I think Ice Cube has a point. It's pretty much useless to teach kids not to swear when they learn it from their parents and peers anyway. The best thing you can do is to teach your kid when it's appropriate and when it's not.

I agree with him. Most kids will probably learn most curse words before they even leave elementary school. You probably won't be able stop them from saying them at some point, but teaching them when it's appropriate to do and why people do it will help.

It was the unspoken policy when I was growing up. Adults cuss when ever they want, kids with each other only. Never got into trouble cussed all the time, just never around the adults. They probably heard us every now and then, but we knew never to do it directly in their presence and we never got in trouble.

Cursing isn't a crime though. I'm sure he's also teaching his kids the difference between right and wrong and that saying certain words is different than breaking laws. Think a bit deeper rather than blindly taking something at face value.

He is SO right about this. The new generation of kids isn't dumb, they will and I can sign any paperwork to guarentee they will learn curse words anyway through the internet or just by hanging out with other kids, the only way to help this is to just tell them when and when not to act in a certain way. This way, they will actually behave better knowing their parents understand them and have found a way for them around that.

TBH I think a lot more parents should be like Cube when it comes to cursing, because it's definitely true that kids will start cursing at a young age. I was strictly taught by my parents not to swear and I would get punished if I did, but even so I still did swear when I was alone with friends, but I still to this day do not swear when my family is around and I'm 27 now. So he's right kids will swear no matter how strict they are raised not to swear, so him teaching his kids when it's okay to swear makes sense.

That's actually the most logical answer to cussing and yes I'm old say cussing, that I've ever heard. When to do it and where to do it because they're going to do it anyway. Showing them when it's appropriate is the key. Everybody has a group of friends where they act out and that's when it actually appropriate to not seem like a square.
