I just watched Dustbugs Travel video on Ficksburg. Roads are full of potholes. So sad, my son went to Harriston School about 18 years ago and it was perfect.
What a lekker down to earth channel man🤙🏻. Nice to see the reality we experience in South Africa, not all bad either! People are mostly cheerful and friendly 😊
We lived there for 27 years. It was beautiful. Don't regret leaving in 2021. Most of the money is spent in Qwa Qwa. Very sad to see when we go back, and the smell 🤢
I am from Malaysia, was been at Harrismith, for a couple of weeks in 2023, missed the life at Harrismith, planning to return back to Harrismith soon, but sadly hear this story... hopefully people can do something to make things correct
A good one. If those wanting to promote their small towns knew what they were doing, they would give you a return bus ticket to their town, pay for your accommodation for a week, organise a gig or two for you, give you a thousand or two to spend and let you vlog on whatever you see and encounter during that week. And then get you back there every year for a new vlog.
That is the plan. I just organised a gig in Harrismith and the vlog is doing well so I think it works well for the town and me. What a life that will be. 😎
I live in Harrismith, and although there is not alot of service delivery from our municipality. We have some business people who are really trying to build up the town. I love my beautiful town and will never not want to live here! ⛰️
Same as Pietermaritzburg, just on a bigger scale of course - and also here there are people/businesses who are trying to improve things despite the general incompetence of the municipality.

While there is a lot problems in Harrismith, I think you are looking from the wrong perspective. I don’t see a broken town rather a town with passionate individuals trying to make the best of their political situation. Perhaps you should not judge a book by its cover or rather a town by its municipal infrastructure.
Also funny how people in Harrismith have been coming up to me to thank me to bring these iasues to a wider audience. I'm afraid your comment is misguided and self serving and you are missing the point.
I thought it was an interesting video and reflective of how the Govt has neglected our towns and cities. We can’t just view life through rose tinted glasses.
