Is it worth it to upgrade from a note 20 ultra? I do have a note 8 I could trade in but I kinda want to keep the note 20 ultra since it's the last of the note series.
I sacrificed the cameras on the S21 ultra to get the fold 3. I truly missed having the range and clarity of the higher end camera on my device, especially in low light and video situations. I'm back with the S22 ultra now (I was a hardcore Note user anyway). I would say give the fold a chance. It really was a great device. But if you're like me and a big camera user..... you'll probably regret it if you're coming from the Ultra line.
Having started from samsung fold 2 and fold 3, i cant go back to a standard phone anymore, i love the big screen and the phone overall, simply i cant notice the crease, if I'm immerse in the game or a show. I'm excited with my pre order of fold 4
I just returned Z Fold 4 and decided to keep S22U, money was absolutely not the issue here. But let me explain some key reasons: - almost all of the RUclips videos or movies when you watch from z fold 4 due to the cut out you will watch it almost at similar actual screen size as S22U, so bigger screen doesn't really do any good. - Front screen of Z Fold 4 is too narrow, typing well is almost impossible. It will make you want to use your phone less or feel less comfortable using it. - Phone is bulky and quite a bit heavier than S22U and that extra weight and bulkiness really makes you want to use your phone less. - S-pen not integrated to the body of the phone changed user experience significantly when compared to S22U. And the Z Fold 4 does not lay flat with most of the cases so you can't really write comfortably with it. The S-pen experience is greatly reduced. - I like to take quick notes with S22U, but to do it with Z Fold 4's front screen is very uncomfortable because of typos and you can't use S pen for quick notes. These are the key reasons for me to return Z Fold 4. I'm not saying Z Fold 4 is not a great phone, I feel the build is super good, but when I was about to trade in S22U I really feel like I miss it more. So like some ppl said, I envy those who made Z Fold 4 work for them but S22U really fits my everyday use a lot better than Z Fold 4. This is my super honest feedback =D
Thank you. I am a s20 user just got my Zfold 4 today. I'm having buyers remorse. #1 z fold 4 is heavy and thick. I agree about it being too narrow when folded. I think I'm going to reopen and get S22 ultra
I currently use a Note 9. Love it, perfectly happy with it except for no more OneUI or Android updates. Was going to wait for the S23 Ultra. Decided to pre-order the Fold 4 unlocked from Samsung to use *in addition to* the Note 9, then upgrading it to the S23 Ultra next February. It helped that my cell provider showed a newer plan where I could get that one extra line for $6 less per month than what I'm paying now. Also traded in a Tab S5E & a Watch which saved me over $200 off the Fold 4/Watch 5/Buds 2 pre-order bundle offer from Samsung. I plan on using both phones and look forward to learning all the new software & features. I passed on the Z Fold 3 & the S22 Ultra, so I'm stoked to have the Fold 4 in a week and the S23 Ultra in February.
I'm on the same boat. Samsung is having great incentives right now. I purchased the S22U over the Fold 3 earlier this year (coming from Iphone). I'm huge into photography however, I noticed the screen real estate is hard to edit photos on. I have to really zoom in since I prefer using mobile editing apps over PC. I decided to make the jump to the Fold for the screen and to see what it can do before the S23U releases. From there, i can see whether the fold is for me or if I like a traditionally shaped phone. Excited!
Remember your getting 5G capability too with the upgrade from the Note 9. Better Cameras, better OS, better Gorilla Glass, better battery, better screen resolutions. I went from a Note 8 to the S22 Ultra with the Note 8 trade in and I was thinking about waiting until the S23 comes out but looked at the new specs and it wasn’t going to be a huge difference so I pulled the trigger. I didn’t like the fold 4 because of the fact that I use the phone with my right hand most of the time and wouldn’t want to walk around with the fold 4 opened up because I might drop it so then I would be actually using a smaller phone one handed most of the time. The S22 ultra is huge at 6.8 inches and that’s what I’m used to. I also have a 12.9 IPad Pro mobile version which I love also.
I don't know why I was hoping that the Fold 4 would have a better camera. Thanks for a very well constructed comparison and for stopping me from paying stupid money :)
I'm a long time Galaxy Note user (since Note 3) and I was disappointed when they downsized the undercover Notes (S22 Ultra) screen size. The entire reason I stayed with Note is due to its large screen size and phablet capabilities. So for me the Samsung Folds have the potential to attract the Note buyers. I didn't get the Fold 2 due to its slower processor lack of S pen etc and than the Fold 3 came along and gave me hope! So I waited to see if the Fold 4 would hit my must haves and it did! I use a standalone camera so the camera quality in a phone isnt a deciding factor for me. The size of the screen, the speed of it's processor, the size of its storage, the device having a stylus and it being water resistant are major deciding factors for me. I'm looking forward to seeing how far Samsung will evolve the Fold series! Already pre-ordered my Fold 4 yesterday from Samsung. It comes with a free case that includes and houses the S pen, I am receiving a $900 credit for my trade-in (undamaged Note 20 ultra). I can't wait to experience the screen size on the Fold 4 while playing games, reading articles and researching till my heart's content without having to turn on my computer gaming setup 🥰 This is a win win for me.
And another good news. Samsung give cheaper price for screen fix on fold/flip devices. So don't surprise on cracking screen and don't open and close to often too. Good luck
I am a Note fan since the Note 3. Multitasking is something I use a lot and is the only reason I want the fold 4, but that skinny outer display is a deal-breaker for me, but if the fold series had a built-in S pen I would have gotten a fold already.
Saki, please, how visible is the line in the middle of the Fold 4? Is there a case for the Fold 4 with a place for the S pen? How much the S pen and the case will cost? Thank you🙏
It does have a case with a pen slot which can also be removed so the case is flat when you don't wanna take the pen. It's around $90. And with pre orders now, they're giving the case and the pen for free.
Thank you for helping me make my decision to purchase the S22 Ultra. The built-in S Pen is the deciding factor for me. The better camera and battery life are great, too. I would love to have the Fold4 if it had those features, and the deal you featured in your 8/13/2022 video, "Do not buy Galaxy Z Fold 4 before watching this," is killer. Best trade-in price on my Galaxy Note 8 ($475), but in the end, just not enough to make up for the built-in S Pen.
I recently purchased a Z Fold 3 for *1/2* the price of the Fold 4. I really love the Z Fold 3 (in silver). Really a productivity powerhouse. I'm sure the battery life and other things are better on the Fold 4, but I'll wait until 2023 and the Fold 5 to upgrade.
Disagree on a couple of things. Performing tests, they both have the same battery life with Fold 4 lasting longer usually. Also, the cameras on S22 ultra on paper are better but Fold 4 performed better in many scenarios. Samsung killed it with the Fold 4.
the inner display is wider but not as tall as the 22 ultra. and not twice as wide either. i was thinking of getting it but do you get that much video room it just looked more zoomed. will look at one today. i don't go full screen movies as you loose picture full screen is nice but not if you lose picture same with the 22 ultra
Hang on to note 20 you drop one of those phones and you have everything on your phone your scared . Not worth it you can buy a 14 inch galaxy pro second generation coming out .
I admire you if you keep the Note 20. I loved mine, but I traded it in for the S22 Ultra. The S22 is thicker and heavier, it's nowhere near as comfortable or svelte as that beautiful Note 20. The screen is even technically smaller. Other areas are truly negligible, except the cameras really are terrific on the S22U.
It's not 200 dollars off the price. It's 200 dollars of credit to buy galaxy buds or a watch. It's after you select your phone. It then says you have 200 credit.
I hope the s23 ultra gets an upgraded under display camera. I would like a fold one day, but until the battery is better and you don't compromise as much compared to the ultra I'm gonna have to wait. Love my S22 Ultra so far.
I love mine too EXCEPT the battery life. No matter what I do, it is drained by 1pm. Loads of instant messaging for work. My colleague on the other hand uses an iPhone and her batter is at least 70 percent at the end of the day.
Yes but when you go full aspect ratio on the fold four it actually cuts off some of the screen when you're watching it on the Galaxy S2 ultra you get more in the picture I have noticed this with my Samsung tablet as well as my phone which is why I don't mind the black bars because your eyes will not notice them after a while anyways
I've had my s21Ultra for a couple of years or so now. S21U and S22U are essentially the same devices minus the spen slot and the slight physical design change. I love my S21U but I like the concept of the Fold phones. I rarely use my cameras and if I do, I tend to not even use them to their full potential. I will miss the 5000mah battery but it is a sacrifice I can make since I have ultra fast charging capabilities. I've started the process of trading in my S21 Ultra for a Fold 4 and I am excited. I tend to not upgrade for two years so this will be a nice change. I've been getting sick of the traditional phone design thus far and have been craving something more unique.
As a matter of fact, even more can be opened in popup view, and in a cascade formation, opened all at the same time. I had 5 opened at once with one more staying pinned. Of course you can't see much in each at once, but it is do-able.
All these people saying the fold doesn't have ENOUGH features to upgrade from the s22 ultra...my question, why would you wanna upgrade to the next gen anyways? The years of amazing ingenuity year after year are long gone. I'm upgrading from an s10+ to the fold 4 and tbh I don't even feel that impressed with what I'm getting myself into. However, that would be the case for ANY upgrade at this point.
For watching videos on youtube, it seems like you're getting more from the Z Fold because of its bigger display, but, you actually lose a lot of video content when you utilize the full screen like he did because when you utilize the full screen, the video content on the sides are cut off. On normal view, you will get huge black borders on the top and the bottom, making watching videos on the S22 Ultra actually better.
@@clos1764 ... It's the same size. The only advantage is multitasking. But considering that a lot of apps are not optimized for the Fold, it degrades user experience. S22 Ultra is better.
You should also be able to add a floating app, if you already have the maximum number of apps open, by dragging and dropping from the side bar. I can do that on my Fold 3 and Note 8.
The fold is a great phone but currently I have myself the s22 ultra so until Samsung decides to create a longer battery life within the device with better cameras as well as built in s pen I won't be switching to the fold. They have a little way to go but these are big issues with th3 device that need to b3 taken care of if they'd want users to transition into the fold phones from the S devices.
After many years of using iPhone, with budget available, I would like to try something different since iPhone 14 can't impress me too much & I know it's going to take some time to use to it.
I've been using the fold 4 for a few days and I decided to keep my s22 ultra. It seems like almost a downgrade for every day use. I don't walk around with the fold 4 open while I'm on the go
@THERISING22 honestly, nope. However it's based on my needs. When I had the fold2 I was working exclusively remote and it came in very handy with the larger screen. I have access to the office now so it's a big deal and I prefer being able to use my phone with one hand.
Hi regarding fold 4 inner screen ultra thin glass can last for 4-5 years i am planning to get fold 4 will the inner screen last for long time or not please if someone can reply me thanks in advance.
I would have suggested to start with disclosing the camera difference at the very beginning of the S22 Ultra advantages as everything else is expected.
Hey Saki one thing that's been taken from these phones is the IR Blaster which I've always used ALOT. Do you know of any ways I can get that functionality on my S22 Ultra?
Fo the battery, the s22 ultra may have the bigger battery, but the z fold actually has the longer battery life because of the improved processor. It also generates less heat than the S22 ultra
Pretty spot on... only thing is on the multitasking... with pop up view on the S22U you can open a many windows as you want... making it comparable to multitasking on the fold 4 save real-estate.
This is probably silly but when thes22 ultra came put I noticed that the deals and pricing after the preoprder period expired the prices were actually lower. Any thoughts on this as I am considering upgrading from the 22 ultra to the fold 4
The durability test of the fold 4 was shockingly good. It withstood quite a bit of damage before breaking. That 100x zoom is a neat gimmick, I made a ton of my apple friends jealous but its not practical. Just ordered my fold 4 from the 21 Ultra.....CANT WAIT!!
@Manuel261288 I'm still very much in love with my Fold. I'll never go back to a slab phone again. The versatility is hard to beat I have no regrets. I say go for it if you can afford it.
The ONE thing holding me back is the camera. 4MP front facing, for instance, is pathetic. So, being into photography, I'm having a hard time making a decision at this price. Side note: Saki, please stop with the spiders and snakes! 🤣
Thank you Saki! Great job on the comparisons 😊 The fold would have to UP it's game a lot more for me to want to buy it. Too many non-starters at this point and the S22 Ultra is simply amazing ♥️

Is it worth it to upgrade from a note 20 ultra? I do have a note 8 I could trade in but I kinda want to keep the note 20 ultra since it's the last of the note series.
If my sight is ok, that is not the Fold 4 ... It is the Fold 3 !!!
I came from S20 ultra to Z Fold 4. Haven't looked back. This year's Fold camera is great.
How you liked it compared to the s22 Ultra?
Really appreciate this video, thanks!
Having started from samsung fold 2 and fold 3, i cant go back to a standard phone anymore, i love the big screen and the phone overall, simply i cant notice the crease, if I'm immerse in the game or a show. I'm excited with my pre order of fold 4
People hate on the crease way too much. Personally, I like the feeling when I run my fingers over it. And most of the time it's not noticeable.
So helpful. Thank you
I just returned Z Fold 4 and decided to keep S22U, money was absolutely not the issue here. But let me explain some key reasons:
- almost all of the RUclips videos or movies when you watch from z fold 4 due to the cut out you will watch it almost at similar actual screen size as S22U, so bigger screen doesn't really do any good.
I also have a 12.9 IPad Pro mobile version which I love also.
ypu guys have the most privilege buying smart phones in the market. great incentives... Us here in the PH had to spend thousands of money. :(
most honest comparison i've seen to this point anywhere. thank you
I don't know why I was hoping that the Fold 4 would have a better camera.
Thanks for a very well constructed comparison and for stopping me from paying stupid money :)
That fold phone is Fold 3 not Fold 4. He is comparing Fold 3 with S22 Ultra not the Fold 4.
You sound like me. I too traded my Note 20 Ultra and was glad to see they gave us $900. I was a little worried about what they'd give us at first.
And another good news. Samsung give cheaper price for screen fix on fold/flip devices. So don't surprise on cracking screen and don't open and close to often too. Good luck
Note 20 ultra user here. Same boat. The Samsung offers given this year were too good to pass up.
I am a Note fan since the Note 3. Multitasking is something I use a lot and is the only reason I want the fold 4, but that skinny outer display is a deal-breaker for me, but if the fold series had a built-in S pen I would have gotten a fold already.
Does the Fold 4 SPen have Bluetooth capability? Or does one have to buy the SPen Pro?
The s pen works on the fold also
The s pen kn the outside is good because is bulky
I recently purchased a Z Fold 3 for *1/2* the price of the Fold 4. I really love the Z Fold 3 (in silver). Really a productivity powerhouse.
I'm sure the battery life and other things are better on the Fold 4, but I'll wait until 2023 and the Fold 5 to upgrade.
Is that bottom task bar coming to the older models?
Excellent review!!
U described very well n clearly good vid tyvm
Disagree on a couple of things. Performing tests, they both have the same battery life with Fold 4 lasting longer usually. Also, the cameras on S22 ultra on paper are better but Fold 4 performed better in many scenarios. Samsung killed it with the Fold 4.
Thats the Fold 3 he has there isn't it? how can you do a comparison when you don't have the fold 4?
Exactly. That fold phone is Fold 3 not Fold 4.
One of the best reviews
Thanks
Love honest reviews
the inner display is wider but not as tall as the 22 ultra. and not twice as wide either. i was thinking of getting it but do you get that much video room it just looked more zoomed. will look at one today. i don't go full screen movies as you loose picture full screen is nice but not if you lose picture same with the 22 ultra
I'm not convinced after watching the unpack to change my Note 20 Ultra 5G or GW3. I will hold on to them for sometime.
Able to resist the urge to upgrade? You are as your profile pic suggests...a saint I'm these modern days and time
Hang on to note 20 you drop one of those phones and you have everything on your phone your scared . Not worth it you can buy a 14
inch galaxy pro second generation coming out .
@@williamzander4732 Any phone can be destroyed from a drop. The Folds aren't as fragile as people make them out to be.
Umm so how the heck do your change the location of the taskbar to the SIDE?? I DON'T SEE THE OPTION in settings it even good lock??
How do you get the silver fold 4? I can only see black, grey-green, burgundy and beige on the Samsung store?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, where do I get the $200 ? I reserved a week ago can you make a video explaining how the up to $200 credit works
Get it here: bit.ly/3A5VlUv (up to $300 Samsung Credit)
Did you figure it out? Wondering the same.
It's not 200 dollars off the price. It's 200 dollars of credit to buy galaxy buds or a watch. It's after you select your phone. It then says you have 200 credit.
Great video! Very informative and really showed the difference between the two models. Thanks!
I hope the s23 ultra gets an upgraded under display camera. I would like a fold one day, but until the battery is better and you don't compromise as much compared to the ultra I'm gonna have to wait. Love my S22 Ultra so far.
eewwww pls no i hate the under display camera, they should better put a pop-up cam.
@@raymondreddington6521 That technology probably isn't coming back
I love mine too EXCEPT the battery life. No matter what I do, it is drained by 1pm. Loads of instant messaging for work. My colleague on the other hand uses an iPhone and her batter is at least 70 percent at the end of the day.
agree. bought a Z Fold 3 and battery still isn't good enough compared to the S22 Ultra I got a white one.
@@eda9603 there's something wrong with your phone if all you're doing is massaging all day and your battery is drained by 1pm
Thank You for explaining it
I've had my s21Ultra for a couple of years or so now.
Yes absolutely. I love this concept of foldable phones. Its like having a mini tablet on the go!
The s22u is more like a note than a s21
I will keep my s22 ultra it a better phone with a better price the only thing the fold has is having a bigger screen that all
Brother Can u check if S Pen Air Action is working or Not bec on my new Z Fold 4 its not working?
What have new issues over s22 ultra battery life?
hi..where can i find these beautiful wallpapers Saki? the s22 and the fold4 too??
I'll keep my S22 Ultra till next year... Amazing phone I have the red one also and is super cool and more useful.
isnt that the folf 3 you are showing? fold 4 has a new taskbar.... smaller bezel on the exterior screen...
If you open apps in the popup view, you can actually open 3 apps simultaneously on the Ultra as well. Albeit they are small, but still usable.
We want to hear your brutal opinion on this comparison
For watching videos on youtube, it seems like you're getting more from the Z Fold because of its bigger display, but, you actually lose a lot of video content when you utilize the full screen like he did because when you utilize the full screen, the video content on the sides are cut off. On normal view, you will get huge black borders on the top and the bottom, making watching videos on the S22 Ultra actually better.
agreed...the aspect ratio is completely wrong.
Even with the black bars on top and bottom it is still the same or larger than the s22 on full screen.
@@clos1764 ... It's the same size. The only advantage is multitasking. But considering that a lot of apps are not optimized for the Fold, it degrades user experience. S22 Ultra is better.
@@Gemini530It's not the same size! Fold 4 is bigger
@@andreasborkes695 ... Not significantly bigger
You should also be able to add a floating app, if you already have the maximum number of apps open, by dragging and dropping from the side bar. I can do that on my Fold 3 and Note 8.
Or, you can be like me, and Buy both, I have the S22 ULTRA and the GALAXY FOLD 4😂😍
I said that about the 3, but I'm caving in now.
Same aa the 3 with minimal adjustments. Not good enough for that amount of money..I'll keep my s22 ultra.. fold just a cool mini tablet
The phone in this video is Fold 3(silver), not Fold 4 !
After many years of using iPhone, with budget available, I would like to try something different since iPhone 14 can't impress me too much & I know it's going to take some time to use to it.
I want a foldable phone with an S22 Ultra size outer display. 🤷
whats that wide monitor in the bvackground ?
I've been using the fold 4 for a few days and I decided to keep my s22 ultra. It seems like almost a downgrade for every day use. I don't walk around with the fold 4 open while I'm on the go
Do you regret getting rid if the fold
@THERISING22 honestly, nope. However it's based on my needs. When I had the fold2 I was working exclusively remote and it came in very handy with the larger screen. I have access to the office now so it's a big deal and I prefer being able to use my phone with one hand.
@@K1nshou so you would say keep going with the s22 ultra?
@@METATRON33 that's up to you. You can order it from Samsung directly and try it out for a few days. That's what I did.
I carry 2 phones, they are these 2 now. Didn't want to choose between them, lol
Thank u Saki , i ll stay with my S22 Ultra ❤️❤️❤️, i have à zfold 2 but i like my S22 Ultra
Thanks for the info
Very good comparison
Fo the battery, the s22 ultra may have the bigger battery, but the z fold actually has the longer battery life because of the improved processor. It also generates less heat than the S22 ultra
You are on point!
Do you still like the fold 4? I habe a s21 ultra and think about to change it for a fold 4
@Manuel261288 I'm still very much in love with my Fold. I'll never go back to a slab phone again.
The versatility is hard to beat I have no regrets. I say go for it if you can afford it.
Do they have any new earbuds out or coming soon?
The ONE thing holding me back is the camera. 4MP front facing, for instance, is pathetic. So, being into photography, I'm having a hard time making a decision at this price.
Side note: Saki, please stop with the spiders and snakes! 🤣
Samsung is offering a $1000 trade-in for the S22 ultra, meaning I would have to pay $760 + tax. I'm confused😂😂
The S22 Ultra has a really bright screen, how does the Fold 4 internal and external screens compare when it comes to max brightness?
Is that 200 dollar link thing on top of the 200 they already give u ???
Thank you Saki! Great job on the comparisons 😊 The fold would have to UP it's game a lot more for me to want to buy it. Too many non-starters at this point and the S22 Ultra is simply amazing ♥️
Are they are capable shooting 8K video?
Have you tested the battery on the fold 4 the iPhone 13 pro max has a smaller battery than both Samsung's batteries but will out last both
