The writers of Honest Trailers sit down with Peyton Reed director of Ant-Man and the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp to watch the original Honest Trailer and get his reaction!
It's Honest Reactions along with Honest Trailers Commentary for Ant-Man!

I would love to see one of these with Taika Waititi for Ragnarok
Katie Signer Please God
The sow would be an hour! lol
Haha, my stubby fingers wrote sow instead of show!
Jess_Marie_G I would watch an hour of this with Taika... I mean this was a half hour
the hell is a sow?

His Michael Douglass impression was on point.
I literally thought that Michael Douglas made a surprise appearance when i heard that.
HDCLAN H it deserved much more appreciation from the hosts
What time ??
They have very similar voices

Cool to see Peyton Reed do this. I always love when the directors react to the Honest Trailers of their movies. He does a really good impression of Michael Douglas.
Yeah! His Michael Douglas is really on point. LoL
Michael Sandoval even kinda looks like him
yes and he seems like a really good sport about it
Yeah, he does; I always had this feeling about him, from what I've read and what I know of his work, that he's just a really relaxed and good-natured fellow who also has a keenly-sensitive, deeply-passionate side to him. I mean, I didn't know his directorial record but when I looked it up, I was impressed at his understated range and sense of tone... I mean, back when FOX was working on their initial "Fantastic Four" movie, he pitched a really great premise for it that was balls-to-the-walls - with the Fantasticar and other 60s-style elements, the works... after Edgar Wright left, we were definitely blessed to have him and the crew that came with him to right the ship and make this movie work (and in all honesty, knowing what I knew before AND after this video I actually prefer what Peyton Reed did to what Wright was planning... no Janet Van Dyne? Travesty!)
It's uncanny!
LMAO
Them: "From Edgar wright"
Peyton Reed: "PAUSE"
Them is a movie about giant ants...
Finally! the pause guy finally did the pausing right!
Ikr
it only took years of training
"I looked like a malnourished Jeff Bridges" Man, invite Peyton Reed back more often, this guy is hilarious.
Justin Clowater honestly just add Peyton Reed to all their videos
Gotta love when a guy knows how to take a joke.
He was a bit defensive on a few of them. In fact, he pauses before the first joke is actually finished.
I didnt find him defensive at all. Most of the stuff he said was clearly a joke. Just like pausing it right away was for comedic effect aswell.
Yoshi Dinono you dont get ironic humor huh.
The thing is also that this trailer wasn't that negative tbh.
EgocentricHead Hater
Really show how much influence videos like this on RUclips currently have, by having the director of ant man here.
thebahooplamaster
And being sponsored by McDonald's.
I mean this is the first RUclipsr I've personally seen being directly sponsored by McDonald's.
its not his first time on SJ, you may even call him a friend of the show. Back in 2015, he was on the SJ Show talking spoilers and easter eggs after the first Ant-Man was released, he even invited the Russos
The parent company, Defy media is pretty big. Just recently they had Chris Pratt on a Smosh game show but ultimately it's just advertisement. They get really good views at the end of the day they would be stupid not to see that.
scalpingsnake Defy no longer owns screen junkies. Defy sold screen junkies to fandom this week.
So true. When I introduced this channel to my call mates all they did was ignore me and switch off the smart board. Those losers don't know how much they are missing in there life
Taika watiti next
You are an actual genius
Twotailedpikachu YEUUUSSSS!! I need this in my life, SJ....
Let’s start a petition to get this done
truly brilliant idea! if Taika ever agreed I sure hope they'd also touch upon "what we do in the shadows" just a bit for it was glorious.
(the movie, I mean. I think there's going to be a TV series about it next year but I don't know any details)
Twotailedpikachu Omg yes please
That was definitely the best show of a director watching the Honest Trailer. Not saying the others were bad, but Reed really made this one awesome. Great sense of humor.
The one they did with the John Wick directors was really entertaining as well.
Reed was really in depth in this one!
Ok but remember when Edgar Wright was going to direct ant man
Phaota The Russos were awesome
@Margeretha Falco Yes, they were. Like I said in my comment, none of the other videos with directors were bad, but I thought Reed was great.
Please do one with taika for Thor Ragnarok
Do you have Taika's number? They don't.
k9commander if they got the russos and this dude den anything's possible
I feel like it would be at least an hours worth of comedy and genius and sharing the love of music
OH MY GOD YES!!!
I'd watch that in a heartbeat
He's so chill
That sounds Cool
Honestly even though Ant-man isn't my favourite MCU movie and Reed isn't my favourite MCU director he sounds like a really cool person to hang out with
butterflysurvive based on his portfolio...years of practice.
I have zero knowledge of you, but, I can guess you are "chill" during an interview. Just like Peyton Reed.
Please do these as often as possible. They're so great.
If you haven't already done so, check out their commentaries series on the other channel (ScreenJunkies News) where they do a weekly aftershow commenting on their own honest trailer. I enjoy them more than the actual trailers, honestly.
Holy shit, perfect Michael Douglas impression!
Directors reacting to honest trailers is the best thing! You get to see them chilling out and giving so much great input to the observations made by the guys
The de-aged Michael Douglas looked fine enough in Ant-Man 1, but he looks even better in the new one. Wasn't a problem at all.
I was actually mad that that didn't get an Oscar nom for special effects. I felt like I was watching a scene from War of the Roses or something; it was that good imo.
The de-aged Kurt Russel in Guardians 2 is also incredibly on point. It felt like one of his 80's movies was spliced into the film.
It was the best in endgame tho
12:40
Ant-Man Director: I worried about CGI young Dr.Pym because it is the first scene in the movie and I don't want the audience is like: ur, look, that is terrible.
Wanner Bros and Joss Whedon: no one give a f*** about this Justice League, open it with that weird CGI mustache, who cares?
hey that cgi mustache was glorious
That is not exactly fair. Especially not on Whedon. I think that movie needed to open with that scene. It is one of the things that worked about that film. And the mustache could have worked if given enough time to fix it. But WB execs wanted those bonuses
Peyton was absolutely right for worrying about freaking people out with uncanny valley in the very first scene. Because when I went to see Justice League, that first scene with Superman's face just completely took me out of the movie from the get-go and I was in a pessimistic mood for the rest of the film. First impressions matter a lot and that was not the right way to start off your movie.
I think most of the blame should go to the studio execs as opposed to Whedon. But even still, they should have spent more time on that first scene. Cause I think that most of the shots of Superman's face in the movie weren't THAT bad. But the first scene was easily the worst looking one and should have been prioritized more.
This was the same reason I couldn’t get into rogue one, Tarkin looked so fake. Somehow marvels vfx people have made it work in all of their scenes.
I have never thought about what happened if they screw up Michael Douglas face but now that you mention Justice League, Reed was spot on to be worried. And it was on WB executives btw..
We should all take a shot every time the director says, “Pause.”
HindsightPOV From A Gun?
oh no that's the Eurovision Drinking Game
A shot of water?
HindsightPOV
A shot of the movie?
todd johnson this aint marvel roulette.
The de-aging effect in Ant-Man and the Wasp was done really well. I had forgotten for a moment that the actors are actually much older than that.
22:40 I just realized now that the Avenger they got, was Falcon, played by ANThony Mackie.

What other Honest Reactions would you love to see? Let us know in the comments below and thanks for watching!
Screen Junkies infinity war
Screen Junkies Black Panther
Screen Junkies the director of iron man
I don’t have a specific one in mind but it could be cool if you got an author to react to an Honest Trailer for a movie based on their book.
get nolan or emma thomas ,lol and do nolan's honest trailer, lol
I haven't felt this bad about an ant dying since Honey I Shrunk The Kids
maybetoby #truth
Mr Pickles they brought it up first in the video lol
Oh cool you got not Edgar Wright!
All kidding aside he did a great job and can’t wait for Ant-man and the Wasp.
Thomas Grindol it's a great movie
Tri-Guy44 I haven’t seen it yet and I can’t wait to. I just know it’s been getting mixed reviews
Just A guy It depends on your point of view. I found it good. Also, the reviews aren't too much of mixed bag, but more of a mid-tier marvel movie. Which is quite positive. For example, on rotten tomatoes, 87% of critics like the movie, and 80% was the audience rating. So, I think most likely you will probably like the movie. I'm just going to say it has unique premise from the other marvel films, it's also quite light compared to infinity war. It's also has a lot of humor, it's comparable to Thor Ragnarok in that regard.
Both were good. I have respect for this guy. I hope he keeps making good movies. Wasp 3 after thanos kills Paul Rudd later this month I guess.
Still go for that Moranis cameo. Please
Sharp Design Yes! As soon as they said that my mouth dropped open in excitement at the idea of him playing Scott's dad....although sadly I think he's officially retired from acting
he's been more lax maybe he could be convinced, if for a good reason.
Sharp Design
If nothing more, they can at least have characters watching Honey on a TV and talking about it or something. If they can't get Rick to do it, at least
looking for ants or antman himself. like he did on honey i shrunk the kids. that would be hilarious, and it would hit home on the 80s nostalgia.
Yus!!! Wut a good idea!
I love that some directors get a chance to react and speak about the honest trailers
Kudos to Peyton for doing this as making a movie is a passion product for any director that takes years to get made. SO nice to see him look at his work with a sense of humor for these critics. Very impressed.
I saw Antman and The Wasp today liked it lot. He was a great sport this was fun to watch.
Reacher420 I think it’s as good as the first film
I love seeing directors that are willing to discuss their movies with the Honest Trailer crew and actually explain things about the movie that the Honest Trailer crew criticized (or just agree that some parts of the movie didn't make a ton of sense lol)
I luv that 30 sec Ants Ants AntMan i was really hoping they would of done another one for the new movie that thing makes me laugh every time i watch it lol.
Jay J “Wasps. Wasps. The Wasp.”
_cuts to title_
Ants! Wasps! Ants! Wasps! Ant-Man and the Wasp!
Would love to see a Movie Fights: Marvel Directors Edition with Peyton Reed, Taika Waititi and James Gunn!
Having just seen the movie, you could tell Dan and Peyton wanted to talk about some of the things from the second movie, but couldn't yet. Yet another great MCU movie.
Karen Stepko I'd be cool with them getting him to be a part of the Honest Trailer like what happened with Skull Island.
Taika or Gunn????
Both
Rorschach2992 Both is good
Definitely both
Both
Taika and gun
Oh wait, we made a horrible mistake!
You want a dark and gritty Ant-Man? I'm sure DC is working on an Atom movie as we speak.
Nathaniel Vaughn As long as that doesn't mean screwing with the one in the Arrowverse I MIGHT be okay with that.
I’m no man to spoil new movies, but,
I’m a man of my word.
Doge Needs YOUR Help 👏👏👏👏👏👏
A small honest trailer and giant commentaries.
Yes , the discussion is the best part.
CommANTaries
8:38 Holy crap that’s an amazing Michael Douglas impression!
I’m sure they all keep their cool just fine during press-junket interviews, but it ~is~ fun watching how nervy they get when an entertainment biz person of any stature shows up at their usual hangout spot
Especially Spencer as the head writer
For reals. It's fun watching them fanboy over the creators.
And they got complimented on their honset trailers. ☺
Really like Peyton Reed. Humble and very self-aware. Its nice when its easy to like the guys who make the movies you like. Makes me want to keep going back to the Peyton Reed well. Thanks guys!
He's actually really down to earth and you can tell he's a fan of the character. Honestly feel like he's kinda underrated along with the whole ant man franchise
Hope this get upwards of a million views. Because HONESTly, do people realize how crazy these are? A director watching direct criticism and jokes about their film and having to address it on the spot? It’s an insane “get” and by golly we should all be grateful.
Probably won’t ever happen, but I can only imagine how it would be if they brought in Michael Bay to a Honest Reactions
Jesus Contreras nahhh they dislike that dude plus wouldn’t want these guys to cave in and be nice to him lol
Might want to have a few cops on board
Bay would probably explode with the commentaries of these guys ..
he doesn't really look like he can take a shot at his work like that.
@@AlanMartinez-bj7kw Well sorry “wouldn’t want” isn’t going to determine whether or not they’ll actually be nice to him.
"Don't fire the weirdo...embrace that weirdo,embrace him !"
As awesome as Edgar would have been, I can honestly say Peyton was a fantastic choice for these movies. The first one is my third favorite MCU film, and I can’t wait to see what Reed does with this upcoming one. Also, Reed is hilarious!
Christian Paystrup I didn’t really like it remember Ant Man 1 that much, but this one is a lot better (no breaks in action and comedy, more Michael Douglas, etc)
+Christian Paystrup First AntMan is my number two, just after winter soldier... xDxD
Christian Paystrup
Edgar Wright had no Janet, microverse and Falcon.
Peyton Reed did a great job. He even added the Louis scenes, which I thought were Edgar's idea.
I honestly hope marvel choose him if they can’t get Taikai Waititi for Guardian vol 3
I love these director commentaries on honest trailers so much. I wish more directors had sequels to promote.
This is why I have so much respect for the MCU... it's led by a fan with a clear vision working collaboratively with the fans
Lizzie Booth lol what
What?
@@TheExecutioner21 OP means that directors were fans themselves who knew what the fans wanted.
The Honest Reactions were one of my favorite things back in the SJ+ days. These are so fun I wish more directors where cool enough to come on and do this. Peyton Reed was so cool on this, when ever you can if you can please do more.
Have to point out that Peyton's Michael Douglas voice is perfect.
It's perfect. I was surprised
Tessa Thompson has some latina heritage. .. does that count?
Zoe Saldana as well... Benicio Del Toro.
Natalia Cordova-Buckley/Elena 'Yo-Yo' Rodriguez and Gabriel Luna/Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple in all the Netflix shows
Theo Rossi as Shades in Luke Cage
They're part of the MCU in my heart
Dave Bautista also if I remember but yeah they completely forgot about Zoe
Laffalot The C in MCU stands for Cinematic, which by definition excludes television shows.
Maximiliano Hernández as Agent Sitwell from Winter Soldier.
Maybe Latino in terms of the characters, too? Sitwell being the closest one, maybe, and also the strawberry vendor from Iron Man 2.
8:38 He did a spot on impression of Micheal Douglas 😂😂
Now I’m wondering what would happen if they did reactions with James Gunn & Taika Waititi for the Guardians movies & Ragnarok.
You should get Brad Bird for The Incredibles!
This!
They should have James Gunn watch either the Honest Trailer for GOTG Vol. 1 or Vol. 2.
Or both
oof
This didn't age well
@@daires5210 did now lol
Ok, we all have to admit that Peyton does a pretty good Michael Douglas impression.
I just watched Ant Man and the Wasp 2 days ago, and I like the direction Reed is going with the Ant Man series.
That Douglas impression was sick!
the thing Director said about Yellow Jacket a the end, with how there's a chance that he could have gone subatomic/quantum realm. Man I hope that would be [SPOILER AHEAD]
how ant man able to get out from being trapped at the end of ant man 2, that would be awesome
Just think...I began watching Screen Junkies back when the best sponsors they could get were the Shoe-dini and erectile disjunction herbs, and now they have McDonalds! Progress fellas!
Doctor Strange gets stranger the higher you are. Also gets more terrifying.
The pause guy actually did his job this time
Awesome! One of the best if not the best director critiques yet. His commentary on 'Scooott" from Candleabra was cracking me up!
at 23:55 they where planning it al along (ant man quantum mania).
Bro he just revealed that modok is Yellowjacket
13:47 jabs at Justice League and didn't even do it on purpose
Why are you bringing that into this? We’re talking about Ant-Man here.
Disposable Marvel Villains:
1. Iron Monger
2. Abomination
3. Vhiplash
4. Red Skull
5. Fake Mandarin/Killian
6. Malekith
7. Ronan
8. Ultron
9. Cross/Yellow Jacket
Brent Dreher red skull didn't die
Red skull doesn’t count anymore
Zai why not? He was the villain in First Avenger, and then he got banished to planet whatsit and became a shell of himself that was no longer capable of villaining
Zai to clarify, when I say disposable I don't necessarily mean dead, just used once and done
Until [SPOILER ALERT] Ghost finally broke the Marvel disposing villain's pattern.
Unless if Thanos alone kills her with his snap...
Get Michael Pena to narrate the honest trailer for Ant Man and the Wasp.
Kudos to the Directors who has the BALLS to come at Honest Trailer H.Q., to really talk about their movie and correct everybody and everything. #Respect
I'm genuinely surprised that Luis' rambling tips are not an Edgar Wright idea. If there was anything in Ant-Man that seemed like his -- outside of the fight scene with the two guards -- I thought it'd be Luis and his stories.
Funny how the two most Edgar Wright scenes in that film weren't from him at all.
Love when you guys get the directors to do this, so awesome!
Paul Rudd was schlubby AF in This Is 40. That was the point
That Douglass impression was spot on!
Shout out to Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp are fantastic fun movies!
These Director Reacts are so cool! Please try to bring us more directors, because besides being funny it also gives us a lot of knowledge behind the movie making process.
I love you guys for having this idea!
I petition for an Honest Trailer and subsequent Honest Trailer Reaction for Gotti! Get Dan and E from Entourage or whatever other chuckleheads are responsible for that movie in a room together!
They need to set it up as another charity event, and then get Scoops McGee to do the honest trailer/commentary.
I love the sucker punch bit at 15:06 and the conversation about it
Give us an Honest Trailer reaction of “Jurassic Park III” with Joe Johnston. He has a sense of humor, right?
ALAN
Alan???
Dr. Grant?
Would I want that or Cap 1? How about a 3rd option, they do a Honest Trailer for The Rocketeer and then get him for that.
They got the "Thor" writer, they got the "Ant-Man" director, they got the Russo brothers, they the directors of "John Wick", they got the director of "Deadpool", and the co-director of "The Lion King". I'm sure it's hard to get people like that in, and it's usually because they're promoting the sequel, but here's some of the one I'd love to see.
-The Russo Brothers again for either Civil War or Infinity War.
-Ryan Coogler for Black Panther
-The director of Spider-Man: Homecoming (forget his name)
-James Gunn for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 or 2
-Patty Jenkins for Wonder Woman
-Ron Moore, Brannon Braga, or Rene Echevarria for Star Trek: TNG
-Taiko Watiti for Thor: Ragnarok
-Robert Zemeckis for Forrest Gump (or Back to the Future)
Finally!, they hired a professional video pausing guy...
That was really cool! Love when you guys have the directors to get their comments!
*Spoilers for the sequel!*

In the end credits scene, when the characters dust away leaving Ant-man in the microverse, the theater I sat at gasped and screamed. People were yelling obscenities at the screen! It was great. So hype for next year.
Carlos Rodriguez Saw it today and a guy shouted, "NO! FUCK!"
That left me and I think a lot of the audience in shock. Helluva ending!
At my local cinema, everyone was like "OH MY GOD THE SNAP!" and went absoultely ballistic
Honestly,I was more shook by the END credits scene when they showed the fuzzy television and the window to barren New York behind the Ant. The ant itself with its little drum gag gave the sense of the movie mocking your emotions AND attempting to console you at the same time.
SAME I mean I was expecting there to be some nod to Infinity War's ending but like... not that
That’s a really good Michael Douglas impression!
Pena in not the only latino in the MCU, there was also agent Sitwell.
Gabriele Lmao, I only noticed when I saw him in Sicario.
There's more on the TV shows
Christopher Scotts he’s in winter soldier and I think Avengers
Don't think tv shows count as part of the Cinematic part of the universe.
IP Films Yeah, I know. Im just saying that there's more latinos on the TV shows
Payton Reed has a great sense of humor, thanks so much for doing this! I greatly enjoyed the video!
I'd like to see either James Cameron react to one of your trailers to his movies, or Michael Bay. That would be fun.
Jesus, his Michael Douglas impression is absolutely perfect. 👍😍
I'm here for Rick Moranis as Papa Lang
I like the comments about how he just wanted to get the quantum realm included to have it included as a fan.
Only for it to be a central element of the biggest episode of the MCU.
I would love to see a Colin Trevorrow reaction to JW honest trailer.
These honest reaction are AWESOMENESSLY FANTASTIC!! I'd hope you could do these more frequently.
I can’t be the only one who enjoyed Incredible Hulk
Chronicledlegacy wait people didnt like that? In my top 3 favourite MCU movies
I'm with you. I really enjoyed the Incredible Hulk
Chronicledlegacy I liked the Incredible Hulk
Chronicledlegacy
It’s the most underrated film in the MCU.
Nah, it gets just enough shade.
I'll still never forget that story of the drawing Peyton Reed drew decades ago (which is findable) of the original first Avengers comic cover where he had himself as Ant-Man, then he goes on to direct not one, but TWO great Ant-Man films. . Life sometimes works out in freaking mysterious, awesome ways...:)
Every 5 seconds: "PAUSE"
This is my favourite Honest Reaction to the Honest Trailer. I have watched it a few times. This whole discussion is so organic that the result is fantastic.
My girlfriend cried when Anthony died !
Sure, your girlfriend did, not you.
Suvi-Tuuli Allan i weeped a bit, i admit it
Pause guy finally on point!! New guy deserves a raise! Lol
Do Taika Waititi pleaseeeeee 😂
True story regarding "Antony": My wife had a teddybear with her (she collects them) when we saw "Antman". She loved Antony, and during the movie she leaned over and whispered to me that she was going to name her bear Antony. Just a few seconds later we saw Antony get blown away. She cried.
Yes! So excited for a new one of these!
Fantastic commentary! I appreciated learning so much more about making the film.
They had it planned out from the beginning you guys. MODOK was planned all along!!!
I loved him! I love how he didn't take himself or the movie too seriously he was so great hope you bring him on more !
