Summary: - Stretch body parts (like feathering the ab muscles, when landing/jumping) - build in anticipation, before an unexpected action (like camera focus for a few sec., or slide towards attention-area, or even wait a few sec./slowly begin action ---> speed up [slow motion, if otherwise unlogical] can be broken, if needed/fits) -> Next: momentum, personality, impact
Thank you for making this! I've learned about Squash and Stretch before but I don't think I've ever seen someone apply it to brickfilms. I always assumed Lego parts were too rigid for this to be applicable, but clearly there are some clever ways to make it happen.
While the principles of animation are not a new concept to me, I found it very interesting to see how you were able to apply squash and stretch to a minifigure! Keep up the great work, I always look forward to the next installment! :D
Your stop motions make your Legos look like they're alive!! That's what I am try to get with my doll stop motions but still a fail. Great tips! Thanks!
Heard about you in a Brickology vid and came to check you out. It is so helpful to hear these principles and then have them clearly explained. I can't wait to watch the whole series and try to apply the lessons to my stop motion. New subscriber! Thumbs up! Frutz wuz here.
I really like this animation guide. I learned a lot. My only criticism is that the flip thing would be easier to explain if the character was side ways to the camera. Great video though😛😉
I noticed in your description that you use blender to help you animate. Can you make a video on how you use it? I have blender but never got around how I could use it.
Really good tips but it would make more sense if the anticipation in this video was called staging and there was a separate tip about only anticipation
awesome tutorial! i love this series! i just hit 50 subscribers on my channel, and your videos have definitely helped me reach that point! thanks for the tips!:)
Thnx for these, very helpfull. im just started with stop motion so alot to learn. Have a look at me trying out brickmotion, feedback would be appreciated!
They are soo good. Wish they would be longer

Wow you’re the best lego animator I know

Looks like he’s gonna do a backflip
yeah that flip looked kinda strange
I was animating my Spider-man last time and I did the same thing but on purpose because I thought it would be funny
Another amazing tutorial, keep up the good work :-)
Thanks
Glad to see someone in the Brickfilm community teaching Animators about the 12 Principles of Animation that apply to LEGO :)
Man this is really great stuff!!
Pure freaking gold. I'm a very seasoned animator, but I learned so much from this.
The flip is great
Very good summary and tricks. Especially the stretch idea.

Not just another simple ease in ease out tutorial. Thanks, I learnt a lot 😊

Can't wait for part 2.

The thing is, these little details make your footage look professional
Thank you for putting in Kubo my aunt Danny helped with the faces
Great video! Even for someone who’s been doing animation for around 6-7 years this is pretty helpful!
Nice tutorial, keep up the good work!
Your stop motions make your Legos look like they're alive!!

Thanks for tips
I noticed in your description that you use blender to help you animate. Can you make a video on how you use it? I have blender but never got around how I could use it.
I have that planned for future episodes of the Ultimate LEGO Animation Guide 🙂
What type of wire is that @1:09 and what adhesive do you use
Hah, that’s a paper clip and sticky tack from staples.
@@bblanimation Thank you! Also, what holds the clip firmly in place? Is it some type of kinetic armature?
@@IIIStageProductions You can also use aluminium wire, it's easier to shape than paper clips. Usually you can hold it in place with some plasticine
Nice video
Very helpful
How do u move the character as well as the string holding the flip character during one shot, or is there something holding the string?
Nice!
Really good tips but it would make more sense if the anticipation in this video was called staging and there was a separate tip about only anticipation
Wow, amazing job
What would you suggest for snow, white modelling clay or baking soda?
I’ve never tried either! I would assume modeling clay would be much easier to work with though.
Bricks Brought to Life ok I’ll do that then thanks....
What do you use to make Hawkeye jump?
I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you asking about software, or something else?
@@bblanimation no I mean, what was the object you used to hold him in place?
@@spinjitzumasterfalcon Ah, that's actually a bent paperclip!
@@bblanimation You just saved me a while lot of money
So many great Brickfilmers are here :D
Keep up the good work but how many FPS do you use
12, 15, or 24 depending on the project. These shots were animated at 24 fps
Bricks Brought to Life thanks I do 15-18
appreciate the reference to fancy pants
Yeah i really need this vid thx
I only watch this because I have a animation Chanel and I need to impress my peps
What camera is this?
U need more subs
this helps me
What editing software do you use
so uhh.. will this help with sharpeners?
Woah this is REALLY good and super helpful. I do animation on my channel

Toy name please
YOU DONT KNOW LEGO?? 😆😆
I Gave It A Like! And First!
Thnx for these, very helpfull. im just started with stop motion so alot to learn. Have a look at me trying out brickmotion, feedback would be appreciated!
The dislikes are from playmobil brickfilmers
It’s not anticipation it’s staging I think
Or Focus-control, it depends how you specificall call it.
hmm i dont think so
I have to pay to draw or cut things out. That app makes you pay for everything. Why dont they just make you pay for the game
N
Ehh I don’t care about the gravity I just want my to be at least decent
Your flip is kind of weird
i hate it
