Painting Demonstration Mixed Media Collage Still Life

- This painting demonstration shows how I use paper collage and acrylic to create a textural and colourful still life painting. Materials used are Light Modelling Paste (Gerstaecker) Heavy Body Acrylic Paints (Daler Rowney) PVA Glue, various papers. I hope you enjoy watching and subscribe to my channel where you will find more videos of my paintings in progress.

Sylva you are a fabulous imaginative and creative artist. After watching you create one of your street scenes with papers, I tried my hand at one and found it turned out ok for a first try but very difficult. Would love to show you my attempt.

I love your work and the nice slow pace of the music on this video. I do wish the video were the same slow pace as the music (but I understand 'fast' means 'more' and I wouldn't have wanted any of it to be left out!)
Hello Bonnie yes it is a bit fast but it's the only way to show the whole progress of the work. I can try and do one in real time but just use clips so it is not too long. It might take a few weeks until I have time to do it but I'll have a go. Thanks so much for your feedback. Best wishes Sylvia
Wonderful! I have always cut images and made abstracts by their placement on the canvas. I love the way you use the papers as paint, so to speak. I must try this! Do you spread PVA glue on both sides of a piece? Or, if an area of canvas is wet do you skip gluing the backside of a paper? Thanks for your videos!
Gay Jegers hi I always make sure there is plenty of PVA applied to the paper as it needs to be well stuck down. The PVA mixes well with the paint.thanks for watching

Grannycowpastures hello Pat I did this out of my head with no drawing or set up in front of me. I had a vague idea of the subject but I find that during the painting process ideas come to me. Sometimes the collage papers suggest a direction too. Hope that makes sense.
