Great information but I have to say I completely disagree about the socks. For me, injinji toe sock liners and darn tough merino wool hiking socks are my go to.
I think over packing is a natural reaction to the unknown , I read a funny comment about Pilgrims are the ones who look homeless which in a sense you are . Thank you for sharing
My aunt lives in Bilbao (Basque country - a region of Spain) so I mailed it within the country! Yes otherwise it would have been best to send to Santiago and pick up at the end of your trip. Great point.
omg yes! i had a rain coat! oops. This is the one I had. It worked great and I got a lot of compliments. I also had hiking sticks which I also forgot to mention. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08ZXK5HCY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Wow, your pack must have weighed a lot. That's a lot of unnecessary stuff. No rain gear? On all of my Caminos, I had rain and lots of it. I would never walk the Camino without trekking polls.
I think initially it weighed around 15 pounds so I was a little over the recommended 10% of body weight. I did have a rain coat and poles! I forgot to mention both 🤦♀️ oops. After I shipped some items i’m sure i was good.

Packing as we speak!
When you say "sending it back", didn't that cost a lot? Would it be cheaper to send to Ivar's office in Santiago?
