For us millennials who's parents didn't teach us the basics of cooking, these kinds of basic skill videos are extremely helpful. Thanks!
You're welcome!❤️
Sameeee, not disrespecting my parents but I wasn't taught!!!
I'm not one, but I tried to teach mine and they weren't interested. I wasn't taught much either and I love watching videos for better ideas than my own.
It’s because millennials want everything handed to them instead of trying to learn on their own.
@@FF-fh5cv you need a parent to teach you things when you’re a child. Your comment shows that your generation doesn’t understand that.
I recently lost my wife of 50 years, and I'm learning cooking tips all the time. Marsha Eileen - thank you for this wonderful way to boil chicken. Mine was turning out tough before, 'cause I was starting with boiling water and too high a temperature.
I'm sorry about your wife.
I, too, am always learning new cooking tips.
❤❤❤❤
My parents left to Mexico for 2 weeks and your videos literally helped me cook for my little brother and saved us from eating take out every day. I made him buffalo chicken sliders with this technique, thank you so much!
That is so awesome! You are very welcome!❤️
That’s a real brother, props to you
Me too brother 😫 they left me for 3 weeks and I gotta eat something else besides sandwiches
Lmao this is me rn
@@maplejubilee Do you put salt and pepper on yours? If so how much should I add?
I tried this method this evening for Mexican tortilla soup… O-M-G… makes SUCH a difference! I’ve always made my soup 1. Sauté onion 2. Add garlic 3. Add veg/chik broth 4. remaining ingredients 4. Bring to slight boil then add chicken breasts. At that point the soup is on a low but consistent boil. I’ll let it simmer until chicken is cooked (~20-25 min), then take chicken out, shred, add chicken back to soup. I’ve always like the result but my wife won’t touch the soup; she has a very delicate palate and doesn’t like the chicken flavor. This afternoon I watched your video wondering if I’m “boiling chicken wrong”. Yup, I am! I tried this out tonight, asked my wife to taste the results, told her I’d tried a different method… she had two bowls! Bam! You Ms. Eileen, are amazing!!! Thank you!!!
Lol! This made me laugh😄I'm SO glad this method worked for you. It's literally a game changer when it comes to soups, dips, salads or casseroles. You are so welcome!😊
It’s been 2 years and I’m still referring back to your video every time I need to make shredded chicken 😊 so simple but the small details are important for juicy chicken!
Me too
Yessssss!!!! Finally someone who knows how to boil chicken. This is my favorite for when I don’t feel good. I throw a lil garlic and pepper in mine. That soft chicken and some plain rice with a little of the broth will cure any sickness.
That is such a great idea!! I must try that out next time. Thanks!❤️
@@maplejubilee no thank you! You’re so nice I hope your channel grows well. ❤️
I've been eating rubbery chicken for 4 years u're telling me it could be this soft!
Jokes aside it came exactly like yours thanks a ton
Sweet! I felt the exact same way when I finally got it right lol.
15-20 min will do no need to cook it for 1h
something so simple yet something i needed help with. grateful for simple videos like this that mean a lot to people like me
Samantha Aparicio VLOG &Reviews - you’re so welcome! I love simple videos too!😊
Right!
I saw you tubers they all these things to it lol I don’t have time for that so thank you for an easy way to boil chicken
Haha same
Agreed
Hey friends! I'm so glad this video is helpful for you. I've received a few questions on my stove settings so I figured I would answer it for you here! The front burners on my stove are "double-burners." This means one burner functions as 2 and has 2 different setting sides - one side for small pots and one for large pots. Around 1:52 seconds into the video it looks like I turn my temperature to the number 6-medium, but its actually the number 2 - one spot above the low temperature. I hope this helps!😊 You can read the FULL Instructions here: marshaeileen.com/how-to-boil-chicken-breast/
If your chicken breast is completly frozen does that change anything?
Good work love from india
@@magnumpi28 I have not tried to use this method with completely frozen chicken breast. I always thaw mine out at least 50% or all the way first. If frozen I will thaw it in cool water in the sink. Surprisingly chicken thaws our pretty fast.
@Legend of Awww Sheeet Sure! That would be even better.
@@sunnysufuji5895 Thank you!!😊
thank you Maple. I have a cheap recipe i use this for.. since everything so expensive. You do the chicken like you did, get some canned corn and beans and some salsa. Pour the corn and beans into a baking pan, put the shredded chicken on top, and top with salsa. Bake at 350 for like 15 min. Then top with cheese. super cheap, tasty and easy. Its like a santa fe taco bowl. can put it in tortillas or just eat it normal. I like to add some taco seasoning into the corn and beans. This method worked great for me thank you!
Bring to the boil.
Simmer 4 one hour. 👍
Thanks for that... Straight to the point... Even I can do this. 🤔
No problem😊
One hour seems like a long time ... I'll try it
@@manuelesparza1081 if it's a big piece of chicken that is the right amount of time. Maybe for smaller pieces a shorter time.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. Yesterday, I boiled a chicken breast and it was rubbery and hard, now I'm boiling as you explained in the video, I hope it turns out well.
Edit: I boiled the chicken breast as you did in the video and it turned our really well!! So *thank you* sooo much😍😍😍😍
Yay! You're welcome!
I just used this method and my chicken came out perfect! I am making this for tamales. Of course I used some other seasonings but this method made me feel like I knew what I was doing for the chicken part. And of course such a “basic recipe” is the foundation for so much of whatever else I may want to explore!
Yes! Yes! Yes! So glad you tried it out. It really is a great foundation for several recipes. I love this method now.
I am also here because Im about to make tamales:)
She’s right. Best shredded chicken ever. Ive used this video for years!
Thanks for just getting straight to the point and being pleasant on the eye and ear. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
No problem!😊
For seasoning recommend adding an onion cutted in 2 or 4 pieces pieces and 1 garlic clove.
I always left it in medium once it boiled but because the way my stove is it would keep boiling quickly. And my mom always told me to cook it for 1 hour so you can imagine how tough my chicken breast would be after that! I learned to turn down the heat after watching a few videos and now my life has changed!
Your video has helped me nurse my dog back to health . Doing this I got it mushy enough for her to digest and mix with her normal food to get down . Thank you so much . She loves it .
Aww I'm so glad to hear that❤️
My confidence in the kitchen just skyrocketed! Thank you so much Marsha 👍
Awesome! You are so welcome!😊
It worked!! I haven't made edible chicken breast in ages and this turned out perfectly!! I needed it for a casserole for a party last night and I was so happy I didn't have to apologize for rubber chicken in it. Thank you so much!!
Yay! I'm so glad it worked for you. This really is a game-changer!😊
She said turn the eye down lol. I have never heard a stove top knob called an eye before. Lol. I have wanted to know how to boil chicken and not have it rubbery at all. New subscriber here.
OMG...Now I feel so old! LOL!😂 Eye is another name for burner. Hilarious! Thanks for watching😊
Oh wow.. that's what my grandmother has always called it. The eye on the stove lol everyone is different.
That’s a southern term “eye”. I rarely use the word burner. Lol
@@TP-xy2ms I was just about so say it might be a southern thing because I was born in TN and live in MS and I’ve always called it the stover eye 😂
Me either, but I knew exactlywhat she meant when she said it. It does look like an eye.
I’ve baked and fried chicken since high school, but I’ve never attempted to boil and shred chicken. My man recently told me he wants enchiladas next, so imma start this in a minute. This is a helpful video; thank you Marsha!
I watched several videos on this subject and many were not very helpful....yours was by far the BEST! Thank you for clear and to the point instructions
You get great comments. Cooking is love on a plate. That boy that used your recipes to feed himself and his brother got a whole lotta love from you. God bless ya.
Thank you. I'm going on a boiled chicken and broccoli diet and I needed a simple way to prepare the chicken breasts.
Perfect!
Ommgg YOU ARE THE REAL MVP. I did this and best boiled chicken I've ever made. Total game changer!
Lol! YAY..I'm glad you liked it. Total game changer for me too!!!
I’m pretty much a caveman in the kitchen but this was easy enough for me to not screw up. Thank you
Lol! You're welcome!
This has truly helped me and thanks a lot!
I tried it for the first time and it gave amazing results! The chicken breasts were very juicy and tender. Loved them!
Good job Marsha on showing us how to boil chicken. My wife is at work and I've been giving the orders to prepare the children for a family member that's on a blan diet. Thanks
A rookie like me needed this. Thank you sooo much!!!! You've got yourself a new subscriber 🤗🙌
Lol! You're very welcome!😊
I watched this video at least 10 times. I keep forgetting it's so simple every time I come back. You'd think I'd just remember the VERY few steps lol Appreciate you.
Thank you so much! This was exactly what I was missing! Some of the silliest problems of mine seem to have the silliest solutions.
Lol. You're welcome!
Guys i can confirm this WORKS!
Tender, juicy chicken just as seen in the video. Thankyou so much for this video.❤
You're so very welcome!😊
I want to personally thank you for this video. I have recently been trying to learn basic cooking, and this has probably been one of the most helpful videos yet! Thank you once again!
You are so welcome!
Do you turn your stove on simmer is this low on my stove
My first vid and i feel like this nice lady will inspire me to cook, i like the simplicity and quickness to the point in the video. Thank you so much, as a guy and someone that had no parents i have no kitchen knowledge😂
I like how RUclips suggests this after I already my boiled chicken lol. Anyways I'm doing it this way next time
Lol!!!
Same!
Yep, starting with cold/room temp water makes a TON of sense...Can't believe I didn't realize the problem. Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks Marsha, I've been looking for a different way to cook chicken breast. I usually bake it or grill it, time for a change.
making my dad a Father’s Day meal and my mom is too busy to help, tysm for the help
Hi. Followed your directions perfectly . . . and the chicken breasts turned out amazing! thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience.
She’s so friendly. Love about boiling chicken. I didn’t know.
This Mexican made some bomb ass chicken tostadas !!! Good looking .
Lol!!! Nice!😉
No need to mention race friend, downvoted.
@@leonwalbreck325 bruh u trolling??
Thanks for the video. I love to do my chicken in the pressure cooker. I usually add 1 cup chicken stock, salt and pepper the chicken and pressure cook for 15 minutes. It comes out pull apart and I use it for soups and my favorite baked chimichangas.
Worked perfect even though I doubled the amount of chicken, added a little more water into a bigger pot and boiled for the same amount of time.
I cook chicken maybe once every couple of weeks or so and I always come back to this very video! The first time before this video my chicken was rubbery and it really turned me off to eating/cooking it. I found this video and now I love chicken again lol. Never have a made chicken so perfectly juicy and evenly cooked!
Yay! That's awesome! I'm so glad it was helpful for you!
Yes!! 👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you so much for this video! I wanted to make shredded chicken tacos tonight and now I can 😂❤
The link to your website just gave me all the answers I needed - literally. I was trying to figure out when to season, and if I could just use my instant pot instead. You are a blessing, I’m going to go watch the rest of your videos now!
Thank you SO MUCH! This was my first time ever boiling chicken and it turned out perfect thanks to you. Thank you!
Yay!! Awesome! So glad to hear it!😊
I am going to boil my chicken tomorrow. Some for a casserole and some for chicken salad. Thank you for your tip 😊
I tried it and it was so tender and juicy. Thank you for sharing this method.
You're so welcome!😊
Thank you! Im trying to do better for the kids and so i needed an easier way to do chicken. This looks like a good method
Been struggling with pan cooking my chicken cuz of the popping oil, but this looks like a nice easy alternative! Thank you!
You're welcome. I'll actually be sharing a pan chicken recipe soon😊
I made Tinga for the first time and although I loved the flavor I wasn’t too happy with the texture of the chicken. I found this tutorial and followed every step…. Omg it turned out PERFECT. Thank you so much!!!
I do something similar but I turn it off completely as soon as it starts to boil. Then let it stand covered for an hour. It even works with a whole chicken. I use a larger pot and more water, covering the chicken by several inches.
I used your way to boil chicken for my chicken tostadas &’ THEY CAME OUT AMAZING !! I’m 26 . Never was taught to cook and I cooked these for the first time and my man swallowed 3 😂❤ Subscribed
Perfect, I just needed to see someone else make their chicken cuz I was tripping on the white stuff left behind the rim xD
Bless your heart ❤️ thank you I know I’m cooking really late at night but this is taught me how to cook it properly since..... I live alone with a roommate.
wow this is so cool, im going to try this! I have failed many times to cook perfect chicken breast, it comes out dry and tastless. I havent tried boiling
So simple and straight to the point. I am going to use my chicken for a salad!! Thanks for this
Video starts at 1:12
Loved the viedo. No nonsense. Short and simple. Quick and to the point. Just how instructional videos are meant to be.
Haha! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much !
This “secret trick” WORKS! Thank you so much for sharing! So strange something so simple works so well. I don’t cook chicken any other way now! Thank you. God bless you! ❤🙏🏻💐
Thanks girl quarantine got me here!
Lol!
So , I tried this and the chicken came out perfectly tinder and juicy . It shredded like butter . Sooo worth the 60 minute cook time .
:o
Wow I was taught to always boil the water first. I keep getting rubbery chicken. Will try this 😋
YES! Try this method and let me know how it goes!
Thanks for the video. My mouth started to water and jaw tightened up at 3:00 because chicken looked good!
I just started boil ing chicken myself. I will try this. I also like to add a little cut tomato and onions in with the chicken.
Thanks again for the video.
Sounds great! You're very welcome!
Thank you, Marsha! Made some chewy boiled chicken last week, but tonight, I used your tips and it worked! So easy! Shredded some for soup and set some aside to use tomorrow. A good outcome in the kitchen is a big deal!
Again, I am here because i cant remember numbers for timing! I watch you every month at least once on how to do this right. I have chicken i need to freeze so im just doing this, mixing with bbq sauce, and freeze into bags.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Chicken came out perfect!
Mrs_ B52 - Yay! Glad to hear it!
Thank you, Marsha. I'm working in another state away from my beautiful wife and need to learn how to cook things for myself. The good thing is I will be able to come home and surprise her with a nice meal.
It's been at least 6 months since I found this video and always reference it when cooking chicken. I always forget how long to simmer. Simple and effective. Making gringo chicken Mexican pizza and BBQ sammiches right now!
Thank you so much!! :)
Marsha you are a jewel. This way of boiling chicken is fantastic! I was lost with boiling chicken. Now thanks to you, I got tender and delicious chicken. I will use it for soup, salad and casserole. ❤
You are so welcome!😊
Marsha, just using your technique for the second time and I know it's going to work just as perfect as the first time. Thanks for the yum yums! 😺
Yay! You are so welcome!😊
First time in my life boiling chicken after seeing your video! I usually just cook it on skillet with oil. (yes, gets kind of hard too).
The chicken I boiled came out perfect. Going to make flautas -
Thank You!
Great job! Would like to add a different way that you won’t regret! Add half an onion, 1 garlic head, and 1 bay leaf + the salt. It will give an amazing flavor to the chicken!
Thank you! I was meal prepping for some shredded chicken taco salads for my lunches...I had a whole bunch of things planned that evening...little did I know that shredding tough chicken breast would take so long. Didn't get a single other thing done and swore I would never make shredded chicken again because it was such a pain. I'm excited to try it again with your tips, because the salads were definitely delicious and I saved so much money that week!
Gotcha, wow I didn't know that and I had actually planned to boil some tonight for chicken and dumplings😁⭐
Perfect timing!
As someone who lives in an apartment and can't grill, this video was amazing. Thank you!
Thank you so much sweetie, making green enchiladas and had no idea how long to boil my breasts and I would have made the mistake of boiling them too hard and too long if you hadn't shared this great information. Take care and God bless 😊

I just want to thank you, this was so easy to understand and helped a starving college student make actually good food tonight. ❤
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
No problem!😊
Hi Marsha, thanks for this video. I have a question. Once I turn down the heat to low and let it slow boil for an hour. Do I put the lid back on the pot for that hour or do I leave it uncovered?
I put my lid back on but I crack the lid a little bit so steam can escape.
You may not see this. But every video is simple good instructions. Love to see it
Do you leave "Lid" On or Off when you have on low and slow for the hour? 🤔 . Thank You.
I leave mine one but slightly cracked
I keep coming back to this video and now I'm passing it on to my friends. Super Useful, Thank You!
Thank you too for sharing it😊
Enjoyed your video and how you explained everything I needed to know. Thank you
You are so welcome!
Thank you SO much!! I only had thinly sliced chicken breasts available to use so this information was critical. Came out perfect in my chicken soup! I also like how you speak clearly, are direct and to the point, easy to follow, and do NOT yak on and on like some other RUclips chefs. I can tell which people have to cook everyday and have people waiting for them and which ones don’t based on how much they talk. Lol 😂
Dude, one hour sounds like waaaaay too much, but your chicken looks so nice! Gonna try it for our chimmichangas now, thanks! :)
Thank you for posting this video! I made buffalo chicken sliders using Hawaiian rolls and your video helped when I couldn't find rotisserie chicken at the market.
You're welcome. And that sounds delicious!!!
Thank you, this was very helpful 👍
You're very welcome. Glad it helped!
Thank you lovely lady. Was looking for how long to boil chicken. Your video taught me so much more. Thank you!
You are so welcome!!!😊
Thanks, my issues was it becoming rubber meat 😂😂
Lol!!! That was my issue too! You wont have to worry about that anymore sis if you do it this way. But you literally have to watch it come to a boil because as SOON as it does that's when you want to turn it down to low. One time I wasnt paying attention and must have been 5 min too late and my meat came out rubbery again lol. The next time I paid attention and it was perfect!
@@maplejubilee For how long should I let it cook if the breast is cut into small pieces?

LOL!!! Thanks!
I know this video is old and I've watched it more then once then I should. I tend to forget a lot.. but this has been helpful throughout and every time. Thank you so much for this video
Thanks so much for sharing this. Made chicken pot pie today and cooked the chicken this way and it's just as you said, very tender. 😊
I’ve been doing it this way for two years now! Perfect every time!❤❤❤❤Thank you❤❤❤

Hi there! Can I use this method if my meat is still a little frozen? I forgot to thaw my chicken as of yesterday so this morning I left it out on a plate for a few hours and want to boil it now. Do you think one hour will still be ok to cook it?
I have the same question!
Hi there! I actually have not tried this method with frozen chicken. I will say that I thaw my chicken all the time in the sink with cold water and it thaws out really quick.
