  • While viewing the bird camera footage, I noticed something fascinating, one of the house finches was doing something strange. It had rotated its head to the side at what appeared to be a painful angle. This is a finch I see often throughout the day, and if I had not seen it immediately after this clip and several times throughout the day, I would have thought that something was wrong with it.
Most birds have minimal eye movement, so they rotate their heads when looking at things. It was a bit interesting to see the finch do this. I have mainly seen birds of prey do similar things, as do some of the chickens my parents raised when I was a child. I know that owls can rotate their heads up to 270 degrees; however, not all birds have that same range.
I enjoyed watching the birds that visited the feeders and were very happy to see the chickadees, nuthatches, and titmouse come around a bit more. It appears they are also loving the fruit, nut, and seed blend.

Thanks for stopping by. I thought I would be here when it premiered; however, I had to pick up a few items. :)

I'm in Maryland, USA. I've started seeing them a lot, and it's fascinating to see them at the feeders. They typically arrive in the early morning and return mid-afternoon.
