Here's Everything GREAT about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Trilogy! This is a compilation of my previous 3 reviews of the games and I thought it would be fun to have them all under one roof. Plus, Activision can go kick rocks for releasing MWIII 2023 charging full price for it, and treating it as an entire COD campaign with no original ideas. So instead of spending $70 on it and giving hollow false praise, we're gonna remember the glory days of COD together.

I wasn’t thinking when throwing in Sledgehammers name with the issues plaguing MWIII. It’s all completely Activision and we need to be aware of the greed and that exploitation that this publisher is doing to their developers.
Here’s a great article detailing the crunch surrounding MWIII by father Jason Schreier: www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-11-09/cod-modern-warfare-3-faces-bad-reviews-after-rushed-development?accessToken=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJzb3VyY2UiOiJTdWJzY3JpYmVyR2lmdGVkQXJ0aWNsZSIsImlhdCI6MTY5OTU2NzE0NiwiZXhwIjoxNzAwMTcxOTQ2LCJhcnRpY2xlSWQiOiJTM1ZNREJEV0xVNjgwMSIsImJjb25uZWN0SWQiOiJCMUVBQkI5NjQ2QUM0REZFQTJBRkI4MjI1MzgyQTJFQSJ9.o8ivreNZS0FxiM_Dv9FCJWLoOMGS5W3gpwj7eS1Cavw

Honestly…. Like I said in a separate comment, the multiplayer and Zombies justify the purchase for me. There were a lot of positive changes implemented that made it worth it for me. Even if you’re right about the campaign.
BTW yes, I realize that my purchase makes them think we’re okay with what they did to the campaign. And yes, I do hate myself for it.

Soap and the chest knife. Never before or since have i felt so immersed and connected to the game. Seeing Price lose the fight and wanting to help him. I thought "If only i had a weapon". As the camera slowly panned to the knife in my chest, it clicked. Full immersion in perfect syncronisity with soap. "I do have one". Pulling out that knife and using it to win the day, to save Price and avenge my team... No moment in a game has ever felt that good.

As someone who grew up playing these games, I gotta say that they all have a special place in my heart.
One of my favorite moments of MW3 especially is when Price calls Makarov after it's announced that the war was over. When Makarov picks up, he asks who's calling and Price says "Prisoner 627". That whole interaction leading to the card were they finally show "Taskforce 141" without the "Disavowed" was phenomenal. 👌

The fact that MW3 still has not been remastered hurts me, it's my first and favorite COD game with ease, It's definitely nostalgia bias because if it wasn't my first I know my favorites would be a struggle between BO2 and Cod 4, but, I don't really care, I don't care if it's mediocre and it was just a heavily updated version of MW2, it's still an amazing game that left an impact me, I didn't know a lot about cod besides the Zombies and the shooting, but when I played I cared so much about the characters as if I played the first 2 games, Soap's death always hit me, a hero that didn't manage to get out in the end, gone, but not forgotten.
MW3 cemented itself as one of the most important things of my life, especially since it reminds me of my Dad, and as much as I learned he wasn't really a great dad nowadays, especially since he's not with me anymore, admittedly leaving me and my family to go back to his own family, forgetting us, probably starting a new family he loves probably more than me, I can't deny he gave me one of the best experiences of my life, my first game, one of if not my favorite games of all time, a Cod game that is always regarded to be mediocre, but I hold too dear to my heart to say it is.
You can probably laugh at how sad it is that a son's only treasured love from his father was a game, my life isn't really too eventful in terms of excitement, most of the time it was kind of rough especially with my anger issues and ADHD growing up, gaming being one of the few things making me feel happy, and with how my life is now, I'm happy gaming has affected it, it helped me learn, get smarter with strategies, especially with a kid like me who was too angry half the time to learn at school, I didn't grow up to be some brute who didn't have a father figure, I became a person with quite a bit of flaws but didn't let the loss of 1 parental figure hinder my development.
Sorry for rambling, I tend to do that, but it just helps show how much the game made my life better and not put me down a rabbit hole that will probably make me a bad person in the future.

Something cool to point out during the “Soap Trusted you!” Scene. Price pulls out a Desert Eagle, a gun used multiple times throughout the Modern Warfare Trilogy to off important people or start sending sh!t fanwards.
The Middle Eastern President at the top of MW1, Zakyev doing the same to Gaz and Riggs at the end of it.
Many lesser people meet their end from its .50 AE fury in MW2
And of course, Makarov using it at the end of MW3.
It is used time and time again by the bad guys to do bad things. And in that moment, Price is borderline Makarov. He just lost his best friend after what he thought was a slam dunk mission goes tits up. The other person he thought he could trust is now suspect number one as to why Soap is gone. Price loved his 1911, a visual representation of the “old guard” type of military man he is. Part of that idealism died with Soap, and he left the 1911 behind not just as a grave stone for his friend, but a symbol that Price as we knew him died on that table as well.
Also, for as fat and destructive as .45 ACP is, .50 AE is bigger and hits harder. And that’s what Yuri finds himself starring down the barrel of. Not just a bigger gun than the 1911, but the much more angry and unhinged John Price.

MW1: All Ghillied up, best part is the atmosphere, you really felt like a trained sniper. And Mac’s voice is badass, let’s be honest.
MW2: The EMP over the battle of DC. Honestly, the whole battle was amazingly well done. If you listen closely on the comms, you really feel the direness of the situation, they said there were civilians arming themselves against the Russians. Best missions ever.
MW3: Battle of Paris. I might be alone with this one, but it is my favorite mission. You start by making your way through the destroyed buildings surrounded by the gas and the dead civilians caught in the zone. It was very haunting and depressing. You really felt the weight of the damage Makarov caused.

The dreams were so visceral that I remember constantly waking up covered in sweat and needing to wash my clothes and sheets (I was like 8 when I played this upon release). So Soap earned his name in OG Trilogy by “cleaning house” (clearing a house) with remarkable precision and speed. In the new trilogy he earned it because when price recruited him for TF141 he was a demo expert from SAS and earned his name by famously using soap bars as part of his detonation devices.

As someone who lives in the DC area, I can't stress how good a job MW2 did with its iteration of Northern Virginia and DC. I remember playing this game and the pre-brief with the emergency broadcast system actually freaked out my college roommate because he had only been half paying attention and suddenly thought there was an actual emergency broadcast about evacuating DC.

fun fact about the tutorial for both MW1 and 2: That's an actual thing used to prepare for an op or train for various scenarios. They're called Kill Houses.
"It is used to train soldiers and police for various urban combat scenarios while permitting them to use their full power service weapons. The scenarios trained for include room and apartment clearing, door breaching and the inclusion of hostage or noncombatant targets along with enemy targets ("shoot/no shoot")."

The Modern Warfare is the first series outside of Halo i played through start to finish.
MW2 was my first multiplayer experience back in Middle School.
This trilogy is just so great. I want to play it through again now just to experience it. The WW3 pre, during, and post through the trilogy is what i see a real-life event happening like. Its scary how close it could be, but seeing the action hero of Price and all of the amazing heroes in the fallen of the trilogy really harkens that real war, there are only survivors at the end.

    2 things i love about MW2
    1. Is the background radio chatter of other units in DC they tell diffrent stories for example
    - bradley unit wanting to engage a specific russia para unit for killing civvies
    - american units setting up ambush to snatch russian para troopers
    2. This EAS 33:14 when it says "be aware of your surroundings remain alert" basically saying "whoever is out there that isnt us is out to kill you and us so get out of here but watch out" and knowing your a civvie still in the city with thousands of russians out to kill you is pretty terrifiying

Bro left out one of the most impactful parts of the nuke scene
As that chopper turned and fell you legit had different thoughts running through your head as every rotation was completed and got you closer and closer to the ground, the alarms are non stop in the back, the engine struggling to keep up while the whining grows in pitch and volume just before
Silent darkness, just to wake up in the closest thing to hell humanity is capable of bringing to earth
Having just saved a downed pilot it's like your savior's, angel's, protector's etc wings evaporated and was left to fall down to hell
Edit: Dear lord you also didn't seem to include the cutscene right after that shows the explosion via satellite images and the estimated deaths are displayed as well as every single dead soldier caught up in the blast including their full names while in the background you can hear several news broadcasts trying to make sense of what just happened in the world in both confusion terror and disbelief

From start to finish, I LOVED this trilogy and it's hilarious how it took the DLC/MW2 sequel to bring us back to this.
For one thing, this was a great progression story. First game was about bringing in Price & Soap, while showing us what it was with Zakhaev and laying the groundwork for what would come in MW2. Then with Modern Warfare 2 we get a madman fueled by the fallout (both literal and figurative) of what we witnessed in the first. (Now you're wondering which madman I'm talking about, huh? That's the BEAUTY of this second game. We had two madmen at the center of the events here, with a maniac out to stop both.) My lone thing with the second game is, I don't THINK we ever got an explanation for how Price landed in that Gulag or maybe it was laced in the explanation of the very place they were set to break into. (This by the by is my favorite part of the game, cause it gives me my favorite gun in the game. The AA-12 or Semi Automatic Shottie. I was absolutely GIDDY when I saw this was accessible. I used it in the Gulag. Used it in 3 when the plane got hijacked.) Once Shepard plays his hand, MANN...
The third game in all seriousness, starts when Shepard plays his hand outside of that safehouse. I love how the safe house mission and actions of Shepard bleed directly into The Boneyard where it's more or less a bloody free for all with Makarov's crew, Shepard's hit squad and Price in the middle. Makarov tells Price 'one day, you'll learn that cuts both ways' when Price hits him with the 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' line and then in the finale, we find out Yuri knows Makarov when Soap is on his deathbed. To have the third game pick up IMMEDIATELY where we leave off in 2 with the chopper landing with Soap bleeding out, it's great. The joint mission where 141 teams with the Americans to rescue the President and effectively end the war, clearing Price to focus on ending his vendetta with Makarov was great.
From start to finish, I loved this. It told a great story and we had a great villain to end this thing with. I'm not a fan of the subdued Shepard we got and really, I'm not one of these old heads who is of the 'it was better in my day but in this instance...this version WAS BETTER. I refuse to play or even rent that MW3 they just spat out to a $50 plus price tag on PS4. Piss off with that crap. Thank you for this video, this was great.

Yo, I belive since Price was saved in MW by russian forces on that bridge he had to be medicaly treathed in Russia. After the Zakhayevs death there was outcry in russia to punish the responsible. Other soliders might have died on the way. Probably Makarov got involved and got to put Cpt. Price in the Gulag. Smart move since he understands who Price is to pull of what he did in MW. So any military action to get him out would resault in war as well! Only thing is WW3 was already underway when Gulag is attacked. That is why they freed him then, there was no oppening before. This is also why Soap didnt know who 627 actually was.
So there you go this is my logic behind it. I wish they would officialy explain it but that is it.

    • @sup3rdonk3
      @sup3rdonk3 6 месяцев назад

As a matter of fact, Price ending up in the Gulag was actually explained, but by way of a sort of official, Activision (or IW) endorsed fan movie of sorts, called Operation Kingpin. After the events of COD4, Price, Soap, Ghost, and Sandman all move in on this compound where Makarov was rumored to be I believe. He isn’t there, it ends up being an ambush if I remember correctly, and Soap is wounded. Price provides cover for the others to get to the evac chopper, and he ends up getting shot in the process, and the chopper has to leave because there’s a massive swarm of Russian soldiers incoming. So Price is wounded and ends up being left behind, and he’s captured by Russian soldiers and imprisoned in the exact gulag that you rescue him from in MW2. Sandman being a part of that mission is also the explanation for why Price and Sandman seemingly know each other during the joint mission between 141 and Delta in MW3. I still find it really cool that they did that little bit of background lore narrative stuff that they really didn’t need to do. It’s a nice touch that they did it anyway and it all interconnects.

The reason price gives you the pistol in cod4 was because he was implied to have died shortly after passing it to you, if you look back at him after killing zakheav his name is gone and he lies motionless, obviously they probably changed it after the remaster cuz suprise price wasnt dead
