My eyes are watery with sweet memories of Rosendal. I literally grew up there , where every school holiday was spent in Mautse. We would walk to "town" .. carrying goods. i miss my grandmother dearly. Such a happy and wonderful childhood i had. I'm grateful. I'll definitely visit the art gallery when I finally come back after many many years as an adult. I would have been super dissapointed if you didnt go to the township. It is so clean and developed compared to back in the days. Thank you for sharing a lovely and wonderful part of my life.

Hi there from NZ. Chris, I like what you do. It's not always safe. My aunt and them stayed there many years ago. I remember the cold in winter. They had chickens and their water bowls was frozen in the mornings, even the water in the water pipes.

This is the same situation even in the so called 1st world countries! There is homelessness and poverty also there it's just up to the government of SA to remedy the situation of these people.

Yes, it failed because there was an abrupt change in the way it was ruled. Whatever discipline was there under white rule disappeared , while the blacks did not have the experience. It was bound to fail !!! Those who got sudden power used it to get rich and secure their families.

1986 went fishing at Poenskoep, the rain came and we got stuck on that road. Had to spend the night in the back of the pickup.Took us most of the next day and the help of the locals to get out.
