Larionov, Konstantinov, Fetisov, Federov, Koslov, God these guys were awsome i miss watching the russian 5 play and i miss yserman and god PROBERT he was a terror on the ice
Kronner's patented hit is thrilling and clever, but Vlady's overall play was much more aggressive and mean. Someone gets "Kronwalled" every once and a while, but Konstantinov dished out a hard hit every couple of shifts. That being said, I think both are equally awesome hitters.
sports always has a lot of "what ifs". but the vladdy accident is the worst. no telling how many cups the wings would've won. nor what a career he would have had. no, he won't be forgotten.
fedorov never looked more handsome on the ice than when he was wearing a red wings jersey. and i'm not even a wings fan :s i wish they'd pick him up for one last stint.
I agree -- one of the great what-ifs of hockey, wondering how many Norris Trophies he would have won by now. Either that, or he could have easily become an actor to play a villain in a James Bond movie...
i know its not really fair because hes only around 40 and probably still can play hockey if he has not been in that car accident. Same with Pavel Bure too his career been cut short due to injuries.
did you heard about the swedish five I do believe that Vancouver had sundin to play with the 2 sedin's that made 3 and then Matias ohlund and edler on the point.
@ApachePiL0T Detroit will always love Vladdie!! I named my cat after him and he's a BEAST, just like his namesake, lol! I loooooooooove the "RUSSIAN 5", baby!!
it was not actually soviet union you know they said this was in the 95 when the Russian five was complete. The soviet union fell in 1991 so its more correct to call them Russia.
washington caps need one more russian to complete another russian 5 they have so far ovechkin, semin, fedorov, kozlov just need one more then that will do the trick.
@PHDLUV8 This guy has no idea what the hell he is talking about. I'm Russian and I don't feel disdain or consider them traitors. As a matter of fact, I don't know ANYONE in Russia who considers them traitors. They are people, who saw an upportunity to earn more by playing abroad. PERIOD. They didn't sell out government secrets. They are hockey players and they chose what would allow them to realise their potential. And they fucking did just that. (P.S. traitors don't play for the national team.
Frolov, Radulov and prob soon Kutznetsov?..u had Ragulin, zelepukin, nikolishin, Lomakin and Semak back in the days..but yeah "ovs" was more popular before i guess xD?
Despite all Russians can play hockey very good Even at these days Russian Team is good Not Red Mashine anymore, but of course Russians hockey players one of the best
@USMCRedneck71 funny how modern Russian stars aren't ''ovs"... Malkin, Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Semin.... ins and uks... ok, YakupOV will be next probably
Love fedorov and all the russian 5 back in the day but when he left to go to anaheim for less money he turned his back on detroit. He couldn't handle being second banana to stevie y
best line-up in hockey history,ever!
I love the Russian five, they were my favorites when they played for the Red Wings back in the day... thanks for posting this!
Larionov, Konstantinov, Fetisov, Federov, Koslov, God these guys were awsome i miss watching the russian 5 play and i miss yserman and god PROBERT he was a terror on the ice
The best Hockey line of all time hands down!
Love these guys! Miss them in the Red Wings!
The CCCP were the best.. No questions asked.
Oooh, seing this makes me miss them guys like hell. There will never again be players like this in the NHL. You couldn't ask for more.
One of the great one's!!! Love, love this team!!!
ohhhhh, this is so frikkin awesomeov !!! I miss these days
Most dominant Five in NHL history....
I watch them via satellite in mid 90s....
Greetings from Serbia to all RED WINGS fans in USA......
MY GUYS!!!! I miss them.....
Makes me miss the Russian Five. I miss Detroit hockey.
Yes, thank you for posting this! The Russian Five were my favorites!
Greatest line in NHL history!
Hard to name a five man unit any better.
NHL on Fox!!! Great show. They should bring it back!
This hockey line was my first real love ever being a 13 year old kid.
Vladimir is still and always will be my hero
Every faceoff was "I must break you." or "You will lose."
Константинов настоящее лицо Русского Богатря.
Konstantinov...one of the greatest hitters in NHL history. such a shame.
Kronner's patented hit is thrilling and clever, but Vlady's overall play was much more aggressive and mean. Someone gets "Kronwalled" every once and a while, but Konstantinov dished out a hard hit every couple of shifts. That being said, I think both are equally awesome hitters.

I don't hold any ill will towards Sergei, he was one of the reasons the Wings went from pure shit to contenders.
Add in the Grind Line, and the late '90s Red Wings were an awesome team. Coached by Scotty? Not fair at all.... ;-)
I agree -- one of the great what-ifs of hockey, wondering how many Norris Trophies he would have won by now. Either that, or he could have easily become an actor to play a villain in a James Bond movie...
Vladimir would be at the top of plus minus goals year after year playing penalty kill all season that's mind blowing great
they were the shit!!! It was amazing skill and finesse to behold.
fedorov was a stud even in the nineties.
To see Igor larionov with the goatee
i know its not really fair because hes only around 40 and probably still can play hockey if he has not been in that car accident. Same with Pavel Bure too his career been cut short due to injuries.
vladdy :(
No sad. he's still alive and my hero
lol all end with nov or rov. Its awesome. My last name ends with kov, so I am in the group! hehe. Russian pride.
ahh the days before detroit turned on Sergei. those were good.
Now we just need Ovechkin haha
Vlady was the dennis rodman of the Russian five
There will only be one "Russian 5"
Look at the Professor. Does he look like the Instigator of March 26?
did you heard about the swedish five I do believe that Vancouver had sundin to play with the 2 sedin's that made 3 and then Matias ohlund and edler on the point.
@ApachePiL0T Detroit will always love Vladdie!! I named my cat after him and he's a BEAST, just like his namesake, lol! I loooooooooove the "RUSSIAN 5", baby!!
now he's superhot)))
why did they not talk about the most famous Russian that's been playing for years and years Faceov
there's definitely a Russian mafia henchman role there for him.
SUPER 5
My last name's Fedorov :)
it was not actually soviet union you know they said this was in the 95 when the Russian five was complete. The soviet union fell in 1991 so its more correct to call them Russia.
the NHL has really fallen off the map!
Frederov left to the ducks because he felt like he deserved to play on the top line, which he should have
its spelled Kharlamov the k is silent like in Khabibulin
Да уж хоккей сильно изменился. Смотришь пешком ходят.
@2tuque2 What again was the name of the guy who scored the most goals in the last 5 seasons? And the second most?
Better Hitter: Kronwall or Konstantinov?
yeah...responcibility
were they they 1st or the 2nd line?
washington caps need one more russian to complete another russian 5 they have so far ovechkin, semin, fedorov, kozlov just need one more then that will do the trick.
@ApachePiL0T How can anyone forget the player who layed out Lemieux and Forsberg!
@PHDLUV8 This guy has no idea what the hell he is talking about. I'm Russian and I don't feel disdain or consider them traitors. @Floskeknosk Same here!!
How do you mean?
Puck possession at its finest.
yeah he did. wouldn't you if some of your best friends almost died and the fans BOOed you when you were on their team???
@USMCRedneck71 funny how modern Russian stars aren't ''ovs"... Malkin, Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Semin.... ins and uks... ok, YakupOV will be next probably

They’re so bad at english. I love it. 😂😂😂
@Xramovnuk STILL the best??!! Never were and STILL arent
На Русском языке надо говорить
nope, fetisov with his goverment job and his dubious decisions is not particulary loved here. he's not as hated as Tretiak though.
