Hi everyone, at 03:54 please ch 28 if you're making a size small! So sorry for the wrong ch count. As always I recommend making this cardigan with the written pattern so you can get the exact stitch count for your size :) - forthefrills.com/crochet-briar-oversized-pocket-cardigan-free-pattern-video-tutorial
What alternative yarn would you recommend? I'm struggling to find an aran yarn that recommends 6mm hook, I can only find 5mm (knit gauge 18 stitches and 24 rows). Can I use this but expect that the size would be bigger or smaller? I just want to make sure I'm making the right size 😊 TIA
Hi Charlie, the yarn I used is classified as an aran yarn but I think its closer to a chunky/bulky yarn. I'd recommend looking for a yarn that is suitable for a 6mm hook (regardless if its classified as 'aran' or chunky). Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky should work well. Grace :)
@@forthefrills Thank you so much 😊
Hello your vedio is amazing 😍 i wanna start but i've no idea how much yarn i'm gonna need, any help?
Is it possible to make this cardigan with 3 ply yarn?
Me, having only crocheted once in my life, watching this at 1 am: 👁👄👁
You just explained my current situation perfectly.... but when I tell you I’m gonna make thisssss
Alida Bbs yes. It is therapy for me. I don’t really like getting too personal with my parents. I haven’t even told them I’m making a project. AAAAHA
You're not alone 🤣 I think my husband is ready to throw my yarn and hooks out

This was the beat tutorial I’ve ever followed! It was able to make this piece in a week with work and school. I’ve never been happier with a piece and plan on making some with my family.
Just finished the second sleeve and about to move on to the harder part. It’s been so easy so far! Loving your video and the written pattern has helped so very much!!
I'm almost done with my second sleeve now
Can't wait to have the final result!😁
Yay! The feeling that you're almost at the end if the best :)
how much yarn did it take you to make this?
@@annmariajelish8590 I'm using the same heartland yarn, I bought 5 skeins for an XS as I am on the petite side. Each skein is 142g (250m), meaning I am using 710g (1250m), I am also wanting to do the hemline ribbing, I'll update when I'm done as to how much yarn I have left.
@@emilyblossom5643 Did you make it?
The pattern was easy to follow and my cardigan turned out great I added some extra rows to the back panel, front panels, and the sleeves since I'm kind of tall and now it fits perfectly I will definitely use more of these patterns
I like how easy and simple you demonstrate this pattern. No exsessive babbling to take away from getting to the main points.
Thank you! I find videos with a long introduction hard to watch too :)
This took me 9 months to make (I procrastinated so much and made so many mistakes lol) and I love it!! I added some flowers on the pockets! This was my first sweater/cardigan ever and I’m glad I started with it since it’s so simple! Thank you for the pattern + video :D

I love this pattern and I am definitely going to make it. I too have been itchy to get a larger hook into my hands from making summer items and yes my hand aches as well when I use a smaller hook. Thank you so much for this pattern
Thanks for watching :) yes no matter what I try smaller hooks always make my hands ache!
Thanks for this wonderful video and clear instructions. I will be making this cardi for my granddaughter and shortening the length quite a bit (to her liking), using pink for the body, and lavender for the sleeves and pockets. I love the Heartland yarn...I'm finishing up an afghan for my husband with it and it is so soft has great drape.

I think a slip stitch cuff would look AMAZING on this cardigan! Now to figure out how to accomplish it! 😂😃🥰
I haven't done a whole project before but here I am attempting this. Yikes
You can do it!!!!
Awesome amazing 😲😲
I did 66 stitches but the whole thing came out ginormous 😀
Thanku😍😍😍😍
saving this for myself 😂
11:18 pockets of the cardigan
Thank you very much learn us keep goning 😚😍😚😚😚😚❣❣❣
In case anyone was wondering I made this with size 4 yarn and used a little less then 700 grams in the size xs
Those scissors are my favorite
👌👌 Thank you!
Very Nice 👌👍😍
Very prety fantastic 😚😍😍😍
amazing
already done the body. Started on the sleeves. BTW, the foundation chain should be 29 since row 1 is starting on the 3rd stitch and you want to end up with 26 stitches :)
I followed the directions for an extra small, but used a different kind of yarn. It came out larger than the picture of yours. I love the feel of my cardigan in Fuchsia with black edges.
Sounds gorgeous! Yes whenever you use different yarn the results can be different but I'm glad it worked out and you're happy with the result.
Thank you very much. So far, I've had a few comments on the cardigan.
I'm mediocre at crochet so I kinda skipped thru a bit to get a general idea alright I cant wait to start my cardigan
Hi, I am making this and so far it gone good. I just made one big mistake and it’s too late to turn back and redo. I made the stitches to tight for the back panel and front right panel. For the front right panel I ended up with 65 rows but when I realised my mistake, I did it properly and ended up with 62 rows instead of 66 rows for the front right panel. I did this to make it even. Although i made a few mistakes it still looks good and I’m happy with the result. It is no longer an oversized cardigan, but a regular fitted cardigan. This is my first project as I am a beginner and I urge you to try as it is very simple. BTW I’m making a small.
Hey! How many grams of yarn did u use for making the hole cardigan?
Has anyone ever told you that you sound exact like leliana from dragon age?😝😝😝
Its very relaxing hearing your voice!
Great pattern. The only drawback for me is the width and length of the sleeves. I would also add a bigger border round the fronts and neck. xxxx
Thanks Pam! Since these are balloon sleeves, you can easily crochet the sleeves for a size or two smaller than your normal size, if you'd like them to have a smaller width. Length is completely customisable as you can stop crocheting once you reach your desired length :) A thicker border also sounds like a great option!
This is my first time making a sweater and your video and pattern is so easy to follow. I have all the pieces made and am ready to assemble. Do I sew it together from the right side or wrong side? Thanks so much!
Love this cardigan...thank you for sharing 🧶🧶🧶😊
Thanks for watching!
I finished all of my pieces can I whip stitch them together instead? I love this pattern
Hi great pattern I’ve just purchased written pattern from Etsy I’m a bit confused where to start front right panel after I’ve worked the back panel many thanks In advance
Thank you for the tutorial! In the blog post, I can’t seem to find the instructions for the back panel. Unless I’m missing it, it looks like you forgot to include that. I do best when being able to read the instructions and hope you add this part soon. Thank you!
I’m late, but the back panel is mentioned first. I hope you made it and had fun!!
