Samsung Z Fold 4, pros and cons in trading in my Galaxy S22 Ultra

- Samsung offers $1000 to trade in a Galaxy S22 Ultra for a new Z Fold 4. A very tempting offer that I took a chance on. Not the first time I gambled on something out of the ordinary. Here is my thought process in either keeping the Z Fold 4, or returning it and going back to my S22 Ultra.
My last try at going to something different. • Moving from the Galaxy...

Dude, the multi-tasking, gaming and multi-media experience is soooooo much better on the Fold than on the S22 Ultra.
I left the Note 20U for the Fold 3. Loved it. Cameras were good enough for me. I've upgraded to the Fold 4 and gave my Fold 3 to my mother. I'm gonna stay Foldable for the foreseeable future.
Folds are too heavy and cameras are inferior
@@noventay4 it's not too heavy and the camera is just fine for me. I'm not out here taking pictures for a major publication.
@@qfrizell816 your note 20 ultra weighted 208gr the fold 4 weights 263 yes it is heavy much more when you add one of the Samsung cases, only the carbon fiber would make it acceptable but Samsung didn't launch one this year.
@@noventay4 that 53 grams means nothing to me. The device isn't heavy to me...
@@qfrizell816 good for you but even Samsung recognizes they're too heavy and they reduced the weight of the fold 4 coming from the 3. And it will keep losing weight with each new version because that's what ergonomics dictate.
A week ago, I would've said man you blew it, you should have kept the S22U, but now I'd say you absolutely made the right choice, I'm learning that this fold really grows on you, and I now understand people who say it would be hard to go back to a typical boring slab phone, this fold is really an engineering marvel 😁
Absolutely. I'm thinking I would have been ok with the z fold 3, but I was still wary about a foldable
P
Honestly glad I went with the 22ultra. Fold 3 lost its luster
Definitely can see how that's the case for a lot of people.
Great video! Already own a zfold 4, just a RUclips watcher and came across your channel. Well done.
Thank you. How are you liking it so far?
Same situation. Traded in my S22 Ultra for a Flip4. Then I bought the Fold4. Love the foldable feel, and that screen!!! It's mesmerizing. I got a silicone case with a strap, and the usability even while walking has improved considerably. It's a tough decision and Samsung is really bringing it..and I think the new Snapdragon chip is giving me better overall performance and controlling overheating. I'm going to sell my Flip4 and give the Fold4 more time. I want to get a ton of photos and really test out the cameras. The S22 Ultra could go down in price for Black Friday if by then you want to go back.
Great video and excellent comparison! 😊
Loved your delivery. Thanks for the fair and honest perspective
Thank you. I appreciate your comment.
Just found your channel. I want to say thank you for helping me with my decision
I'm happy I could help, whichever direction you decided to go.
The Z Fold 4 is a game changer. I had a 2 and a 3 but the 4 has many minor improvements that make this device a must have for me. The new processor is very fast and the battery life is more than respectable. The new operating system is awesome and the hinge is amazing. Samsung is miles ahead of the competition. If only their customer service was better. Samsung customer service experience is disgraceful however, the hardware is so good that you rarely need to deal with them.
Cool to hear from a Fold 3 owner. There was a lot said about how almost nothing changed but I'm sure that again comes down to individual priorities.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo they changed so many little things that it ended up being a big thing. It's very impressive and worth every penny
Very cool and practical review. Liked and subscribed
Thanks
I'm happy you liked it!
ZFOLD for life I’ll never go back to any other phone! Everyone I know that has a ZFOLD says the same!
Update : I finally gave in and traded in my s22ultra for the fold3. I don't take pictures that often but when I do I miss the s22ultra. Other than that though I'm enjoying the fold. I watch a lot of media content and the beautiful oled screen of the fold really shines in that department. If ever I will be upgrading next time, it will also be a fold. Probably next year when the fold5 comes out. I hope it comes out with even better cameras than the 4.
Happy you're enjoying what you bought! I can see where the Ultra is the better way to go for some, but for me this is the one
Great review - and awesome mop of hair! Does it fold the other way too, instead of to the right?
Very nice, I was close to buying the fold 4 but with the flip 4 instead. Traded my S22Plus for it. I know it may have not been the smartest trade in but I enjoy what the flip 4 offers
Mine was the ppc6700, I custom flashed a new ROM and it was awesome for it's day.
This seems really interesting as I'm considering a separate tablet for going through game guides & such when I need to look something up vs using my pixel 5 for everything & seems like this might cover both options.
For things like that, comics, graphic novels it's really incredible. Especially considering it's always in your pocket
I was given the Fold 2 for my work phone. Total game changer just like you said. While I don't have the Fold 4, I cant beat free. The form factor is the same as your presenting here, and I am in 100% agreement - opening up the fold into a tablet is a GREAT experience. But I know people out there don't care for that. Another Co-worker of mine got the Fold 2 for free too (for work of course). He utterly hates it hahaha. But he didn't dislike it because of the screen. He's just misses his previous phone - Apple. Me - I use both. Personal phone is an iPhone, and my work phone is the Fold 2. I've been so impressed with it I may jump back out of Apple and into Samsung for my personal phone too. But since I kind of already have both anyways... seems redundant for me to that. Non the less, The Fold serious IN MY OPINION - Is Fantastic!
Nice, other way around for me. Work is issuing iPhones, though I haven't received one. The fold fits in great though with outlook and multitasking
I just traded my fold 2 for the 4 and I already really loved the 2, it's weird but once you get used to it you don't want to go back. The 4 for me is a major upgrade tho. Even the front screen while it's only a little bigger I honestly can really tell! I believe it's as wide as my daughter's 12 mini iPhone. I also have the s22 ultra that I use for work, it's really dusty so I put the fold away. I have thought about having my work phone be an iPhone since I haven't had one for many years well see how the 14 is gonna be in a couple days here.
I'm curious as to what industry gives folds as a work phone...I am working in the wrong field...
@@patflores2976 Verizon.
Im enjoying the fold 4 and I'm glad I chose it. Enjoy your phone journey my friend. I think you made the right move.
Right choice for me. Definitely can see how it would be the wrong choice for others.
As a person who uses split screen, this makes the z fold launch of 3 apps at the same time and yet be able to type, outstanding.
I could refer to information I need on another zone.
Great videos for a note 10 plus user like me considering both of these great phones
Thank you for this!!!
I'm happy it was helpful!
Great honest review. Although I was a little surprised you stuck with the Fold 4, seeing as you speak highly of the cameras on the 22....
But I get it....That ability to have an improved folding tablet In your pocket,( however bulky) is hard to resist.
That AND the beast like multitasking capabilities hooked me into coming from the Note 10 plus, to this monster. Had the 10 plus since 2019 and boy I'm so glad I made the switch..
Can't keep my hands off it.
Cheers.
The logical choice is the 22U, but a phone is such a personal device that you really need to take into account your feelings too. And the Fold just gives me a good feeling.
I currently have a Note 20 Ultra that will be two years old in November. It still works as good as the day I bought it. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to get the Fold 4, to get the S23 Ultra when it comes out, or just stay with my current phone another year. A major drawback for me is that Samsung stopped including a memory card slot. I'm also into photography. Ever since smartphones started getting decent cameras, my smartphone has been my main camera. I'm not as concerned about the cameras on the Fold 4 as much as running out of storage. I put a lot of photos into pdf ebooks. I know that I would love the Fold 4 for viewing those pdf files, not to mention my mp3 collection, and videos. I know at some point I would have to purchase cloud storage which I don't want to do.
That is a tough spot. I will say that I periodically backup my photos and have them available in Google Drive, so 512 has been more than enough space for me, even doing some video from time to time. But like I said, when I do serious photography I take my Fujifilm X-T4 or shoot film.
I went from Note 20 Ultra to Z Fold 3 to S22 Ultra to Z Fold 4...I was curious about foldables and took the chance but I went back to the Note 20Ultra after one month...something about the 3 wasn't right for me...I got the 22 for the sole purpose to trade it in for the Fold 4 and with the trade in and extras from samsung I took the plunge again and every change made to the 4 from the 3 hit the perfect notes to make it feel right..
I was kind of surprised, thought you would stick with the ultra for some reason. As much as I like the idea of these new flip phones, I'm just worried about their durability for every day out and about stuff. Guessing it's amazing to do quick bits of work on (word, excel, etc.). What would you say is something your looking forward to try out on it, that you have yet to do?
The Ultra had the bigger number of pros, but they are all overshadowed by the fold's party piece. This is the 4th gen of Samsung's foldables and apart from a few edge cases it really does seem like they've nailed down the durability angle. Check out Mr Mobile's into the fold series here on YT. I'm really looking forward to doing some game emulation. Old 4:3 aspect ratio games should really shine on here, and people have had good experiences with DS and 3DS games with the screen half folded.
I'm a self-employed computer tech and I upgraded to the Z Fold2 5G 2yrs ago from using Iphones and it was/is the best decision I made..the multitasking on the Z Fold2 5G IS INCREDIBLE and believe me it gets used and has lasted with no issues..the inner screen protector only started to peel on a small section on my z Fold2 5G about a week before I bought the Z Fold4 5G 1tb...and yes I kept my Z Fold2 5G because it still a solid device and the battery is still like new and I can view all my security cams that i have from 4 different companies at once ....unlike the iPhone where they kill your battery life to make u buy a new Iphone with IOS updates..
Foldable will be the Standard..trust me..
I pre ordered the fold as well and have been using it for almost 2 weeks.
First fold. I absolutely love it. I am, however, going to keep my S22U because my wife is having a baby in November and I really want to make sure to get the best possible pictures.
My wife also went from S22U to fold and she will never go back to the candy bar form factor. Honestly, I may not either.
Thanks for the video
I'm glad you liked the video. Yeah, it's all about what works best for you, and that's different from person to person. I will say apart from the 10x telephoto and the macro you're not losing anything going to the fold
ruclips.net/video/a2no7JrQdUg/видео.html go check this comparison and be ready to sell ur galaxy s22 ultra 🤣🤣🤣
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Except the S-Pen. Once that is built-in & can write on the cover screen as well (& the Fold comes down in price), it would be a game changer.
I've currently got a Fold 4. I've also got a Note 9 (4 years!) which is my "daily driver". I love it, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth Android/OneUI, etc-wise. I am awaiting an S22 Ultra to trade in the Note 9 within the next 2 days. Will probably trade it in for the S23 Ultra in February or whenever it's available. I will keep the Fold 4, but not as my daily driver, I'm to addicted to the Note/S2x Ultra form factor & S-Pen.
The Fold 4 is awesome! It just needs a built-in S-Pen with cover screen writing.
Thank you for your excellent video!
Will you be space-zooming your new child?
Currently got the fold 4 as my daily driver & it's very refreshing coming from the iPhone 12 Pro max that I still have and use.
Made the switch from S21 Ultra, and is the best decision so far.
My 1st fold.
Awesome, what do you like most about the switch? Definitely a more sensible move than what I made

As an owner of a Fold 4 and S22 Ultra I will say the fold makes it really hard to go back to a standard phone. The width of the front display combined with the chunk of it make it phenomenal to use with one hand. Once you open it up it becomes the most practical tablet ever. The cameras are great... No not quite as good as the ultra... But nitpicking in most scenarios other than zoom or low light.
Exactly my thoughts. Hoping more and more apps take advantage of the unfolded screen size.
You meant going from a phone from this year to a phone from this year 😅 I’m in the same situation and i am going to send my S22U to Samsung. Have the Fold4 since 2 days and i think i love it more than my S22U.
The s pen with this really does make it extra special
What I love about the z fold 4 is the new snapdragon chip, it runs cooler and battery life really is improved, charging times have also gotten better z fold 3 took 1:30 minutes for a full charge and the new one does it in 30 minutes less.
I'm just missing Samsung's aramid (carbon fiber case) to really love it, the ones currently for sale make the phone feel even heavier than what it already is, so much that my hand wrist hurts by the the end of the day.
I just got in a latercase and I'm really liking it.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo I wanted the latter case but it's out of stock until October according to their webpage
For making that decision, you've gotten a sub and a like from me😊😊, I thought this would be one of those videos that will act like they love the z fold and all and still keep the s22 ultra, you made the best decision ever, I made the decision too, I wanted the z fold 3 soo badly but it was too expensive for my reach as at then but now I've worked hard enough that I can comfortably buy the z fold 4 without trade-in, so I didn't even think twice i traded my s22 ultra because it's an s21 ultra in a note-plus shell, for me there's nothing really special about the s22 ultra, yes it has a good camera mhnmmm but that is to be expected anyways, there has to be a reason for buying it over the previous phone, which I can comfortably tell you that the s23 ultra will have better camera, but we've been there before it's the same slab phone laptop and tablet replacement wannabe, but it doesn't really replace any of them especially with that screen size and level of flexibility with that experience, it can't just replace them, but that's exactly what the z fold just did since a got the phone, my tablet has been collecting dust, at this point I don't see my self ever going back to the slab style of phone, especially if Samsung keeps giving us the EXYNOS version😡😡, I've unfolded to the future, there's no going back😁😁😁
Very similar to my train of thought. That's why this was kind of a ramble, just wanted to put my thoughts together. Will be doing a deeper dive on just the Fold 4 soon
I'm getting the ZFold4, coming from an iPhone X, Honestly, in terms of the outside screen I'd be getting a 6.2 screen from my 5.8 and the width of the Fold is 67mm and iPhone X is 70mm, I won't lie, it was already hard to type on the X lol, but I'm used to it, if anything I'll probably be able to reach the A key with my right thumb now hahaha! I've been with apple for the 4, 7, and 10, I feel like I've seen enough of what apple is doing, I'm excited to use my first android! I thought I'd never say that!
Yeah, the aspect ratio matters more than just the diagonal size. The combo of the two sizes is great so far
I'm also an s22ultra owner and am very much tempted to trade it in for the zfold4. But I have a hard time to give it up because the s22ultra has the most awesome cameras. And that 100x zoom I use most of the time especially when taking pictures of pets from a distance. I had the pleasure of comparing the zfold4 with the s22ultra side by side and yes, I agree that the zfold4 cameras were better than last year's, but compared with the 108mp of the s22ultra you can still see the difference in pictures. And of course, if you use the zoom like me it's really hard to let go.
Yes, that 10x lens is irreplaceable if you need it.
I'm an oddball here. :) I got the Fold3 and while it was a great device, it just wasn't for me. I don't game, I love photography, I had a tablet for content watching, etc. and ended up going back and just getting an S22 Ultra. Foldables are great devices for sure but they just weren't for me. If you have a chance to experience with one I would highly recommend it. I didn't do it before making the switch and then regretted it. You may love it!
Samsung is notes for it's camera's. You think they would've put a decent camera on the fold 4 thingy
Camera on the Fold 4 is great. A really awesome camera, just a notch below what the S22 Ultra is doing. Much more than decent.
Came from s21 ultra to the Z fold 4 and loving it, I just wish the camera zoom far out like my S21 ultra do
Yeah, losing 10x is a pretty big hit.
But, should you get the Fold 4 when the S23 is coming out early next year?? That is what has stopped me from upgrading my Note 10+ to either the 4 or the 22U.
But when the S23 comes out the Fold 5 will be right around the corner. The eternal struggle. I find it's best to deal with what's now than worry about the future
its a great phone im gonna buy today its a solid phone grteat chips 8 plus gen 1 and the build quality of that woww
Enjoy! Always exciting to get something new
Not against the fold series at all... but you made a point that keeps me away from it... and it's that outer display(along with no built-in s-pen or outer screen support... it's still too thin for me... I'm thinking by the 6th iteration, it'll arrive with true support, with everything to the s-pen to apps actually supporting the aspect ratio and wider outer display... not as wide as the S22U but close... implement those things, and I'm all in, team Samsung!
Exactly why people need to choose for themselves what works best for them. Not have others tell them what they should get.
I'm tempted but I think I'll wait and see what the 23 will be like before jumping on board with the fold.
💯
Fast jump cuts, Nice phone morph, 1.7k views in 24hrs (winning), photos are nice too. Story trumps all, and subject is story. Get the story out fast and eventually the quality will rise. Overall good job on the quick turnaround video.
Thank you! Need to work on consistency, finding where to cut production time is interesting.
I'm in the same boat. I just ordered the Fold 4; we'll see if I want to keep it. I wanted to give that Fold 4 a shot.
That was my thought. Give it a test ride because I still wasn't sure
You may not know this, but IG, RUclips ect. Has updated their apps to give you the option to change the screen ratios to what you like, like having the option for full screen. Just so you know
I had a similar dilemma.I own the Fold, the Fold 2 and now the Fold 4 along with the Note 20 Ultra. My dilemma was which one or two do I trade-in? I packed up the Note 20 Ultra and sent that in just this morning...so I now have all the Folds with the exception of the Fold 3 which to me wasn't an upgrade from the 2.Final decision came down to which form factor do I prefer for my needs...the Folds win!
I use the stylus on my note 20U for writing clients names and phone numbers on the screen. Can you do that with a fold?
@@vickil.robinson4208...yes.The Fold 3 and Fold 4 both support the pen but only on the large screen. No silo for the pen like on the Ultra but I have the Samsung case that holds the pen.
I use my phone for business. That fold thing just at this point wouldn't work.

@@vickil.robinson4208 ...the features that I loved about the Note haven't been discontinued just the phone has been renamed...a Rose by any other name is still a Rose.

Great video. I am currently a z fold 3 user. On my 2nd one since it came out last year due to the first one's inside cover protector coming off. My current one i recently dropped and the outer screen has cracks on it. Been debating if I wanna just do the insurance fee and get a replacement z fold 3 (which is a refurbished device). Or to upgrade, since I am eligible to. However, been debating between the fold 4 and s22 ultra..as the fold 4 would require like a $1,100 down payment whereas the s22 ultra would be only like $500 downpayment. Still undecided on what to do. Any suggestions?
Also, for the z fold 4..have you used it at all yet to record videos/take pics at concerts and if so..how is it? With my fold 3, I have noticed even with pro video mode..it still is not as good for concert vids and pics, especially with ones with a lot of lighting.
I'm definitely loving my ZF4, really the only thing I miss from the S22U is that 10x camera. For concerts that thing is pretty amazing. Though I think I liked the 4x on the Pixel 6 Pro better. All depends on priorities. If I had to choose right now, I would still go with the fold.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Oh okay, for the 10x camera was it good for like zooming in onto the stage, etc im guessing? And do you know if the fold 4 is much of an upgrade from the 3? Also, how is that 50mp camera on the 4 and you think it would be good at recording for concerts? Especially one with lots of lights (for example like trans siberian orchestra, most rock concerts lol).
@@themusiclover8440 yeah, the zoom was great for getting to see individual people on stage. I would put the main camera on the same level with the S22U main. I never used the Fold 3, fit it seems like the changes are small but significant
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Oh okay as in main cameras you mean the 50mp of the fold 4 to the like 108 mp of the s22? Also, how fast is the fold 4 to the s22 ultra in your opinion? I know the fold 4 has the newer processor. And oh ok, no problem.
@@themusiclover8440 yes, the main is the 108 and the 50. Speed was basically the same in my eyes. I'm surprisingly getting better battery life on my Fold 4 though.

Have s22 ultra and fold4..... in love with fold but on fence on returning it , so worried about inner screen suddenly breaking and then having to deal with samsung care to get fixed
Decisions..decisions🤔
I get that concern. I'm working on the assumption that spontaneous breakage is not impossible, but highly unlikely. We'll see though.
I mostly agree... a little concerned about resell value down the road. The past few folds haven't kept much value especially considering their purchase price. S22 series drops far less
That's definitely a valid concern. We'll see what happens as they get more mainstream
I'll wait for a 4 to be much cheaper or 5. 22ultra is perfect for now
The trade in values have held though. The phone was so young that it was improving too much to hold value. The third one was miles better than the first two
And now the 4th feels like a finished product for the first time. I dont see it dropping as much this time. Nonetheless keep an eye out for good deals
I have been an iPhone user since the first one in 2007. I have tried to go to android many times over the years but I think with the Fold4 it has finally happened. This is the absolute coolest piece of tech I've ever played with and finally it does everything I need and want it to do, consistently. So so cool

Hopefully it's good enough for you to keep I sent a f3 back from a s21u now on the s22u, it's definitely something that takes hands on and I'm tempted but through my testing of the f3, I got annoyed with opening the phone to more compromises than convenience, they've cleaned alot of that up so it may be ready for some but until the cover is undoubtedly sizeable and the cameras are better than the ultra its not worth my money, I have plenty of toys already. However i am glad to see people loving it though cause it is awesome.
Yup, everyone has their own set of priorities. For me the cover display is big enough for anything I'd use it for and the cameras are good enough, but I can totally see your point of view too.
I drop my phones and I usually use flip cases. I don't see this with the fold 4.
You did right
Hi there, I also traded in my S22 Ultra for the Fold4 (but doubled the storage to 1TB).

I've been using iphone for over 10 years now, I saw z fold 4 with my friend and liked the idea of having a fopd phone. I got it and just trying it for now while still having an iphone 13. I loved the features so far they're a lot and fun. Big screen, tablet mood. Fun to use because im board of using the traditional phone. It has a lot but the only thing i dont like is that its missing some features that iphone have that are very usiful such as press and hold on any text and chose the options to speak it, translate it, look it up. Its a very usiful feature for me. Plus the most important thing is the imessage. I message is so advanced that i wish Androidhas simier feature. I can send as much photos and as long videos as a text throgh imessage but when i tried to send a short video from my fold 4 it asked me to trim it. Thats dispoint me. I wish that fold 4 could use ios instead of androidit will be the killer. I still have about 10 days to keep it or return it but still thinking about what i would miss with the iphone and though that i might keep them both but i have an ipad that could cover the big screen and tablet and even laptop need but of course not as good quality screen as the fold 4. Mmm so bozzled and wish that you have combared it to the iphone as well.thank you
What did you decide?
If you don't open it up does the battery life double?🤔
I'm sure it would help but not even close to doubling. Too many other things draw power, and the interior display is a new kind of low power display that Samsung developed
It gets great battery life for me using mostly outside screen. Around 7-10 hours screen on time. Mostly streaming youtube over 5g with brightness at 30-50%.
I agree with you. I kept my z fold 4.
Hope it works out great for you
been using fold 4 since it's released, if you're a avid reader of novels, book or manga you will love the size of the fold 4 and how comfortable to read in it, the only cons for me for the fold 4 is the camera and some of the apps are still not suited for foldable phones
Graphic novels and manga definitely, I still prefer my e-ink kindle for novels though. But this is nice to always have on me.
Wow. This would be awesome for manga. I read one piece online and had to zoom in alot while reading. I just purchased Fold 4 for the missus, But probably i will get fold 5 for myself after finish paying off the current phone.
I changed from the S22 ultra. I was scared it would be a down grade. But hell no! the only SLIGHT downgrade was the cameras. And since I use my phone more for watching videos and not so much cameras I'm happy.
I think your emphasis on slight is exactly right. It's not like the Fold 4 has a potato for a camera. It's still great.
The reason to leave any standard phone for the fold is .....wait for it... the screen. If thats not the number 1 driver for you the zfold isnt the right device. Always been a note series fan, I actually had 2 phones iPhone and Note 20 Ultra. Traded in the Ultra for the ZFold 4, I can't go back to the standard note and barely use my iPhone/iPad.
Man I sent that s22u back so fast and never looked back. Wasn't even a hard decision for me at all
Haha, you're someone who knows what they want.
I had a similar experience where I had the S21 and went for a pixel 6. That phone was disappointingly half baked and I end up switching to the S22 plus. Samsung has a choke whole on me. By far the best android maker.
I used to bag on Samsung back in the S4 S5 days, making fun of TouchWiz. I was a big Nexus fan, but today Samsung just does too much right to ignore. They always stuffed in a great balance of hardware, and OneUI is finally fast and has nice improvements over stock Android. You can check out my video where I talk about going from the S21 Ultra to the Pixel 6 Pro and see what I thought about it there.
Mine broke in 2.5 weeks. Posted a video. Defective. Could not open past half way without crunching noise and screen peeling up.
Oof, hope they replaced it without too much headache
I traded my S22 Ultra for a Z fold 4 and the biggest thing that I miss is the superior camera of S22 Ultra. Z fold 4 is amazing for viewing videos especially movies, games, typing emails etc on that big screen. However, the only con I can think about is the fact that if you start an app on the full screen and go to the front screen, it sometimes restarts the app. I am not sure about the reason for that but it's irritating.
Yeah, that's on developers for not allowing for dynamic resizing. Hopefully as fodables become more common that gets fixed in more apps.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo One of the other thing is that this phone has two batteries so technically it should last even longer.
hey! i make some money of my iphone se 2016, making videos and photos! this little phone can handle multiple apps without lagging! i dont know if an android device can handle that for more than 5 years!
I was back and forth with the z fold 4. I returned 2 models and went back to my s22 ultra then finally committed and stayed with my 3rd z fold 4 purchase (paid in full) and I have to say I'm kinda glad I did. Battery is amazing. Fast charging isn't crazy different between the two. And I usually get a phone every year or in this case 6 months later after the launch of the s22 ultra. I'm glad I made the switch. It really is an experience I can't explain. I know over time the aspect ratio will be fixed since it's only a software issue but the hardware is really something special. To be able to open and close the phone and still continue typing on comments or to make it easier for myself to type and use my phone one handed which is like a weird thing to be so excited about but.. I have small hands and I could not do it with the s22 ultra.. it was impossible. Even with a phone grip on the back. With the z fold 4, although it's bulkier I can actually handle it one handed without a problem.
Another thing to think about is you can actually squeeze out more battery if you primarily use the cover screen for stuff. I tested out using the AOD for a few days and I was able to get the same amount of screen on time as I did with my s22 ultra screen being off. I know AOD doesn't count towards your screen on time but it still uses a bit of power if you leave it on all day every day.
I was a disbeliever in the point of a foldable phone.. trust me, I was against it more than anyone but after comitting to it and being open minded, it changed my perspective completely and I believe the z fold 4 is the perfect intro to foldable phones if you're tired of traditional candy bar style phones.
This was all typed on my z fold 4, first paragraph on the inner display and the rest of this on the cover display.
You are crazy changing the same damn phones so many times
I'm definitely keep my Note 20 Ultra and my expandable storage and those great camera's
The SD card slot was definitely a big loss.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo definitely, and should have not been removed. But if no one talks about or really complain and demand that Samsung bring it back, they continue to believe that it's ok
Hahaha you're like me, from fold 2, to s22 ultra white, then traded it to FOLD 4 GREEN. No regrets ♥️
Almost kind of wishing I went with beige now though, lol.
That's for women. Green is the way to go😂🤣😂
@@csguak lol, that's for whoever likes the color. Liked my Orchid colored S8 and my purple Buds 2 Pro now.
I have an iPhone 12 and a Galaxy S22. Both = 6.1 inches. I want to bring into a New Phone and really want a foldable. I have in mind trade the iPhone 12 for a Z Flip 4. Its less expensive and I think thats a good deal try first a Flip and then a fold... what do you think guys???
The flip is a very different idea than the fold. Both are good, but for different reasons. Don't get one just because you want something folding. Get the flip if you want something super compact that can still work like a normal phone, and the fold if you like the idea of having a tablet in your pocket at all times.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo thank you so much
The fold just seems like an interesting phone, I really just wish it was more affordable. That's the only problem in my opinion
Absolutely a luxury device. The engineering is impressive, but you definitely pay for it.
These Fold and flip phones are cool and all until after using them for a while they end up having a crack were the crease is and get the black screen line of death as reported by many users of these Fold and flip phones.
Yeah, curious what the percentage of users end up experiencing this is. People tend to share problems, not when things go well. Bought it under the assumption that it's still a rare problem.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo it's a pretty well known frequent issue. When you talk to any cellphone store employee they all say they get lots of customer complaints of these Fold and flip phones having crease cracks issues. Also on best buy website reviews tons of customers say the same thing. Also a cellphone store employee showed me his Z fold 3 phone that the crease cracked and big black line down the middle happened to him after only using the z fold 3 for 6 months.
Weirdly enough I'm going back to my Note 10 plus after getting my Fold 4. I tried and not for me, for now.
Not weird. I had a Note 10+ and it was a pretty amazing phone. Possibly top Samsung form.
I'm still on the wall. Not sure if i can lose the S22U for ZF4..... Especially without the discounts and freebies that you guys get in the west.
Yeah, that definitely changes the question entirely.
If fold 4 doesnt have s pen suport then is no change for me and samsung know that manny peoples with s22ultra like to upgrade. Now they are self competition, but not real one, because of they make just more profit.
It does support the s pen. Just only on the inside display.
Great video but you look like a older Mclovin from the movie superbad...🤣😂🤣😂
why did you pay samsung extra for the fold when you yourself say that you didn't see any big difference between the s22 ultra and the fold ?
Most things are the same, but the folding screen to me is a game changer, enough to make the price worth it to me. But if the folding screen isn't valuable to you then there isn't much else that would make it worth the price.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo if you had waited for s23 you would have used yor dollars better
That's assuming I didn't care about the folding form factor. I'm sure for a lot of people waiting for the S23, or even just keeping their old phone makes a lot more sense. But for me, the folding phone is worth it, especially with the preorder deals.
💯💣💥
Just couldn't get used to the interface of the social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat with the Fold 4. In general it looked like they just zoomed in the app rather than optimize it so the content that you see doesn't feel like it's zoomed in. Some of the contents are even cropped out or makes it pixelated. I'm spending a lot of hours in social media, so this was an important factor for me. Besides that, the Nova launcher also showed a few bugs and isn't fully optimized for the Fold 4. Don't get me wrong, it is a beast of a folding phone with crystal clear display and excellent performance speed. It also feels very premium when you hold it and you won't even notice the crease. But I just couldn't get used to it because of the apps that are not optimized yet for the bigger screens of the folding phone. I also wish that the front screen could be wider and shorter instead of long and narrow. For those main reasons, I've returned the Fold 4 and hope for a great S23 Ultra.
All good points. FB works well for me except for stories that get cut off on the top and bottom. TikTok is actually well optimized letting you see comments and videos at the same time. But IG is a mess. I don't use Snap. That's why it always important to chose a phone based on your own priorities
I traded in my s22 ultra ,too.. best decision. I think im never go back to a regular bulky phone
i do see myself really enjoying the fold but i’m still second guessing
Upgraded to the fold 4 from a s22 ultra. I dont think I'll ever go back to a non foldable phone.
Happy you're liking it so far
I had to choose between having a great camera + battery (13 pro max) vs a good camera + ok battery (1 day) + large screen
I see the fact that having a huge screen that you can fuckin fold and put in you pocket is a huge huge huge win..
I simply fail to understand why the fold isn't getting the attention that it deserves.. At this point, no matter what Samsung does, people would blindly choose apple product just because of the mindset that it makes you look posh. This is basically Apple's business model, that's how they launch the same device as the previous one (at times) and still see sales!
Not to say that Apple is bad. iphones build quality is pretty good and ios has its pros and cons, but these doesn't seem to matter to a lot of people. Just the apple logo matters and having the name that they have the latest iphone in hand..
I will say the price is still a huge barrier to entry, but I agree the Fold should be in the conversation more. This really seems to have crossed the threshold from weird experimental thing to a real consumer product. Apple has done a great job with their image. Many people don't even realize that high end android phones exist. They only know about the cheap phones.
Right, the price and the prototype kinda feel that the fold had was preventing me from getting one until the fold 4 and blackfriday deals :P
And sellers at Amazon offer fold 3 (renewed) for just 600$ where as Samsung can take for 1000$ trade in!
I just bought a fold 3 for 600$ and instantly traded it for a fold 4 and got 1000$ off
:P
I got 1
I have been using zfold 4 for a week now, I am returning it tomorrow for the S22 ultra.
Hope the S22 Ultra works great for you. What was it that works better for you on the Ultra?
@@AdultsHaveToysToo
The z4 fold front screen Is too small to type, the big screen tablet Is too big for my hands, the battery drains too fast, the front camera is not even on par with my previous note 10 plus. It doesn't fit on any of my video equipment and the S pen is not remote controllable. Finally, I paid 2300$ and I don't get much out more than my Note 10 plus. The only reason I had to get rid of it is it only has 1 sim and no 5G and it gets slower 😒.
Samsung is winning 🛡🗡
I traded in my S21 ultra for this.
There is a learning curve to using the big screen if you are multitasking all the time.
Biggest gripe is finding a wireless charging device that works with the big screen mode while driving.
Yes I am staying with my Galaxy Z fold 3 5G, I like what your saying it's a nice combination, I'm just one of those guys that's got big hands and fingers, we don't all use pens, but we really like the Galaxy Z fold phones the format that covers all types of people thinner people thicker people more feminine so regardless of your trends fads and styles Samsung has a capacity to make some fantastic phones I can't wait to see what they come out with with the Z fold 5 5G.
Next time you do a video can you turn off the background music it's so distracting
No S Pen.
The Z Fold 4 has an S Pen. It actually came with the stand case. Only works on the inside screen, and you have to use the fold edition or the s pen pro.
Almost every youtuber gets this wrong!!!Both instagram and shorts can be made to show in full screen🤦🤦
Do you have a reliable way of showing shorts? I've found that it will sometimes work fine, and othertimes it cuts off the top and bottom.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo Go to settings>display>full screen apps>instagram>full screen
Sure, but then stories and reels get cut off top and bottom. 16:9 keeps them intact. RUclips sometimes plays well in fullscreen and sometime not when it comes to shorts.
fix your audio bro
Always looking to improve. What are you referring to specifically with the audio and do you have a recommendation on how to fix it?
You can use the S-pen on both screens now on the Z fold 4.
No it's still on the inside screen only. No digitizer on the cover screen
Yeah, you can use it. It just won't write anything. 😂
I really dislike a video that's being cut into too many pieces like this, sorry to say this man. Can't you at least talk more than 10 seconds before cutting every single time?
It's harder than you might think. This was less scripted than most of my videos leaving a bit too much dead time and me needing to rearrange some things for better flow. I appreciate the feedback though.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo fair points! but you cut a lot only at the beginning of the video , the rest are fine. my apology
R e t u r n. No 60fps capabilities across all 3 lenses when trying to change lenses while recording
Interesting specific use case, good to know. I'm usually using a dedicated camera if I'm worried about higest video quality. Seems like the UW doesn't support high frame rate video.
@@AdultsHaveToysToo it's honestly an insult for the price tag. Boast about 8k recording with one lens, then can't record 60fs at 1080 or even 720p when trying to switch through lenses. Major L. One plus you can at 1080p with 10pro and zte Axon 40 ultra as well. I don't understand it. Heck, my old lg v50 can record 60fps at 1080p on all 3 lenses.
Awful phone, too clunky and big
For you, which is why it's nice to have options. I will say there is a lack of choice in compact phones though. This is perfect for me though.
Yes. Right move all day. I got the beige version a couple weeks ago and it's nothing short of amazing.
