Awesome that you guys can overcome a problem like that and still keep high spirits, that would have ruined most people’s trip. Lucky there was not to much damage on the stub axle. If we could get some more rap songs from ellen that would be good 😂🤠. Another great episode guys

I finished my own Madigan adventure back in October and followed the same route you did. It’s been great to revisit the sights and scenery you’ve captured on film so well. Fortunately, I had contacted Judy at Adria Downs who informed me of the closure so I didn’t get the unexpected “road closed” bummer. Of course it was disappointing but now I have a reason to go back once Eyre Creek dries out a bit. Sharing your video as a great example of what crossing the Madigan was like. Looking forward to next week’s video. Cheers!

Stunning photography and dronography, it really does feel like I’m there also, great example of what can happen in the outback, 500ks of dirt, corrugates and sandhills from help/parts/alcohol, a 1000ks of bitumen is a big enough effort. I think in the last bit you’re all just getting into the spirit.

Road closed was a bit of a downer.
Curious, if you got confirmation it was an open route why didn't you go ahead with planned route.
My thinking in same scenario would be,
"Sign put up when track was actually flooded, authorities declare route open, Ranger just hasn't got round to physically driving out to remove sign yet".
    Yes I know it's a hard one.
My experience, wanted to traverse a track out S.A. once.
    Goes into Ceduna Police Stn.
Officer couldn't answer as didn't know track I was enquiring about so disappeared & returns with an indigenous officer familiar with track, traversed it in last three weeks, it's open, no permit required, just go there, yeah, great news.
Onroute I meet a chap, had a brief catch up, he's going west, I'm going north. Advise him of our intended route, nah, you can't go there, it's currently a closed route and also requires a permit. I explained what I'd done at Ceduna.
He says, well I'm telling you the opposite and I'll give you this legal advise.
I'm a Queens Councillor, and whilst you have been given authority by an indigenous police officer saying you can go there, if and thats "if" anything goes wrong you will be in trouble as I've advised you since you can't, shown you on a map it's a "closed route" and should you have to attend court over any incident occurring on route you'll be committing purguey saying you had a verbal right if passage, hmm. I says my maps also advised its closed, hence my reason for enquiring at Ceduna.
He says, you have to remember, no road is closed to a police officer, so she may well have traversed it not knowing you can't. It won't stand up in court. WTF.
Gives this a lot of thought, heads off on the track, sure enough 20k in sign says, road closed. To traverse road a Permit required.
Now I was prepared to continue on with the knowledge of our indigenous police officer whom specifically knew the track I enquired after, But travelling companions weren't comfortable proceding on closed road. Result, make camp, about turn next day on new route. Conflicting info.
Pain in the dairy air, ha!
