- In 1937 the Empire of Japan invades a split up China. The emperor and his generals believes in an easy victory howeever the Chinese puts up a desperate struggle. As both sides engage ever more, the world around them explodes into the Second World War as Germany attacks Poland. Eventually, the war will last some 30 years, bringing both sides to the brink of destruction.

Imagine the utter wasteland that is east asia after this, cities are destroyed thanks to air bombings and troop fightings, towns are completely depopulated, infrastructure burned to the ground causing mass starvation to all involved, warcrimes a plenty causing the participants to fight even harder, revolt against the allies and co prosperity sphere. I cant imagine a world in which china and japan can recover from this in less then 50 years, maybe even more to get back to pre war levels. And that dosent rule out the potential for another conflict to start again with the axis and allies.
True
The only country that fine are mainland japan
The only parts that are for a fact fine are Korea and Mainland Japan
@@derwillhelm3778 I dont thin so. Look what stratetic bombing did to german cities. And that was only a 4 year bombing campaign with 1940s tech.
In this timeline the allies have like ~20 years with more modern bombers at the end.

Ah yes, the Sino-Japanese War. I never knew that it actually went on for 30 years. I guess I have been reading the wrong history books. Anyhow, I'm glad that Paradox is accurately representing how World War 2 went and how it was fought. Who could have known that it was actually Luxembourg that brought the German war machine to a grinding halt in 1945? Who knew that the elite Fallschirmjager divisions capitulated France within a day in 1940? Who also knew that Bhutan dominated over the British Empire after decolonisation? Thanks to Paradox we have a great understanding on what World War Two was truly like. If only my great grandfather could have been alive to tell me stories of how his division of the El Salvadorian Army conquered Tokyo in 1962.

I'm sure at some point, this war was fought with spears.
IRL, China's situation was so scarily desperate from the start that they were unironically fighting with broadswords. The dumb thing is that it wasn't suicidal; night raids by dao-armed troops legitimately wrecked havok across the north, at least for a little while.
The Japanese Banzai bayonet charge was actually pretty effective in China because of how poorly equipped Chinese forces often were. The Japanese troops likewise would often run out of ammunition and turn to bayonets and swords out of desperation.
@@DomWeaselI think you said it, but yeah - both sides used something like a Banzai charge in that war, and it was sort of ludicrous but effective.

Let’s take a moment to realize that Germany took out the Soviets, but are still struggling with the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Britain and the United States.
Britain and the US I can understand, but it's insane how the others kept fighting. That's some grit there.
Britain and Soviet Industry usually same in hoi4, Soviet is not really strong in hoi4, they will have a huge equipment deficit due to lack industry, their huge armies is not match with their industry.

I guess "peace in our time" was a lie in this game
It kinda always is in HOI4 games. Even in ahistorical playthroughs where Germany coups the painter and reforms into a democracy, they'll eventually end up at war with the Soviets anyway.
Nobody:
That one japanese force in the north surrounded by germany: *Let me out, LET ME OUUUUUUUUUUUUT*
Now that's one massive concentration camp.
I don't get it, weren't the Germans and the Japanese allies during ww2?
Imagine how much this war would have changed from beginning to end, from mass charges with bolt action rifles, saturating arty fire and swords to tactically planned and supported attacks with semi-auto/assault rifles and cold war era vehicles, artillery and AT missiles.

Can we get a save file (from the last few years)?
Will you do a German side of this video because I want to see that 1949 German-Soviet war

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraguayan_War#Casualties_of_the_war
I guess everyone was ruled by Lopez, because IRL Paraguay fought until over 60% of their population died. Paraguayan children's day remembers the battle in which they sent large numbers of children to try and stop the advance of the triple alliance...
And Paraguay was the aggressor in this war.
Japan wasn't the only country that did that.

Axis will loss WWII in this scenario
The war is kinda going like man in the high castle
Well actually Germany had a population of around 60 million people by 1939, so I seriously doubt they would have been able to take 25M casualities.
For us observers, we only see changing frontlines, different colours replace different colours. I can't help but wonder, if that was all real, how many lives are lost in such wars? no matter who won, the cost of human lives greatly overshadows the glorious victories. The sound of thousands of troops and tanks marching after their victory by either side cannot be compared to the sorrows and crying of millions of fathers, mothers and lovers when their loved ones return in a coffin .
Just from the chinese pocket from1:47 to 3:39 at the eastern coast of china, countless heroic stories can be told from their couragous last stand against the japanese
Imagine Historians: OK Japan was winning until they used up all their manpower and China still had a ton, but then Japan was winning again until a pocket of Chinese troops centered at Nanjing pulled a pro-gamer move, and then when China was about to win but they decided to join the Allies......
You, sir, have a very good computer
Jesus christ imagine being surrounded by the enemy for 7 years, never giving up and then re-uniting with your allies. Biggest chads in HOI4 history
I really like the casualty counter. Along with the icons for divisions it really gives a clearer idea of what's going on.
Allies probably could've won the war if this continued. I mean, whats the point on having 1,000+ factories if you don't have the manpower to support it.
2:50 China is on the brink of capitulation and makes an epic come back
Thank you for this timelapse it was very interesting
Thanks for showing the casualties
Thanks for the video!
I had a RT56 game where the world was in an (what seemed like) eternal war lasting from 1938-1954. The casualties were crazy and the border gore was so disgusting from the peace deal.
I love that you added casualties
that's good timelapse bro. made more please!
A.I. seems to have big troubles to reduce pockets
The population of Belgium was 8.4 million in 1936, assuming 50% of the population is male that's 4.2 million men. During the war the birth rate was about 100,000 births per year (about half of these would have been 16 by the end of the war in the video) So that's 400,000 (men) on top of the 4.2 million men making 4.6 million, there or thereabouts. The casualties for Belgium are 2.9 million so more than 7 out of every 10 Belgian men alive at the start of the war or born during it was a combat casualty of the war.
Great video as always :)
