I’ve done frees riding in the past dh amd enduro. but I started out on a budget Hardtail. not everyone has the money to get an S-WORKS stumpy for they’re beginning days. i then switched to an affordable dh bike and have ridden it for years until I moved to a new home and had a lot of painful climbs. I sold my demo 8. and got the izzo pro. My point is that not everyone gets to get royal treatment when it comes to mtb. My saying here really is that you don’t have to have the greatest and the latest to shred and have fun.

There’s a lot of overlap but just think of it as an Enduro bike is for the racing discipline where it’s worth the sacrifice of climbing ability and weight for all out downhill stability and speed. All mountain bikes still have fairly big travel numbers but are a little more uphill friendly, maybe a little lighter and agile than a full Enduro bike.

Great bike , rides smooth ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing

IMO, it’s way more adjustable than the SB, and once you get used to the swat box you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. I haven’t had to wear a backpack/Camelback in years, just a small hip pack and that in itself is a game changer. The expert model seems to be the best bang for the buck. I currently have the 2019 Evo pro and it rips.

the stumpy evo is more comparable to the sight than the optic. The sight is an all mountain bike where as the optic is more of a trail bike.

Specialized doesn't yet produce the Roval Traverse 38 SL Fattie in a 29. That 38mm inner rim would mate well with 2.6 GRID tires and this Evo build. That gets you the max performance from this bike.

I feel these reviews are too specs based.
Where’s the esoteric description of how it rides? Where’s the talk about ‘feel’?? Basically, Mike, please give us a review that can be differentiated from a detailed spec sheet analysis!
...oh wait...are the differences between bike brands all determined by what fits on a sheet of paper? My bad. Shame though.

Agreed - also I was wondering why they seem to review the top of the range bike (which realistically are probably the fewest bought) when they should review the "cheapest" (often more than used cars) which the majority of ppl will buy.

I ride this bike now since two months and it is "ok" but not "very good" in any way. Good things: Versatile geometry with lots of possible adjustments and a nice look and feel in general (not overly stiff, balanced geometry), but I found many problems so far. The fork shows strong bushing play, the DPX2 had some air inside the hydraulics, the paint job is so bad, if u remove some dust with your gloves on the paint will actually scratch. Plus, after removing the protection film form the frame the paint became lose and is now stuck to the protection film in one area. This should not be the case in this price category :( didnt have any problems with my Transition Patrol's (2x) that I rode the last 6 years so now I try to get a replacement frame... I hope this will be fixed soon so that I can go out and ride my bike again.
