The Vladdy chants were so great. Konstantinov is such a tragic story to me, and I have so much love and respect for how Detroit and the Red Wings have honored the man since the accident that paralyzed him.
I started crying when dani probert came out . Love you probie. I wish u we're still here with us today , u were a beast of fighting and never backing down to anyone !!!!! Ur a Canadian legend that will never be forgotten !!!!!
The closest I’ve been to LCA is Eminems mom’s spaghetti and it’s literally a 3-5 minute walk down the street and i didn’t bother going down there, they were playing when i went too, and he’s smart as hell for putting it where it is, you can park behind MS and walk and grab a sandwich on the way to LCA and its all easy to find. I remember one wrong turn in the way to the joe and you would end up on the road to the Ambassador Bridge tk Canada or youd have to pull into COBO. At the very least it’s less confusing now.
When i think of the 90's one of the first things i think of is Detroit hockey. Such a prominent force in the NHL for so long, the gold standard and what you hoped your team could become. Truly a great barn and a great franchise
I was 11 years old when the Wings swept the Capitals. When Vlad took the ice to share the cup with his teamates i cried! I was 100pct positive that the red wings would take care of Vladdy for life. Vlad was a winner, a defenseman, one who faught for the city of detroit as a Red Wing, and the Red Wing franchise MUST take care of him!!!
I'm a SHARKS fan so I'm not exactly best friends with Detroit. That being said I have a HUGE amount of respect for all of these greats, and I'm really glad to see Konstantinov in here, he is my favorite Red Wing.
As a long time season ticket holder of an organization that has a small fan base, I have learned to appreciate and respect the Red Wings fan base. Such a great atmosphere at the Joe. Even little things such as singing Sweet Caroline or Journey. It's pretty cool to see. Excluding the lockout season, this is the first year in my lifetime in which both the Devils and Redwings did not make the playoffs. Sad to see.
pretty tough year for both teams. I live in California and have been a Wings fan since 79 and I actually got to go too 2 games this year at the Joe and it was absolutely amazing!!
Well said! 3rd generation Habs fan here! I somewhat remember the Forum closing and I didn’t think a building would affect me again but man saying goodbye to the Joe with so many great games played there, so many incredible names to go thru there! Just crazy! Unfortunately we will be seeing more of our beloved buldings being shut down!
The building was named after him. He already had his tribute. This was ceremony honoring the Redwing's greats who the building was created for. Jane Bradley Pettit paid for the Bradley Center in Milwaukee to built and she got little to no tribute when it was demolished.
Understandably absent: The rest of the Russian Five (KHL duties) Datsyuk (see above) Shanny (being on the Leafs' upper staff) Babcock (see above) Draper (his son was in a tourney at the same time so all good) Coffey (because eff Coffey after that '96 exit. Just kidding) Dionne (they'd still boo his ass off the ice) Hanlon (think he's with the Vancouver Giants' staff) Reed Larson (justifiably at ends with the League over concussion awareness) Hasek (European, if not KHL duties) Filppula, Hudler, several others post-2009 (active elsewhere) Lochead (busy as a scout in Europe, from what I read) Lang (because LMAO why?) several of the 2002 Dream Team (Interestingly) missing: Shawn Burr's wife and/or kids Jacques Demers Petr Klima Nedomansky Rafalski Brad Stuart Gare Oates Sillinger Drake Primeau
I wish I got to see a game at the Joe. Never could afford it. But, for sure, I will be seeing plenty of games at the new arena. I'm so proud of my Wings and to be apart of the greatness that is Hockeytown.
I watched them build Joe Louis Arena from the ground up I seen a lot of good hockey games in it a lot of Stanley Cup a whole lot of concerts short doumit Joe Louis Arena
Nope, that;s what you interpreted it as. "They even had the music", implies that out of the many songs, they included at least one song that was in the movie.
There's always a touch of the bittersweet when old arenas and stadiums host their last pro games. Hopefully the Joe will be used by minor leagues, other sports teams or commercial enterprises, much like Maple Leaf Gardens is today. I hate seeing these legendary buildings get torn down like the Boston Garden for example.
I don't understand why they have to demolish it and share and arena with the pistons why can't they just renovate the joe it would be way cheaper then building a new one
The bigger shame was getting rid of the house Isaiah built, the Palace. That place was state of the art compared to the Joe and had just had a multimillion dollar renovation to the restaurants. Now it's a big hole in the ground!
Im not Redwings fan. Im a Bruins fan. I remember when the garden went through that awkward period where it was known as the fleet center. I only hope and wish for you Redwings fans that the new arena is bought and the name changed to something other than the "Little Ceasars Arena"
tonelow5 woe woe woe tonelow5 I dont want any trouble 😂😂😂 ill make sure to tell Chara that tonelow5 told me Detroit's going to destroy us with there big prospects they just drafted 😂😂😂
Why invite Bertuzzi to anything ever again? You don't invite someone with *ZERO* class to a classy function. I'm sorry, this choice was disgusting, Red Wings.

Yeah his wife bailed on him
I'm glad Vladdy got such a huge reception, dude was a beast.
teared up TBH
I started crying when dani probert came out . Love you probie. I wish u we're still here with us today , u were a beast of fighting and never backing down to anyone !!!!! Ur a Canadian legend that will never be forgotten !!!!!
Don't expect to come here without leaving with tears.
Vladdy...Vladdy...Vladdy... I was crying
watch this at least twice a year and every time it brings a tear to my eye, god i miss THE JOE,
The closest I’ve been to LCA is Eminems mom’s spaghetti and it’s literally a 3-5 minute walk down the street and i didn’t bother going down there, they were playing when i went too, and he’s smart as hell for putting it where it is, you can park behind MS and walk and grab a sandwich on the way to LCA and its all easy to find. Jus watched the russian 5 movie and i gotta tell ya i cried.
When i think of the 90's one of the first things i think of is Detroit hockey. Such a prominent force in the NHL for so long, the gold standard and what you hoped your team could become. Truly a great barn and a great franchise
I remember going when I was little..Farewell joe Louis..we all miss you! Thank you for the best memory

The Vadinator.......one of the NHL'S best body checkers in history and was cut down in his prime just imagine if he wasn't.
Владимир Константинов вам уважение
Kontintinov was rave in the accident hes THE BEST OF THE BEST
Redwings were never the same after that.
Kinda weird no mention of the man the arena was named after. You know, one of the greatest heroes in American History...
The building was named after him. He already had his tribute. This was ceremony honoring the Redwing's greats who the building was created for. Jane Bradley Pettit paid for the Bradley Center in Milwaukee to built and she got little to no tribute when it was demolished.

Lochead (busy as a scout in Europe, from what I read)
Lang (because LMAO why?)
several of the 2002 Dream Team
(Interestingly) missing:
Shawn Burr's wife and/or kids
Jacques Demers
Petr Klima
Nedomansky
Rafalski
Brad Stuart
Gare
Oates
Sillinger
Drake
Primeau
Why not Modano or Derian Hatcher as well. Granted they were injured most the time but homegrown kids.
I love how if the player can't be there it's a family member, Illitch family has class.
I almost cried during this
NEXT YEAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN 43 YEARS
Kinda surprised that Hasek wasn't there, he won two cups with the Wings.
Tai Korczak same and Lidstrom wasn't there also
Lidstrom was there lol Hasek was in Czech Republic couldn't come

Wonder how long Gallant's cab ride to the Joe was.
GO WINGS
Wish I could of made it many blood sweat and tears.
Sayin goodbye to the Joe felt like saying goodbye to your oldest and closest friend
I saw Micky Redmond at a Spartans vs Detroit aluminum.
the lack of Pavel love was annoying
Where's pavel datsyuk
In SKA St. Petersburg
I wish I got to see a game at the Joe. Never could afford it. But, for sure, I will be seeing plenty of games at the new arena. I'm so proud of my Wings and to be apart of the greatness that is Hockeytown.
СПАСИБО
I cannot wait to feel proud of detroit sports again...
im a flyers fan, not a red wings fan, but where is steve yeizermen, correct me if i spelled his name wrong. i probably did.
where is lidstrom
Lidstrom, Federov. Kozlov, konstantinov, Drapper, R5, Chelios..hull, luc.. ............. (Im outta the) .....
A bit dissapointed that number 19 Steve Yzerman wasn't mentioned
number 91..
I'm guessing that's Jeff Daniels narration at the beginning, greatest Michigan ambassador in Hollywood!
I don't understand how building a new arena is cheaper than maintenance. ...
I watched them build Joe Louis Arena from the ground up I seen a lot of good hockey games in it a lot of Stanley Cup a whole lot of concerts short doumit Joe Louis Arena
I miss the old smokey look inside the Joe, I'm assuming it was the old school lighting. It just gave the games more power and emotion.
WTF? What about Shawn Burr??
How could they not include Howe at the 1980 all-star game???
Ha, They even had the music from "The good, the bad, and the ugly".
wrong
It starts at 2:22. Its called "The Ecstasy of Gold".
well you said the music which means all the music not that one song
Nope, that;s what you interpreted it as. "They even had the music", implies that out of the many songs, they included at least one song that was in the movie.
It's "you're", and by looking at your profile, Its no wonder you don't know basic English, you haven't even passed the 8th grade.
The cameraman in the thumbnail is wearing Avalanche colors
There's always a touch of the bittersweet when old arenas and stadiums host their last pro games. JLA is getting demolished before the new season even starts.
SuperStrik9 also like Mellon Arena
Yz, Fedorov, lidstrom, Osgood.
Не это я ожидал увидеть!))
Why didn't Yzerman come?
he came he was like the last one introduced and he had a great speech watch part 2, 3, 4, 5 lol
First it was not participating in the Winter Olympics now it's saying bye to the Joe
Weres datsyuk
it isnt the first or the last time we'll hear about the joe
I don't understand why they have to demolish it and share and arena with the pistons why can't they just renovate the joe it would be way cheaper then building a new one
Rose Gold Vans wait there demolishing this arena?!
William Rowley no they haven’t yet, I live near Detroit and they have kept it up still. Now it’s a big eyesore with no one going in or out
The bigger shame was getting rid of the house Isaiah built, the Palace. That place was state of the art compared to the Joe and had just had a multimillion dollar renovation to the restaurants. Now it's a big hole in the ground!
Farewell JLA, Welcome LCA!! How about a few cups at the Pizzarena? LGRW
number 9 Gordie Howe
No Claude Lemiox ?
Just was there to say one last goodbye 😭😭😭😭😭
Im not Redwings fan. Im a Bruins fan. I remember when the garden went through that awkward period where it was known as the fleet center. I only hope and wish for you Redwings fans that the new arena is bought and the name changed to something other than the "Little Ceasars Arena"
tonelow5 woe woe woe tonelow5 I dont want any trouble 😂😂😂 ill make sure to tell Chara that tonelow5 told me Detroit's going to destroy us with there big prospects they just drafted 😂😂😂
Jake Iacono
:)
Joe Louis.
They'll never win a Cup in that pizza box!!! Should have never left the Joe. Let the Joe Louis curse begin.
Fucking Dandenault cost us the Cup. I got mad all over again just seeing him in our jersey again >(
Hockey Town 😂 there’s only one rink in a hundred mile radius 😂 more like Violence Town.
Did they actually even mention Joe Louis in this tribute? The damn arena was named after him, not these nobodies. The disrespect.
Minnesota is the hockey state
The Redwing's need the Hansen brothers or some more skilled facsimile..lol just more aggressive guys with skill.
Disgusting....going from Joe Louis Arena to "Little Caesars" Arena, that is awful
Does anyone think how bad it must be to have your new rink named after one of the shittiest pizza groups in the nation
illitch owns the red wings, but he also owns Little Caesars and the Tigers. tbh i want Papa John's but idc, as long as it is pizza.
puckstar 34 the only other arena with an NHL team that isnt corporately named is madison square garden.
+27 Savage maybe gila river arena too
Not really when the Ilitch's own the Wings and LC. Make a name for yourself and come up with 180 mil so you can name it
puckstar 34
Give it a year or two the building will be named after Mike Illitch
Why invite Bertuzzi to anything ever again? You don't invite someone with *ZERO* class to a classy function. I'm sorry, this choice was disgusting, Red Wings.
Judgemental piece of shit!Keep throwing stones from that glass house!
macarty shows up drunk and on pot lol
wtf are you talking about.
oh just commenting on macarty showing up drunk and being high on pot
Jordan Schlansky and they spelled McCarty wrong ........lol
jennycraig99 macarty? Least pens fans spell their legends names right lol
Must be a Crapalanche fan. You can't spell worth crap.
Im not Redwings fan. Im a Bruins fan. I remember when the garden went through that awkward period where it was known as the fleet center. I only hope and wish for you Redwings fans that the new arena is bought and the name changed to something other than the "Little Ceasars Arena"
not going top happen since Ilitch owns the team and owns little ceasars
+Jedi Master Joe ahhhh makes sense now
I hate the name of the arena too
