone. It was mentioned officially, i feel like, but i cant find or prove my source, sorry about that. Ashen winds is definetly as fast as a treasury now, probably faster. The new scaling works with 'players at/on island' multipliers. But with no island... (this is where i start talking out my ass) the entity of 'sea' always sees all the players, im willing to bet. [Edit;typos]
@@JonBardcore thats also probably the same it was. Solo sloop is supposed to struggle against a galleon chucking curses at you, so its genuinely hard to gauge this. If youve got a single skelly galley, do what you can to get cannonballs at lower deck. Try and shoot a blunder every third to keep them off repairs. Regardless, the power play is this. Harpoon the galley. Bail your water onto them. Try and keep fire on their cannon line. Fire is just a bother in pvp; skellys genuinely fear it (Skelly)Sloops give me next to no naval difficulty. If you struggle, anyone, go to order of souls and do ghost fleets. (Note; this is seperate than the one that looks like skinny veil. I said ghost fleet to refer to both the event and the OoS voyage; sorry to confuse) Captains can buy the level 25 voyage in bulk. Youll be shocked how confident and competent you become. Further, i think, meg/kraken scale to your ship as before. I think it was ten balls for sloop, 20 if brig, 30 for galley. I can solo brig but used to mean i had a tougher fight against megs. ... dont qoute me on all this. The only thing i was SURE about is new scaling at ashen winds/forts [Edit; huge thumbs, again]
I needed this vid for some perspective. I was feeling pretty sour about season 9 with the lackluster rewards and the removal of the red sea escape option...but I suppose some of the changes are pretty good after all. Thanks mang!
This game really does need an anticheat. Started playing again after about 2 years and the amount of people who mysteriously are able to track you across the entire map without having a reaper emissary is baffling. At least now i can get my loot back on my ship a lot quicker when i see someone coming up on me at an outpost
@@JonBardcore I don’t think that they did anything, yesterday I had two servers in a row where people just had divine knowledge of what was going to happen before it happened. The game really doesn't need anything like a Pirates Life again, what we need is more standard voyages. How is NOONE talking about this? Rare makes tons of adventures recently but releases next to no voyages. The only ACTUAL voyage we got in years is the Legend of the Veil. How is noone acknowledging how CRIMINAL it is that in a 5 year old game, the trading companies only have 2 voyage types, one of which is clearly superior, thus they effectively only have a single voyage type. For player retention and just a non stale game experience, the game NEEDS more voyages for every company. Rare needs to work on adding AT LEAST 3 voyages on about the level of the gold hoarder vaults, nothing crazy like Legend of the Veil needed, to EVERY COMPANY. So that when you log on you don't have all of them for choice and it's a surprise every time which ones the companies offer you today. And they need to be balanced to be about equally efficient. Maybe make the longer ones a liiittle more gold efficient since you need to invest more time into them. But the way it currently stands, there is no voyage variety whatsoever. NONE. Anyways, great video mate, happy you're having fun. Sadly for me, the QoL updates aren't enough when I've already done all the content over and over and over again and Rare refuses to add anything new outside of the adventures WHICH THEY DELETE 2 WEEKS AFTER. Seriously, focusing THIS MUCH on time limited content, which they obviously put A LOT of work into, just feels like throwing away content instead of adding permanent content into the game. Rare confuses me. For every adventure they made, they could've made 1-2 new PERMANENT voyage types q.q
Do you have any Voyage ideas you want to share? For me, I think the company that needs the most TLC in that regard is the OOS. Especially now that Ghost Fleet is back as a world event
@@JonBardcore First off, the Order of Souls should have gotten the Soulflame Skull voyage, not Athenas, it's a literal Skull with Flames of Fate which you get from the ferry of the damned in it. Would've been a perfect fit for OOS even if it's just a tiny voyage. Now some random ideas: For OOS maybe do smth that combines the treasuries and vaults. Basically we locate skeleton crypts in a little goose hunt, then when we uncover and open them, it's a big battle in there against all the skeletons who we've disturbed in their graves. Just like vaults these can be put in the geometry of many islands. For GH I'd want a more creative way to look for treasure other than "x marks the spot". Maybe you find sunken treasure. Or maybe with the lore developments atm we can have ghost related stuff. Like the voyage could be that the veil between the realms is tearing slightly in certain places and the gold hoarders want us to profit from it. So we end collecting clues and going to some island where there would be ghosts coming out of the sea of the damned and we would kill them and steal their riches, the ghost type treasure chests specifically. For MA we could actually do the lost shipment run, but we are the shipment. So we have to get a big pile of cargo to a certain outpost but you need to take certain checkpoints on the route. Talk to an NPC on an island that gives you another item to sell along the way. Maybe force Kraken/Meg/Skelly attacks on the seas to stop you. Or maybe a Reaper NPC ship to attack you and try to steal your cargo. And the goal is to get to the outpost safely and deliver your cargo. For RB, and yes I would want a proper RB voyage, I would say the coolest option would, again, be related to lost shipments. What if you get a voyage where you need to intercept a shipment? Like the game spawns an NPC merchant ship which functions exactly like a Skelly Galleon but with human NPCs on it and a proper clean ship. You have to find them, possibly sink their hired ships to protect them and then attack and rob them. Maybe you can even find the key on their ship and throw the loot overboard without having to sink them. But a RB voyage that makes you go and steal loot from humans would be dope. This game is about piracy, and literally ZERO VOYAGES have you commit piracy. These are just a few ideas that came to mind when reading your question. I am sure the actual game devs at Rare could do much better and much more. It just seems they don't have their priorities straight and expect a game to grow without even having much content after 5 years of development. Sure, the verans may stay, but easily 95% of the potential playerbase will quickly get bored and not want to do the same old mission for the 200th time. So I think Rare is really losing so many casual players with that. And steam charts support this by saying SoT always gets an influx of new players with big updates, especially a Pirates Life and then quickly loses most of them. SoT has very bad player retention. And I think there are 2 big reasons for it 1: Voyage variety, so even if people like it, a casual player won't stick around if he completed every voyage the game has multiple times already. 2: PvP. I do NOT want Rare to change this. But their marketing makes many people think this game isn't as constantly dangerous as it is. And as such most people in this game just give up on the game completely after losing their loot to another player crew a couple times. Rare needs to make the PvP aspect much more clear in their marketing. But the way this game handles PvP shouldn't change. It's good. Aaaaaanyways, very long comment, hope you at least find my ideas interesting. Have a good day mate.
Wow, some great suggestions Ardyn! Especially the RB voyage suggestion. I really hope that we do get proper NPC crews like the Grand Maritime Union, into the game eventually. Meant to respond a little earlier but tied down with editing. :D
@@JonBardcore No issues, I never expect answers from people that I don't have to do with irl anyways, especially not fast ones :'D Those suggestions were really just off the top of my head, I usually don't make up actual voyages when thinking about my complaints, as I don't work at Rare so my suggestions won't change anything anyways, so I don't waste the time. My point is, I just thought them up in 2 minutes so Rare, with their professional team, can likely do MUCH btter, their priorities are just all messed up. I will never top being confused about how much time and effort they put into adventures, just to delete them 2 weeks later.
How do you get everything off ship on the dock so neat and quickly? Also can other people steal your loot off the dock/ship? Im new to the game and just solod an ashen lord event, didn’t know you could harpoon loot so I spent like 20 mins loading and unloading treasure chests for the loose stuff, and dealing with the exploding fire chest. That was fun. What stressed me out was when I was turning in loot someone else was dancing on my ship! I don’t know if they took anything.
Once you have a captained ship, you'll be able to sell direct to the Sovereigns and use their harpoons to bring the loot off the ship and onto the dock. And yes, your loot can absolutely be stolen off of your ship or even at dock. Just remember: It's not your loot until it's sold. :D Welcome to the Sea of Thieves! No it didn't. There are some good QOL changes, yes, but it didn't make soloing easy at all. You still get hit by multiple enemy world events at the same time, you still end up with 5/6 players at the same place (not world events), skellies are now more lethal and smarter, the bugs are now weirder, etc
I haven't seen multiple world events yet, unless you're talking about things like megs & skelly ships which you could arguably sail away from. There will always been other players on the seas but how you deal with them can vary. They should just add a pve mode for those like me who don't give a F to pvp and only loot and forts, it's annoying being doing fine on things and some idiot comes and all the hard work goes to crap.
They definitely shouldn't do that. Even if they did add it, it would be heavily criticzed and they would have to do reduced payouts, and certain restrictions because low risk means low reward. Also, it won't stop players from attempting to be toxic. You're just gonna have to suck it up and realize you're playing Sea of THIEVES; a PIRATE game.
I don't think a pure PVE mode will ever happen but have you ever tried to engage in diplomacy with your fellow pirates? Maybe get an organic alliance going? That could help out your cause a bit
I just made a video last week on this topic and while I don't disagree that the purpose of the sandbox game is to create your own adventure, it doesn't necessarily mean the default answer *has* to be thievery, deceit and PvP. Friendship and camaraderie can be found on the seas too!

Your constant paranoia goes to show exactly why I never play this solo, haha. I buddy bought me SoT to play with him, and I'll never play if he's not on. Too many bad encounters with other players in this game, and too many bad experiences in games like RDR2 where I tried to play solo only to get ganked while trying to live my best PvE life, haha.
I'd argue that Reaper is probably the most inefficient way to level renown these days considering that you're relying on other crews to have enough loot and that you'll be able to defend it yourself
Sorry you feel that way! Edit: I'm going to try this again and interpret this as constructive criticism. There is a lot more that was discussed than just "random encounters" We talked about the auto-harpoon, the world event scaling & yes, the random encounters happening more frequently and scaled toward player count. @@schwartzybuisness I agree, balance is key! As far as why so many people are playing the game again, it usually pops like this at the start of a season. We'll see in a month or so what the trend is.
@@JonBardcore yes I agree it will probably eventually die down as the weeks go on!
The harpoon feature is nice but I've played since gunpowder skeletons so everytime I harpoon loot I forget I don't need to get off and I panic when I don't see the loot on the harpoon. Then I look down and go "oh yea, I forgot"
Hahaha, yeah that happened once or twice for me so far too!
Sovereign it literally puts on the lift, like a little chefs kiss

Interesting, good to know. Wonder what that means for skelly fleet
Fire is just a bother in pvp; skellys genuinely fear it
(Skelly)Sloops give me next to no naval difficulty.
The only thing i was SURE about is new scaling at ashen winds/forts
[Edit; huge thumbs, again]
this has genuinely been my favorite update
It's definitely something that I think many people underestimated

This game really does need an anticheat.
@@JonBardcore
First off, the Order of Souls should have gotten the Soulflame Skull voyage, not Athenas, it's a literal Skull with Flames of Fate which you get from the ferry of the damned in it. Would've been a perfect fit for OOS even if it's just a tiny voyage.
Now some random ideas:
For OOS maybe do smth that combines the treasuries and vaults.
And I think there are 2 big reasons for it
1: Voyage variety, so even if people like it, a casual player won't stick around if he completed every voyage the game has multiple times already.
@@JonBardcore
No issues, I never expect answers from people that I don't have to do with irl anyways, especially not fast ones :'D
Those suggestions were really just off the top of my head, I usually don't make up actual voyages when thinking about my complaints, as I don't work at Rare so my suggestions won't change anything anyways, so I don't waste the time.
My point is, I just thought them up in 2 minutes so Rare, with their professional team, can likely do MUCH btter, their priorities are just all messed up.
I will never top being confused about how much time and effort they put into adventures, just to delete them 2 weeks later.
it's more fun as solo PVE in S9, definitely!
100%. Roll up and less than ten minutes later you're moving loot!
Did you just sell a Disney stick? You can sell those now? I was told you can't sell them.
Starting in Season 9 you can!
Question: why do y not use any skins for your items?
I'm planning on having the viewers choose them with me during a subscriber special!

Sorry you feel that way! Edit: I'm going to try this again and interpret this as constructive criticism. There is a lot more that was discussed than just "random encounters" We talked about the auto-harpoon, the world event scaling & yes, the random encounters happening more frequently and scaled toward player count. All of which make the game easier to play solo compared to previous seasons.
But I will take your feedback and apply it to future videos as an opportunity to better state my position and points. Thank you and though it sounds like you've blocked my content I hope you find content on Sea of Thieves you do enjoy watching. Thanks!
🤣 sea of thieves never gonna prefer solo play
Oh, it's never going to be preferred, absolutely. But in terms of the game mechanics, at least at the time of this video, things were on the up and up for solos.
"some players don't like the change, because it decrease teamwork", omg f@ck those players, really :D Hope RARE will never listen people like them. There is a big difference between quality of life/enjoyment and unnecessary complications :D
I mean, I understand a bit where they are coming from but yeah, as a solo primarily it's such a nice feel.
ohhh is that gonna stop ppl from griefing while i just fish, just to sink my boat for shits and giggles....no it isnt
If you're just going to spend time fishing, I recommend a rowboat or fishing off a seapost or seafort! Get a storage crate with you to keep the fish and use the seafort to cook it all.
@@JonBardcore i do fish off seaports or close by
@@JonBardcore ima solo slooper and im too paranoid to do missions cause ppl will take my shit while im on island
@@weegmon How about Merchant Commodity runs or Trade Goods? Great way to make some gold while sticking close to your ship!
