I totally understand your stance on losing control. The closest I've ever been to getting drunk was about five or six years ago. That day when I got off work, I decided to treat myself by eating out that night and found a pub at a mall that had a special deal of lobster pasta with vodka. The food was very hot and dry, and as a result I must of had at least four shots before I requested they give me water. I didn't even like the vodka, I was just drinking it in order to make the food go down easier and because it was hot. Well, after I left the pub, I still had my faculties but my motor skills were now sluggish and my head was spinning all over the place. I didn't feel confident enough to drive, so I decided to try and walk it off. I stumbled into a Target, browsed around the isles before an employee asked me to leave. I then laid down on a park bench for a bit until I threw up. That was such a degrading experience.
Not only do I think I am a lightweight when it comes to handling alcohol, like you, I am confident I am someone with an addictive personality. I know this because whenever I have a bag of candy, large amounts of chocolate or soda such as Coca-Cola. I would have consumed it all in maybe half an hour because of my sweet-tooth (hence why my dental bills are so high). So I probably wouldn't be able to control myself when it comes to consuming alcohol or any other addictive substance out there. I already have terrible control over how I eat anything that contains sugar. I think if the day ever comes when I start abusing drugs and alcohol, it will be the worst thing that can happen to me.

@@barbiquearea I always thought that alcohol was slightly less potent when cooked.
I do enjoy eating lobster though.

@@mattchongunfiltered The vodka wasn't cooked. They gave me a little bottle and a shot glass. I bottle was tiny and didn't have a lot, probably 300 ml. The lobster was pretty good though. Mixed with cheesy macaroni, it was pretty good.
I do love eating lobster. I would always buy a gourmet lobster pie at my local farmer's market every month. It has lobster bits mixed in with cheese. They are a bit pricy but delicious.

This is going to be all over the place. My thoughts are jumbled and I'm so happy to see this video to humble me. My name's Joe and I'm a severe alcoholic and I'll pretty much do whatever drug you give me. But alcohol is my choice.
Something made me see this video. I'm going through a horrible bout of pancreatitis from alcoholism for the 7th or 9th or whatever'th time and possibly something worse. I have new symptoms that I've never had and have been recently diagnosed as diabetic and as such have been monitoring my blood sugar and taking insulin when needed and such. I know if I don't stop, if I get pancreatitis again, I will die. I knew before this that alcohol was going to kill me.
I was "straight-edge" most my life. Things happen and I turned to lots of drugs to cope then just alcohol because it's just down the road. I can just drive 1 minute around the corner and in 30 minutes, I feel better. I've been drinking almost 2L of vodka/day for a long time now. My liver and pancreas are not happy with me, and the pain I'm currently in doesn't let me forget. This is the longest bout with the inflammation that I've ever had, and with the new symptoms, I fear it's something more malicious. But I'll have to wait to see a doctor in a month.
My mom is dying, stage 4 cancer all over, and she was just hospitalized this morning with extreme pain in her appendix area. My issues are nothing compared to her suffering, as a 2 time survivor, and now it's obviously going to get the best of her. I will probably lose my mom before the end of this year and my brother takes care of her while I sit here selfishly numbing myself. I think about doing 'it' a lot lately, if you know what I mean. Especially when I get really happy, because when I'm randomly feeling happy I feel like I can do it, whereas when I'm down, I just want to cope. I won't, but I will reach out to someone if it gets close.
That being said, not trying to trauma dump but rather just share because my alcoholism has ruined my physical life, and my mentality. I was in great shape, now I'm not. I was mentally fit, now I see a psychiatrist and I'm on prescription drugs to keep me from having a panic attack every waking moment.
I encourage people not to drink. If you do, don't make it a habit because this is no way to die. I can't even remember truly the last time I lived rather than existed.
Jumbled thoughts over. Thank you for posting this video. You're a cool dude.

I'm very similar to you in that I never got drunk mainly due to not liking the taste of alcohol. I think part of it is because I have quite a bit of a sweet-tooth. And like yourself, I just don't enjoy the bitter taste of alcohol at all. Also, I suppose not having much of a social life at school meant that I didn't go to bars with friends or parties where booze was readily available. Heck, whenever I attend family gatherings, I'm the odd one out because while my brother, parents and other family members would down glasses and bottles like its going out of fashion. I just stick with soft drinks or juice. It probably because of this that I've had a lot of problems with my teeth (and spent thousands on dental work) but no other health issues whatsoever.

i share lots of the reasons you mentioned for not drinking.
for example i dont like the taste of alcohol and i dont want to be in a drunk state. i dont like the thought of me thinking and behaving differently because of being drunk.
i dont like spending money on alcohol. i prefer to save it or spend it for other things, like how i sometimes go out to eat, which is worth the money for me. but i wouldnt want to spend money on things like alcohol or smokes.
i also wonder if i would ever get addicted to alcohol if i started drinking it, so i never started drinking in the first place so far.
i also have been avoiding alcohol because of health concerns and feel like i am not missing out on anything important by not drinking alcohol.
i don't like when people in real life try to get me to drink, but overall it was mostly banter or a lighthearted attempt from them to see if i would drink.
i thought your video was interesting and liked hearing you talk about your experiences with drinking (or the lack thereof).
