Hey Ed, thanks for posting this footage. I’ve been kicking myself since NAB when I walked right by these, and I’ve been posting speculative videos about them and pestering DZO for samples ever since. It’s awesome to finally see some demo footage with these and they do not disappoint. I own the NiSi Athenas but I expect these to replace them as my primary set.
Hey Nick I think I watched one of your earlier vids on them, I think that's where I first heard about them! Would love to see (or shoot) a side by side with the Athena's - still not shot on them, but did see them in the flesh when I picked the Arles up and didn't realise how tiny they were!
Thanks Ed! I’ll definitely do some comparisons once I get my hands on the Arles. The Athenas are indeed tiny. But I'm happy to trade the larger size for the extra stop. That last stop from t1.8 to t1.2 or so is HUGE in my opinion.

Great vid Ed! These are looking really nice! DZO sent them out to a friend of mine and I'll have the opportunity to try them out on her Komodo and hopefully my FX30 too. Excited to see how they perform for myself 😁
Wow great video Ed. I feel like red should send you a V raptor because this footage was unreal. As for the lenses, I would choose these over a sigma set for sure. I would always choose Zeiss for sharpness and a “clean” look, but these have that creamy sharpness of a Leica R or Contax Zeiss, except with those unreal T stops. I like the “lens test” at rec709, but your grading is one of my favorite parts of your videos. So I’m glad I got to see that at the end.
Yeah I don't know how I feel about presenting everything as rec.709 footage as I love working with the footage in post... Definitely had to include some graded stuff at the end!
Yeah I've shot on my Vespids for a few years been looking to pick something up that offers something cleaner, very interested in these, Dulens and Athena's
Hey Ed, that wide shot at 1:04, your wife reading the book on the bench with her legs crossed. Is that the 35mm?? If so, the separation is remarkable given how wide the lens is. It makes me extremely excited. Also, yes focus throw is 270. Pricing appears to be $2149 per lens (according to Duclos lenses) or $1800 Eur (according to some EU site I saw before it appears to have been taken down). Other specs are available on Duclos, if they took them down they're still on the subsequent video I made 🙂
@@nick_salazar yeah it's a very quickly put together vid, shot the piece to camera the next day. But hopefully they give a quick insight! Hopefully I'll get my hands on them again for a little longer, ideally shoot a project with them so I can do a better overview!

The RED V Raptor is Vista vision so just a bit larger than full frame, used to show off the full capability of these lenses. It's a lovely camera, I wish I had one!

I'm gonna buy one! Super efficient to use, esp. when swapping lenses back and fourth. The VND maybe pushed the image slightly warmer but there are hard stop NDs you can slot in too which don't give you that. Couldn't see any IR issues either... But only 3 hours spent with it.
