      What led to his NBA career being a bust was him just not being a very good player. He averaged 15 ONE SEASON. Every other season he just wasn’t good enough to be on a roster and his personality/attitude made it an easy decision for nobody to want him even after his 1 good season.

      Even with demar on the team from 2018-19 to 2020-21, they only had a winning record once. My whole point is that if pop was actually a good coach and was not a product of a great set of players from before (parker, duncan, ginobili, kawhi), he should def have had some winning seasons with the team that he had. Obv, they started to tank after demar left, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he still did not maximize the roster he had when demar and murray was still there.

      Lmao. Jokic is the best passing big of all time by a decent margin and has had one the best offensive stretches of any player ever. Jokic is a 2 time MVP, probably about to be 3 time. Pau and Marc were never close to being MVP caliber players. They have 1 All NBA first selection COMBINED in their 31 seasons. Jokic has 4 in just 9. Jokic has been the best player a championship team and the FMVP. Pau was 2nd best on both of his and Marc was like the 5th best on his and both we of course never FMVP either... This take has to be a joke?
      Jokic averages 30-11-9 since breaking out in 2019 against Rudy Gobert (3x DPOY, maybe 4 after this year)
      Averages 22-11-7 against Embiid who's an MVP himself and All Defensive center.
      Averaged 34-10-8 on Wemby this year who is a DPOY candidate.
      27-11-10 against Giannis and Lopez who are DPOY and All defensive players
      21-12-7 against Bam who's all defensive guy.
      24-11-7 against AD who's a All Defensive and DPOY candidate

    • @MoralesCorner
      @MoralesCorner 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@drago2689 Gil was right, Jokic is just a more advanced version of the Gasol brothers. They were bigs who could pass and shoot, were mobile and had a soft touch around the basket. Marc was also a very good defender. They had great basketball IQ and understood the game playing the right way. Jokic just tops them on all categories being able to do everything they did and more while being the leader of a championship team. There's really no comparison. Dirk would have been a better comparison, but I think the Joker might have already surpassed him too

    • @drago2689
      @drago2689 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@MoralesCorner I mean "more advanced" meaning better in basically every way then sure. They might have semi similar skill sets in terms of what they're good at but the skill gap is big and how they play is fundamentally different from Jokic.
      Jokic isn't just the best passin big ever, he's one of the best passers ever overall. He's been averaging more apg the past couple years then Pau and Marc did in there best seasons COMBINED. His career average in ppg and TS% are higher than either Marc or Pau's best seasons ever. He's definitely already passed Dirk in terms of prime/peak, only thing Dirk has on him now is longevity and even then I don't think I'd use that to warrant him over Jokic at this point especially if Jokic gets another MVP/championship this year.

      Duncan is in my top 5 as well but I don't see how that effects Popovich being all time great coach. Pop has made countless players significantly better and been as consistently successful as any coach ever. Most wins regular season, 2nd most playoffs, and most combined. Tied for 2nd most championships and has the 5th highest win % of any coach with 10+ seasons
      I mean Jackson had Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and then Kobe and Shaq, and then Kobe and Gasol, he never had a season where he didn't have a top 10 player of all time to put that into perspective. When Pat Riley coached the Heat and they didn't have a ton of talent outside of Wade they were terrible as well.
      The idea that a good coach is supposed to overcome a complete lack of talent of on a roster is absurd. Also Popovich still had the Spurs contending after Duncan for a few years and then a near 50 win playoff season after getting rid of Leonard too.

      @drago2689 6 месяцев назад

      @@Rapastoned both comparisons you made are terrible. Spurs have only really been in rebuild mode for the past 2 years. All the time before that they were either a playoff or play in team.
      Thunder are a bad example because OKC had one of the quickest rebuilds in sports history because of the insane amount of assets they were able to trade for. They got an MVP candidate in SGA, JWilliams, Chet, Dort, Giddey, Joe, Wiggins, Wallace, and a bunch of other picks. And they were pretty mediocre for a number of years. Pretty unfair to compare them to a team with a lot less assets and being comprised of Devin Vassel, Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan, Zach Collins, etc...
      And Memphis improved by 1 win with Ja the first year and missed the playoffs. They also then picked up JJJ, Bane, Adams, Vale, Clarke, Jones, Melton, Brooks, etc.

    I kinda agree on the Gasol brothers Jokic take, not Mark but definitely Pau. 08/09 the NBA shifted from bigs and Jokic never played with a Kobe type. The best player he played with is Murray and we all know where Murray stands he's just a another Marcus Smart

      @@damiane1015 except not really. In 2018 Spurs made the playoffs with Kawhi out with injury the whole year, 2019 they made the playoffs again after trading Kawhi, 2020 they were a play in seed team (play-in didn't exist yet), and then they were a play-in team in both 2021 and 2022. They have only actually been bad last year when they had a bunch of injuries and tanked and then this year when they were mostly just experimenting and getting Wemby prepped and adjusted for NBA level ball.
      Like yeah they aren't aren't good because their best player is a rookie and the supporting cast is Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones. Jeremy Sochan, Devin Vassel, and Zach Collins... I don't see how he's overrated. Clearly a top 3 coach ever regardless.

      @@damiane1015 and not winning with lackluster talent isnt a "most coaches" thing, it's a all coaches thing. Name one coach who has made legit success without star players? Honestly the Spurs have actually been the biggest overachieving dynasty in the history of the league given the talent. Manu and Parker were good but not as good as the 2 and 3 on any of these other dynasties and DRob was never the same after his injury in '97. And as pointed out in the video, Parker and Ginobili were developed into stars because of Pop. The amount of guys whose careers have been revitalized or built entirely by Pop and his system is ridiculous. The 2014 Spurs didn't actually have any player near superstar level (the core 3 were old and Leonard hadn't broken out yet, only all star that year was Parker with 16-3-6) and yet they won the Finals in dominating fashion and are arguably a top 10 team ever primarily because of great coaching.
