I think it is important to remember that from Citlali's perspective, the ending with the graffiti fading and her standing sadly over a grave was pre-ordained and unavoidable. The specifics might vary but that fact never would. It is why she fought so hard to not leave the graffiti up. To let someone in like that means also letting in that pain. Living in constant fear of the unavoidable day that pain would arrive. In my opinion, for an immortal like Citlali, death isn't going to be the day she ceases to be. It will be the day she actually decides never to let someone in again and condemns herself to a life without that joy. During this trailer, I moved from slight dislike of this character as another “cutesy” tsundere type, to tearing up at her story. I love when immortality gets acknowledged this way in character writing. Bravo, hoyo

She has to witnessed the death of many of her loved ones, the pain is too much to bear like how Frieren and Zhongli felt. It only proves that living a very long life or having immortality does to a person makes it a curse, sure it sounds awesome…at first tho.

Aether is one of the few people in Natlan for Citlali to relate to when it comes to having a long life span. Maybe that's one of the reasons why she really enjoys her "friendship" with him knowing that Aether will not die from old age before her unlike everyone else in Natlan.

Genshin character trailer music never misses but this one hits on another level. The gradual build up of the piano and violin, then the vocal at the end, are just so perfect. The music reminds me of the anime Look Back and haruka nakamura's (the anime's composer) music in general. It feels hopeful throughout, but not without some somber and wistful tone sprinkled in. It's perfect for Citlali's story in this trailer. Eternal youth may have its benefits but outliving someone you care about is the price you have to pay. And letting go is never an easy process.
She is so cute, I can't believe They hate her just because she blushed, the poor thing has seen people leave, and obviously she was going to like the traveler because they are long-lived beings
I think because her promotion always show her acting childish ig. I hate her previous promotion but i quite like this one. I hope that hoyo show her more tragic story first and then the silly ones so that we could understand why she acted like that because some people might hate her for surface lvl things but theres more depth to her.
Some people are calling it waifu bait with how she interacts with the Traveller, but isn't it reasonable to develop a strong emotional connection to probably the first being you've ever met and made friends with that you won't outlive and have to watch die?
Also, love just works like that sometimes. You meet someone and a spark starts. I think they won't take the risk but I really want them to do it and deliver a new type of story with it. It would be great to read what they have to offer in that aspect. If somehow the traveler dies/nearly dies during 5.3, and after return Citlali steals a kiss, a hug or whatever... Oooh, that would be impressive. Some stories that really left a mark in me have scenes like that. Despite some ending up being heartbreaking, there is something valuable in it. It could be the beginning of something good and new.

Granny Citlali. Suffering from her eternal Youth like the Yokai in Inazuma and every other Immortal in Teyvat. I strongly believe Light novels are her way of Fighting erosion.
Except hers is even worse no? All those other long-lived beings in Teyvat have friends etc. that will live as long as them, they only lose friends to violence. She (like everyone else there) can't leave Natlan, and so everyone she's ever known until the Traveler she's had to or will eventually watch die.

There's something about the simplicity of the song in this trailer that hits home to me. The feeling of joy and gleefulness in the piano every time she wakes up to meet the girl, the buildup just before Citlali meets the girl again, only to turn into sadness the next moment, and the lullaby when she visits her grave, that has the 'end of a journey' kind of vibe and a hint of nostalgia, so even though the part itself doesn't sound somber or depressing, it still feels sad. I hope they release this song soon.

Aether is one of the few people in Natlan for Citlali to relate to when it comes to having a long life span. Maybe that's one of the reasons why she really enjoys her "friendship" with him knowing that Aether will not die from old age before her unlike everyone else in Natlan.

Genshin character trailer music never misses but this one hits on another level. The gradual build up of the piano and violin, then the vocal at the end, are just so perfect. The music reminds me of the anime Look Back and haruka nakamura's (the anime's composer) music in general. It feels hopeful throughout, but not without some somber and wistful tone sprinkled in. It's perfect for Citlali's story in this trailer. Eternal youth may have its benefits but outliving someone you care about is the price you have to pay. And letting go is never an easy process.
She is so cute, I can't believe They hate her just because she blushed, the poor thing has seen people leave, and obviously she was going to like the traveler because they are long-lived beings

Some people are calling it waifu bait with how she interacts with the Traveller, but isn't it reasonable to develop a strong emotional connection to probably the first being you've ever met and made friends with that you won't outlive and have to watch die?
Also, love just works like that sometimes. You meet someone and a spark starts. I think they won't take the risk but I really want them to do it and deliver a new type of story with it. It would be great to read what they have to offer in that aspect.
If somehow the traveler dies/nearly dies during 5.3, and after return Citlali steals a kiss, a hug or whatever... Oooh, that would be impressive. Some stories that really left a mark in me have scenes like that. Despite some ending up being heartbreaking, there is something valuable in it. It could be the beginning of something good and new.

Granny Citlali. Suffering from her eternal Youth like the Yokai in Inazuma and every other Immortal in Teyvat.
I strongly believe Light novels are her way of Fighting erosion.
Except hers is even worse no? All those other long-lived beings in Teyvat have friends etc. that will live as long as them, they only lose friends to violence. She (like everyone else there) can't leave Natlan, and so everyone she's ever known until the Traveler she's had to or will eventually watch die.

There's something about the simplicity of the song in this trailer that hits home to me.
The feeling of joy and gleefulness in the piano every time she wakes up to meet the girl,
the buildup just before Citlali meets the girl again, only to turn into sadness the next moment,
and the lullaby when she visits her grave, that has the 'end of a journey' kind of vibe and a hint of nostalgia, so even though the part itself doesn't sound somber or depressing, it still feels sad.
I hope they release this song soon.
