With long reaches I often practice the move with my eyes closed. I have seen blind people playing like they are sighted. If they can play blind and play better the many of us sighted players. How much better you will play if you practice to play with your eyes closed.

It’s a good strategy especially later on when you can play things accurately.

you're the first person to say play on the edge of the keys, something I have never considered and I can understand how this would relate to fingering
this concept of the arc as opposed to sliding to the higher notes is new to me too
the fragments of the pieces you choose are so perfectly appropriate for the concept you are trying to show us, especially debussy for the video about triplets

Beautifully presented, Ashlee! People need to realize that understanding and mastering lateral movement and proper wrist rotation while playing doesn’t just improve speed and accuracy-it’s also a fundamental technique for maintaining rock-solid rhythm, and for capturing that magical sense of flow and feeling while playing. 😊😊😊😊 Playing the piano can make you better, but learning to dance and move with it can make it sing…

This video is very interesting, and offers options for different size hands. I have very small hands and short fingers, and I cannot meet all the demands that I was given by my teachers in my youth in music school. Now I play my way, and I am able to enjoy playing again.

Very interesting. I agree with the commenter below about playing on the edge of the keys. I've never heard that before. I'm going to try it but most advanced players I watch are 'deep' into the keys. I find it difficult to generate power at the back of the keys so the 'edge concept' is appealing. Thanks for the provocative concepts.

Anyone who is advanced that you’re watching is applying advanced techniques they learned AFTER they learned to develop control on the edge of the keys. 😉

Hi Ashlee I found this lesson very helpful to stop playing like a robot and to start playing like a human with feeling, I was the one that said you are the best teacher on you tube, not really trying to give you a compliment more just stating facts as I’ve gone down the rabbit hole on trying to improve my playing by using the free lessons on RUclips I would use your
Other platforms to improve but can’t afford them at mo but very grateful you post often, keep up the good work and don’t stop, I feel like I am amateur at mo but heading towards intermediate level thank you so much, josh 🇳🇿
