I used to live in south Wales as a kid (mountain ash ) moved to England when I was about 11 to live with my grandparents. Wales is such a beautiful place and lately have been bringing my family here on holidays currently we are exploring west Wales
This was actually our first time in South Wales (used to go as a kid there but don't really remember too well). Some really nice coastline and fantastic hikes up in the North.
love watching you two , your just made for each other , made me laugh when ya said had to wait a half hour for sheep to cross lol , in South Australia when sheep cross the road it can take 3 hours to get a 100,000 sheep over the road lol, love the scenery in wales , my great great great grandys come from there ❤
Hey Garth, haha okay half an hour seems not so long now 🤣 -3 hours, imagine getting stuck out in the heat for that long! Yeah Wales is a special place and great that you know your ancestry. 😎
Lovely to see you guys riding though some of my local haunts. I live on the English border and often cross in to Wales on my GSA, particularly the pass from Capel Y Fin to Hay on Wye. I also take the ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare a couple of time of year so it was all very familiar. Thank for the VLOG it was very enjoyable.
Hi, what a lovely part of the world to live in. So many amazing rides through this area! The Ferry from Fishguard is really convenient for doing a loop of Ireland and doesn't take very long. Really good to hear you enjoy the Vlog so thanks very much for taking the time to comment. Hope you enjoy the rest of this series. 😎👍

HI Tim, i didn't know they had clouds in Spain 😉 Hope you are having a relaxing holiday. 5 more weeks in Spain and then a 3 week bike tour sounds fantastic!! Just about to publish the next one.
@@SeanandEmily Oh Clouds a plenty and more rain than I care for haha, You and two will keep me sane and entertained, until my tour, :) Got 2 OSMO Action cams, so will have to sort out, what to buy to hold them.
I’m watching this episode after meeting you both at Garmisch last Sunday . So lovely to meet you both and so wonderful to hear you both speaking Welsh. There is a big GS following in Wales and they’d love more Welsh . ❤
Hi! It was great to meet you too and so nice to hear from you again. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and had a fun ride back home. Hehe we get enough criticism for pronouncing English names slightly wrong let alone Welsh 🙂 Thanks for watching and hopefully bump into you again sometime!
You are very welcome and thanks for supporting the channel by viewing and commenting 👍. Wales has some spectacular locations, just a shame we couldn't have some more time there, for sure an area we would like to return to.

Really happy to hear you are enjoying the Videos and we appreciate your comment. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series 😎👍
Fantastic roads shame about the average speed cams. One thing I would like to ask is why do you always quote your distances in KM's? Just out of curiosity seen as you're not riding in Europe.
Yeah it is a shame and the reduced speed limit of 50. It's habit as we have lived in Switzerland in over 7 years now, just about got used to thinking in miles again and then we get the ferry over to Ireland and are back in KM 😉
Thanks! I kept forgetting to change the speedo back to miles when we get to Northern Ireland and Scotland ...people kicking off thinking i was constantly speeding lol
Loving your vlogs and travels and I speak for all when I say Why can't all pillions be as lovely as Emily ? I had to turn off my Cardo because my wife would scream in my ear when filtering, overtaking, cornering or going >5mph over the posted speed limit. Really enjoying the series so far, we love riding in Wales as well. Pretty bad that the Honey Cafe treated you like that, word gets around with us bikers.
Thanks, great to hear you are enjoying the series! Wales is an amazing place -felt nice to be back home again. Yeah really disappointed in the Honey Cafe as it looked a really nice place -made for a hungry ride to the ferry lol 😂
You missed one great motorbike cafe just off your route - had you not turned left at Sennybridge and travelled down the Swansea valley to the start of the Black mountains, you would have gone through Llandovery along the A40 and a quick 2 min turn off the west end of the town leads you to the Owls nest bikers Cafe, a renowned place for great grub etc. The A40 would have kept you on track for Carmarthen and the valleys west to Fishgaurd. One for the memory bank!!
Yeah we were gutted because we had chosen to go to the Honey café instead and by the time we left there (they took our drinks order but not the food) we didn't really have time to stop again as we had the ferry to catch. But yeah for sure will be going there next time
A good one this and one to note about the Welsh language, although it is an old Celtic language it is one of the eldest languages in Europe and most senior language in the UK but lol some of old Welsh is derived from old Norse if I remember it correctly.
Indeed it is, it's a very interesting language. Whereas English originated form a mixture of French and German (hence the huge vocabulary ) and yeah i believe it is one of the oldest. Thanks for your comment 😎
Great to see you both keeping well ! Shadow, the only way to travel. Wales really is beautiful, looking forward to following your travels again as time permits! PS I thought that was really mean they wouldn't provide you with breakfast, just curious did you speak in Welsh to them ?
Hi, yeah we are good thanks and hope you are well too! Shadow is awesome! -Such a fantastic bike! No worries, all the episodes will be waiting in the playlist for you 😎. Yeah it was disappointing (considering we hadn't eaten and had waited for this place especially lol) Yeah Emily spoke Welsh to them too, must have been a company decision to wait for the coach 🤪
Great filming as ever and I’m impressed by your mastery of the Welsh language! It does make you wonder why a cafe would turn away business?? As you say they could have had your breakfasts cooked by the time the coach arrived and all the passengers had decided on what they wanted! Does make you think they didn’t really like ‘bikers’ 😞 Maybe you should have spoken Welsh to them lol 😆
Thanks very much!! Not sure about mastery but certainly happy to give it a go 😊. Yeah exactly, wish we hadn’t waited to go there now but it has been recommended by a few bikers so not sure really why they wouldn’t, the coffee was good at least and kept us going another few hours. Haha funny think is Em did speak to them in Welsh so they really didn’t want to serve us 😂😂
Hehe I'm sure it's very nice but if you need to call ahead to see if a coach is turning up then it's probably not worth it. I heard Baff Haus is very good too!
Wales is really beautiful. Another destination for the bucketlist(also noticing all the parkingspots for the van). Another helmetslap 😂Can we expect one slap per episode now? (Sorry Sean, but it is hilarious)😂🙈
Yes Wales is truly beautiful, it’s a Shane we didn’t have more time to show more of it. But we figured as we have family there it’s east to revisit. Oh yeah you will be on the lookout for spots for the van now 😎 Guess you’ve tried camp4night? Haha I’m guessing the head slap will only increase in frequency from here on 😂😂
This was a very nice promotiontrip for Wales, with someren Welsh spoken comments. It is an invitation to come to Wales. I hope you had a quiet crossing to Ireland. 😎👍
Hi Ruud, yeah Wales is indeed beautiful-would have liked to show you some more but time didn’t allow 😊. Glad to share a few words of the language too. Crossing went well but we will show you that tomorrow 😎👍
Wales is again also beautifull. On our road trip through the south we dipped into Wales. We visited a small waterfall. Indeed it is nice to see the double language signs. But being from the Netherlands i am used to it, The frisian province here has a "language" of its own. They put dutch and frisian translations on them.. So weird to see the known english and then the totally different words in Welsh.. The waterfall is Blaen y Glyn Isaf..I looked it up.. ☺😃
Hi, yeah Wales really is beautiful 😊 that’s great to hear you visited and there’s plenty more things to see in the area -if we had had more time we could have easily have had several days here. Yeah it’s good to see, when we lived in wales we would also get letters in the post written in both languages. We didn’t know that about Frisian languages being out on sign -we really should spend some more time in the Netherlands as Sean’s Oma was from Amsterdam 😊 Thanks for your comment and it’s nice to hear from you 😎👍🏻
Bleedingwell hate coach companies/trippers, coming back to Germany from my father's funeral in Scotland I couldn't get on the Newcastle-Amsterdam ferry as all the cabins were filled with coach going party trippers, was told "no cabin no ticket". I phoned Stena in Harwich and they said if I left straight away I should make the 6hr journey in time, it took me 6,5hrs, the port was in darkness apart for one booth where a woman did overtime for me. They waited 15mins over the sailing time for me, and gave me an upgrade cabin, my bag was taken to the cabin whilst I was ushered to their classy restaurant and extending the dining time with me being served by two waiters. Never in my whole life have I been made to feel so important. Having expierienced such kindness and service I now never travel with any other ferry (nomatter where I travel to) to/from the UK. LE SHUTTEL is also not an option as I boykot everything 🐸. So glad that Stena also cover Ireland as I have one more trip to do there. Ride safe guys.
Wow that's some prompt action from Stena line and fantastic that they waited for you, that's a hassle you could have done without at that time but we are glad that Stena helped you out. So anything with 'Le' is off limits 😂🐸. We used Stena on the Ireland crossing and as you say a very professional company and the staff are all very friendly. Thanks! 😎
Hey Marko, thanks very much 😎👍🏻 Hehe yeah front and back 🤣 We are using the DJI Action 4 cameras and are really happy with them. (We first used them for the Corsica tour and previously we used GoPro) I think we had a comment from you last week but it disappeared-if we accidentally deleted it sorry 😆. (Or sometimes RUclips glitches)
No, I deleted the comment😂, I thought it was too long and I thought you guys probably would not read it, also my name is Markos (Μάρκος), it is the way we say it in Greece, I won't mind if you guys say it like that, but it is the way we say it in my country😊, also I thought you were using go pros😂
Ahh okay that’s okay then 🤣 -we read all the comments here and do our best to reply (Instagram though has got a bit out of control 😁). Markos it is then 👍🏻 The quality of both cameras is very good but the DJI are a lot easier to change the batteries etc.
Glad to see you guy's back home can't believe the cafe 20mph??? that's a joke spoils all the fun it will put a lot of bikers going to Wales enjoy the crossing hope you both don't turn green enjoy the green island 🏴🇮🇪 Neil
Hi Neil, yeah the 20mph limit has frustrated a lot of people living there. It’s actually difficult to ride at 20! Apparently it cost millions to change all the signs and to put up more signs to tell people there’s a new speed limit 🤣. Cafe was a major disappointment especially as we were already hungry when we arrived! 😆 -it looks a nice one though so hopefully people won’t be put off. Crossing went well but that will be tomorrow’s episode 😎👍
From a fellow Englander living in Wales, diolch yn fawer 😊. Quick question on how you are finding the BMW Connectedride Nav? Ive just splashed out on one for my GSA and so far really impressed with it.
You’re welcome Mark 😊 So far so good! We are running GPX files made with calimoto on it and it’s been working well. Also impressed that so far it’s has every place name and hotel in it when we searched. The only annoying thing is that you need to make sure you download each country as we got caught out last week in Germany although not really an issue as we just gave it a hit slot from our phone. It’s not as robust as the Nav V as our already has a huge scratch on the screen and we have no idea where it came from - perhaps a screen protector would be a good idea. 😎👍🏻
@@SeanandEmily brilliant. I used the ConnectedRide app on my iPhone, in the cradle, for navigating during a recent Euro tour and it worked well. Looking forward to more of your travels 👍
Lived in South Wales for five years, some amazing biking roads and friendly bikers…happy days. Never mastered Welsh but a lot of my colleagues spoke it as a first language, they always laughed at my pronunciation. Can’t believe there are cameras now on the Black Mountain Road😢
That must have been a nice place to live and as you say so many amazing biking roads around the area! There's lots of place names we wont even try to pronounce lol. Yeah, there is a 50mph limit and cameras everywhere! -We find it funny how one is permitted to ride at 60mph in the country lanes yet the wide open pass is 50mph!!
Been to the Honey Cafe many times…it’s great..20 MPH Zones are great too if you live in that village and have kids, pets and want an enjoyable life. People do 30 in a 20 and will do 40 in a thirty. It adds around two or three minutes on a long journey. Petrol heads don’t like it but as villagers we do. I lived on an A road for thirty years. It was a nightmare
It sure looked good but didn't have a good experience ourselves 😂. I think you are the first person we have spoke to that liked the 20 Zones -but we see your point if everyone is consistently driving over the limit (here in Switzerland Ze speed limit is obeyed at all times 😊) Otherwise we hoped you liked the video and appreciated the magnificent views.
Actually, for your travel route in England, are you using village roads? and does England use the euro currency because this country left the European Union last year?
Hi yes we are mostly using village roads which is why it’s taking us a long time to get places. There are lots of fast motorways in case you need to get places quicker. The UK has never used the Euro and has always used the British Pound 👍🏻
Hi guys, just watched your wales video and love it. Sean....just out of curiosity what school did you go to? The reason why i ask is that im from north east wales and went to hawarden high school, which was one of the english speaking schools with some welsh lessons and wasn't intensive like most of the other schools.
Hi Steve, thanks! Glad you are enjoying the UK series, we do actually know people that went to that school but from what you say it sounds very familiar where Welsh was taught but not so strictly.
@@SeanandEmily Thanks for your reply sean/emily. I went to hawarden high way back from 1976 to 1980 lol. I think we only had 2 or 3 lessons a week on welsh which is not really enough to learn fluently. I think the other couple of schools that didnt really go big for welsh speaking was deeside high and connahs quay. I live in llanelli now but still go up north quite a bit to see family. My wife and i have a wedding to go to next year in dublin so we are going to take the bike and make a holiday of it on the wild atlantic way, then norway the following year. Enjoy your tour guys and ride safe.
That sounds like a great trip!! Hope you find some places in the next several episodes that you might like to visit. We had a great night in Westport -live music and a lovely town 😎👍🏻
Hey bro I am even following you up in Instagram as well , Do you think buying 2016 with 7165 miles is a worth to buy in 2024 it’s a 1200gs please let me know I am so curious to buy one but the newer one doesn’t fit my budget .. please let me know bro your thoughts on this ?
Hey, with only 7165 miles that sounds good 😎👍🏻. I still have my 2010 R1200GSA with 50,000 miles and it’s running fantastic! So 2016 wasn’t the first generation of liquid cooled GS’s so any issues should have been ironed out by then. Sounds good to me 😎👍🏻
Did the black mountain pass in may, such a shame with the cameras, and i think they have let the road go to shit so you dont want to go fast. Paint ball gun sounds like an epic idea
Who would have thought you could both speak Welsh. A Welsh speaking, Switzerland residing English couple. 😳 Years ago if an English person went into a shop in Wales and other local customers were speaking English, they would immediately switch to Welsh upon hearing an English person. They would also often be quite vocally personal and insulting about the English person. This happened to a HGV driver mate of mine a few times but like yourselves, he could also speak Welsh and would often just listen on in apparent ignorance and then as he was leaving the shop he would bid them farewell and wish them a good day, or ask directions to a local hotel etc, all in Welsh of course, just to let them know he’d understood everything which had been said about him. 😂😂
Haha yeah it’s pretty unique lol 🤣 Well I sounds way I speak Welsh fluently but Emily was schooled in Welsh through primary schools so I reckon she must still be fluent. Yeah I remember that situation when visiting friends lol although I hope they weren’t talking about me 😁. Haha actually I do that a lot but in German , pretend not to understand then say goodbye 😁 although to be honest there’s never been anything offensive but you can see the look in people faces where they are trying to recall what they just spoke about 😂.
Im afraid i think they had an issue with bikers! We were refused service in a pizza restaurant in St Ives in Cornwall once, years ago. They said they were fully booked but the place was empty! Not happy!!!!!
Not sure really as it’s a well known biker stop. Think they just got it in their head that a coach was coming ….funny thing is the coach was half empty. Really annoying as we had waited to eat so we could go there and then didn’t have time to look for another place. That’s annoying for you -especially a pizza place!
That attitude of the Honey Cafe was disgraceful unfortunately as you didn,t know the area, as you dropped down the Black Mountain Pass into Llandovery you passed the Owls Nest cafe on the left and the West Side Cafe was in front as you join the main A40 in the town, both very popular with bikers .
Yeah we were really disappointed in them! I think someone had recommended that one (I think) to us too but by the time we had parked up, took our gear off and waited for the coffees to arrive (those we could order no problem) and got ready again we had lost too much time so had no choice but to not eat until we got to the ferry in the afternoon (we had explained this too but to no avail).
There’s hundreds of lanes mounting roads that are stunning, was up there 3 months ago 🏴 problem with wales and the language, is the job opportunities are not brilliant, I’ve 3 children all Welsh speakers two choose England after university the other one had no choice so goes where he’s posted military , the wages are 3 to 4 times better in England for what they do for a living that’s why we can’t keep the people if you wish to earn more they leave 😢
Hi Martin, Yeah I think we could have spent months there and still had plenty of new routes to ride, Wales is indeed stunning. We had no idea that there was such a wage gap, it’s no wonder people are moving away. Thanks for your comment it’s good to know the current situation. 👍🏻
Wow thanks Chris for your fantastic contribution, of all of the amazing scenery and fantastic rides in Wales that's what you decide to comment on! 🤣 Started in Abergavenny, finished in Fishguard Via the Brecon Beacons which runs between Mid and South Wales, really not a big deal.

Yeah we were gutted because we had chosen to go to the Honey café instead and by the time we left there (they took our drinks order but not the food) we didn't really have time to stop again as we had the ferry to catch. But yeah for sure will be going there next time
@@SeanandEmily It is closed on a Monday FYI....open every day from 1030am till close
That’s some handy info! Thanks 😊
Emily: “Too far, mine was cute”
Sean: “Was it a pink paintball gun or something?”
Me (also Sean): 😂
🤣😂🤣
Haha funny think is Em did speak to them in Welsh so they really didn’t want to serve us 😂😂
Well the honey cafe is a place to avoid then 😂
Stopping at the Baff Haus on Friday 19th should get a welcome there
Hehe I'm sure it's very nice but if you need to call ahead to see if a coach is turning up then it's probably not worth it. I heard Baff Haus is very good too!
13.01 OMG LOOK AT THAT VIEW, NEED TO PULL OVER TAKE THAT IN.🙏
Yeah it was spectacular! We love it when the crest of a hill reveals a fantastic view! That's exactly where we pulled over to soak up the view 😎
Oh yeah you will be on the lookout for spots for the van now 😎
Guess you’ve tried camp4night?
Haha I’m guessing the head slap will only increase in frequency from here on 😂😂
This was a very nice promotiontrip for Wales, with someren Welsh spoken comments. It is an invitation to come to Wales. I hope you had a quiet crossing to Ireland. 😎👍
Hi Ruud, yeah Wales is indeed beautiful-would have liked to show you some more but time didn’t allow 😊. Glad to share a few words of the language too. Crossing went well but we will show you that tomorrow 😎👍
Yes, the Honey Cafe shows Welsh customer service at its best!
We didn’t know that about Frisian languages being out on sign -we really should spend some more time in the Netherlands as Sean’s Oma was from Amsterdam 😊
Thanks for your comment and it’s nice to hear from you 😎👍🏻
@16.08 mins you passed the spot where the lads were first dropped of in "American werewolf in London".
Oh really! Had no idea, well spotted! 😎👍🏻
Thanks! 😎
Fantastic customer service!! 👍🏽👍🏽
Stena is a classy company, never had a bad experience with them what so ever.
Hey guys, love the video, beautiful scenery, I wanted to ask what cameras you guys use, i see you have a "lot of cameras", anyway safe travels!!
Hey Marko, thanks very much 😎👍🏻
Hehe yeah front and back 🤣 We are using the DJI Action 4 cameras and are really happy with them. (We first used them for the Corsica tour and previously we used GoPro)
I think we had a comment from you last week but it disappeared-if we accidentally deleted it sorry 😆.
Markos it is then 👍🏻
The quality of both cameras is very good but the DJI are a lot easier to change the batteries etc.
Really good biking road between Abegavenny and Becon and you are riding on a lane ?
By lane you mean the Gospel pass -an extremely picturesque road 😉
From a fellow Englander living in Wales, diolch yn fawer 😊.
Quick question on how you are finding the BMW Connectedride Nav? Ive just splashed out on one for my GSA and so far really impressed with it.
You’re welcome Mark 😊
So far so good!
I think you are the first person we have spoke to that liked the 20 Zones -but we see your point if everyone is consistently driving over the limit (here in Switzerland Ze speed limit is obeyed at all times 😊)
Otherwise we hoped you liked the video and appreciated the magnificent views.
@@SeanandEmily yep the video was excellent….travel safe
Thanks 😊👍🏻
Hey Guys, I'm watching this episode the morning after the Wallabies beat Wales 36-28.... not that I'm bragging!!!!!!!
Haha 🤣, better luck next time Dragons! 🐲
@@SeanandEmily Hopefully i will, so long as i dont have to walk far lol. Double knee replacements needed.
Don't worry we didn't do much walking on this tour -only to the bar 😊
Sounds good to me 😎👍🏻
what helmet you use?
These at the Touratech Adventure helmet
Thanks
So sorry! I am so behind on my likes for all your awesome video ❤ Thank You x
No worries! Thanks for watching -it's great to know you are enjoying the videos 😀👍
You were very respectful to them considering they weren’t to you
Yeah gave them the benefit of the doubt as it seemed a nice place, maybe they were understaffed …..still blame them for being hungry though 😂😂😂
Did the black mountain pass in may, such a shame with the cameras, and i think they have let the road go to shit so you dont want to go fast. Paint ball gun sounds like an epic idea
Hi, yeah it is a shame! and a 50mph speed limit 😒
Who would have thought you could both speak Welsh. A Welsh speaking, Switzerland residing English couple. 😳
Years ago if an English person went into a shop in Wales and other local customers were speaking English, they would immediately switch to Welsh upon hearing an English person. 😂😂
Haha yeah it’s pretty unique lol 🤣
Well I sounds way I speak Welsh fluently but Emily was schooled in Welsh through primary schools so I reckon she must still be fluent.
20 miles per hour!
Yep I believe almost everywhere that was 30 in Wales is now 20 🤦🏻♂️
Im afraid i think they had an issue with bikers!
That’s annoying for you -especially a pizza place!
mae hi'n Wallabies
🤣
Typo: West End Cafe guys 😊
👍🏻
MID WALES,, not South.
Wow thanks Chris for your fantastic contribution, of all of the amazing scenery and fantastic rides in Wales that's what you decide to comment on! 🤣
Started in Abergavenny, finished in Fishguard Via the Brecon Beacons which runs between Mid and South Wales, really not a big deal.
