Scrooge McDuck is famously recognized as the richest duck in the world. Although estimates of the sum of Scrooge’s wealth has been disputed, the most generous estimate in The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck puts his earnings at five multiplujillion, nine impossibidillion, seven fantasticatrillion dollars and sixteen cents. With this type of money he has become the richest and most influential member of The Billionaires Club of Duckburg and has allowed him to fill a vault with gold coins for him to dive into like a porpoise, but how did this old duck earn his lavish fortune?

One point that you missed is that Scrooge didn't immediately go and get rich in the Klondike gold rush. He wandered the word for nearly 20 years before he finally struck rich in Klondike. I think that's an important part about his journey, since it establishes how Scrooge didn't just get lucky, but made his fortune through hard work and never giving up.

Friend of mines parents filled their above ground lap pool up with gold chocolate coins for their birthday. The pictures I saw were great. The even sent all the kids and their parents home with money bags filled with the same coins. He brought a few to school to share with every one! That was so cool.

One of the best things about life and times is that it's not just about the riches Scrooge accquires. As he himself says, he spent 20 long years after he first left Scotland searching for a way to become rich until he found his first wealth in White Agony Creek.

@@epion660 He is just a symbol of American Dream more exactly illusion of a myth. In reality coming to USA and working there up to riches for most it was nightmare and hard work. Only second or third generation managed to get better positions in society. For first generation immigrants to get rich either has to be incredibly lucky, smart, cunning or heartless bastard in starting buisness or already coming from wealthy family. Besides starting from rock-bottom till getting rich is either trough criminal gangs, putting everything on very risky buisness being gold miner or trying to get government official positions and from there take big bribes.

You may have missed out that at some point, Scrooge did not gain all his fortune with honesty. In one of the comics, he hires a group of thugs to destroy a local village in Africa, possibly to get revenge on a witch doctor. During the that last issue before he became the billionaire, he became over protective of his fortune, bad tempered, foul mouthed and cynical towards people including his own family. There has been a few dark moments in the comics which show how Scrooge made his fortune and survived in a world of greedy corrupt people trying to steal his money.

I had some idea how he made all his money, having read at least 3 of the comics, but this definitely helped fill a few gaps! I also have a few suggestions on videos to do in the future: Anastasia, Bartok, Sing (haven't actually seen the movie yet but it definitely looks like something you could do a theory vid on, perhaps how it may connect with Zootopia?)

Could have gone more into depth with the Life and Times storyline there, it's actually super interesting... For example, the very first thing he did in America was sail a riverboat with his uncle on the Mississippi. There's also the time he was chasing bandits in the badlands with Theodore Roosevelt... Or his time in Africa where he was infamous for taming lions and using them as his primary mode of transportation

Small objection - Scrooge's problem with the dime wasn't that it was a piddly amount of money. Rather, he took exception to the payment because an American dime was all but unusable in 19th-century Glasgow. Not knowing that his father was behind it, he felt that he'd been stiffed.

To avoid AR Cs problem, you should consider building a nonprofit transition housing system that you own and keep. The best way for it to work would be if you started a property management and construction firm, whose sole purpose was to build, maintain and offer studio sized properties to impoverished people as a transitioning house.
Install a form of voluntary rent, where each month you ask for a chunk of cash, which at the end of their time with your business, will all at once be given back to them to use to buy a property of their own. Successfully transitioning the homeless and impoverished up to the low-middle class.
You could work alongside career advisor groups to help find these people good work to do and build up their resumes. I know of a few places in San Francisco which do this with apartments but I haven't seen one who purpose builds places. I think it may be overall cheaper in the long term to maintain, though I have nothing to back that up other than basic property costs.
You can get some initial money together to buy some acre of land and build a small place on it for maybe, what.. 50k maybe? More research will be needed from your local area land and material costs. A home equity loan might cover it if you own a place. Otherwise you'll need to try and fish around for a philanthropic investor, which will be easier to find in the city if you're there. Just need to know where to look. I can probably pull up a few books on finding and talking to investors if you're interested in pressing.
The majority of your business model will be built on the back of donations from those who want to help from what I know of similar projects. However it is very possible. Capitalism tends to reward those who help others.

In my country, there was a satiric short story "Scrooge McDuck's Death" explaining Scrooge's wealth comes from his business and political role in Duckburg. Check "Kematian Paman Gober" on Google (in Indonesia, Gober is name for Scrooge, from Dagobert in Germany and Netherlands)
The story itself explained about Indonesian politics, people hoping for Soeharto's death. Lack of freedom of speech made the creator had to make it into a Scrooge fanfiction

When I would read The Duck Stories by Carl Barks, and in modern days by Don Rosa, to my kids, I would impress upon them how Scrooge comes to realize that family is the most important thing, even more so than money. When it comes down to it, he'll sacrifice for them. But that's not all. When someone has been loyal to him, he will return the loyalty and put their lives above his fortune (see North of the Yukon). And more, when he has inadvertently caused a misfortune, he will sacrifice his own well being to make things right (I don't remember the title, but in a space adventure, he accidentally drove away the only food supply of an aboriginal tribe, so he sacrificed a huge chunk of fortune to arrange for them to reach a plentiful land they could only see but were never able to reach before).
