Ted Greene plays “People” during a private concert at the North Hollywood home Alec Silverman in July of 1975.
Playing before a group of about 15 guitarists, a young 28-year-old Ted charms and dazzles them with his lush harmonies, fanciful intros, interludes, and endings, swinging walking bass, modulations galore, conversational inner voice movements and counterpoint, breathtaking waves of shimmering harp-harmonics, and a general mastery of the guitar. Originally recorded on tape, now preserved on digital, it is sure to inspire generations of guitar players. This recording is made available compliments of Mark Thornbury.
“People” - music composed by Jule Styne with lyrics by Bob Merrill for the 1964 Broadway musical “Funny Girl” starring Barbra Streisand, who introduced the song.
