But imagination in it's current contex ( meaning that it comes from nowhere ) isn't really of any value and what eistine is implying is true it just defiantly comes from somewhere and that is what is imporant understand where it comes from and how to deal with negative shit is imparative for servival and a good standard of living. It might be a phylosophy of mine and so there for it is placed deep inside a reply in a RUclips video. I don't want to get burned at the stake.

Your proposal as to why Bruno returned to Italy, risked arrest, and refused to recant rings true to me. I believe that Joan of Arc was similarly motivated---both were mystics who were in direct contact with God. They hoped their deaths would contribute to ending the Inquisition and would bring greater freedom to being in direct contact with God.

This is such a good video. Even if I'm just an IT student with so little idea of the subject, I can definitely understand what you're discussing.
Bruno is definitely one of the greatest and bravest minds that ever lived. Indeed we live in a literal cold and infinite span of space we call our universe; so unforgiving yet strong reminder that we are not as inherently significant as what we think we are, to be cherry picked by a divine entity out of not thousands but billions of planets. Nonetheless we are hopeful that our small planet can produce individuals such as Bruno or the fellow who is talking in the video, to talk about their ideas in hopes of educating people in their own ways.

I hope you will do more videos on Giordano Bruno.I have always had a challenge understanding his philosophy because I am not university educated. (I have never tired of the challenge) I think that Giordano Bruno knew his philosophy would not survive after his death if his death was in a comfortable bed as an old man. What you say makes sense. But if he took it to Rome, challenged the pope and church, one way or other, He would be remembered, and what was more important than that his work and life be remembered? It might not have been a fully conscious decision. It was a risk to return to Italy but he wasn't afraid. Maybe he even longed to have a (Final) competition/bout/argument with the church? (I see in my imagination a sword fight.) Also, and as a Gnostic Christian, it has always been very important to me, personally, that he believed in Reincarnation. He knew that no one life would end his story and that the pattern would continue on , life after life.
The soul is immortal and can not die. Nothing human beings do can destroy the soul. That, I think, was one of the secret sources of his strength. ---His belief that they couldn't destroy his essence. You don't mention it but that may have gone into that equation, also.

@@SeekersofUnity Sir, there is another thing that should be considered about his motivations. i know it because I've had the same fight. I left Roman Catholicism at the age of 17. It was rebellion, disgust, rejection, a desire to explore other religions. I was in a Catholic HS and realized my faith had shattered. I didn't believe, any longer. I studied every religion I could. Studied the history of religion. That is how I grew to study Giordano Bruno, originally.. I was drawn to a fellow Ex Catholic who left the Church and worked diligently to create another way to see (the world) His creation, his philosophy and poetry, was his way to escape the church, inside, just as studying Buddhism, Hinduism and Taoism helped me escape. He was a Roman Catholic from birth. When you say your 'hail marys' and 'our fathers' from childhood on your mama's lap. There is a statue or two in your house, when You go to church at 3 ... The doctrines of the Church.. no, not doctrines.. the emotions.. feelings.. culture of the church (the incense,Gregorian chant, the favorite old stories) digs deep within your soul. Even when you think you have left the church, the church never leaves you. There is a part of me that will always be Catholic. It's just a room in my soul. Even now, sometimes, I think I could return. And, then, I remember how miserable I was and I shake my head. I don't escape once, I escape every single day. Bruno was an astute intellectual, but as a mystic, he also did a lot of inner work and knowing. A mystic doesn't escape their insides, they walk into every room of their souls and try to understand themselves.

@@kathleenhensley5951 Thank You, I agree with you. I believe that Bruno believed -> in a "KNOWING ness' philosophy that from a scientific perspective is hard to prove. It wasn't till I was 16 years to find the word 'REINCARNATION' to explain my memory of past lives. From a psychological point of view, I've also felt a duty to REPAY or CORRECT some of my personal karmic debt. The fact that Christ's word of 'REINCARNATION' was changed in the Bible ==> "In A.D. 325 the Roman emperor Constantine the Great, along with his mother, Helena, had deleted references to reincarnation contained in the New Testament." Why; because it meant the CHURCH could still demand servitude / monies / control education for the elite male system, thus limiting the lower classes to their dire circumstances & existence. How can you be a CHRISTIAN church and still have children to adults not fed and not fed with the truth. God is the Infinite - all possible moments within ... [ Heaven on Earth , requires HUEMAN's to get their shit together on this pale Blue Dot.] ... hmmm free thinking ... I've always love DEBATING our reality, wouldn't it be interesting to develop a .. I doubt that a finer exposition on this subject has ever been presented in any institution of higher learning. Never realized how close my actual beliefs are to Bruno's.
St. John of the Cross was also imprisoned by the inquisition. In his case though, he had a miraculous escape and was later canonized. He actually attributed his imprisonment with the beginning of his mystical experiences. Isolation in a filthy four by six cell with a slit for a window twelve feet from the floor. With everyone in lockdown, I hope someone is enjoying some mystical benefit due to self isolation. It could happen, with a little Grace.

We should remember that Bruno lived in the time of the great rivalry between 3 Christian fractions, Catholic Church, Reformation - supported by England, and the Holy empire ruled by Rudolf, fascinated by alchemy and Christian neoplatonism. Some of the english historians assume, that Bruno could be one of the Welsingham's spies, just like eg. John Dee (known as 007), we can't deny that Bruno was dangerous mind for church, bacause of his mnemonic techniques as well as his worldview. It can be conspiracy theory, just like it can be with Chris Marlowe, but we know that in that particular time, cryptography evolved like never before and espionage influenced European politics, from London to Constantinople.

Spin around, like a whirling dervish, clockwise (yin in the southern hemisphere/yang in the northern hemisphere) or counterclockwise (yang in the southern hemisphere/yin in the northern hemisphere). Chant any of these mantras 3 times each while facing east, west, south(in the northern hemisphere) or north(in the southern hemisphere): "iaueh", "ieoah", "aum", and "om". Sleep with your head placed east, west, south(in the northern hemisphere) or north(in the southern hemisphere). thank you for this. i can only imagine the amount of research and effort that went into this. thank you for enlightening me with this information. thank you, Bruno. And sorry to you, Bruno. One small critique: While it is oh so much rarer that people are burnt at stakes for expressing truths, we are still far from a world of freedom of thought expression. Soheil Arabi. Sarah Hejazi. Ra'ef Badawie. Fahad Alfawad. Asia Bibi. And so so so many more the memory of mine cannot do them justice. Let us not forget them. Thank you again ever so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I wish you well

As for the primary content of this video pertaining to the life of Bruno, much is appreciated concerning the daring life of this genius of mankind and his sad end by the church. As to his comparison with Christ, as if he were above Him and greater in deed, it is to your discredit that you would esteem a mere man higher and greater than the Messiah Himself, infinitely superior as the sun is to a ray of light.

BTW I was in Rome at the Campo for the 400th anniversary of Bruno's burning. I walked the same route Bruno walked when he was burned alive four centuries previously. Like you, I think Bruno knew that his martyrdom would make certain that his brilliant [if occasionally more medieval than Renaissance in essence) would nevertheless always be remembered.

Bruno seems to have been a genius of the Renaissance. He is similar in strangeness (to me, at least) to Johannes Kepler, parti9as he was described in Aurther Koestler's *The sleepwalkers*. They're both "early modern" thinkers. I always think of Prospero from The Tempest: a strange wizard who had access to tomes of acrane knowledge. It was the birthing of modernity, but not yet modern. Mathematics and God make strange bedfellows, but they feel equally necessary to me, which is possibly why the early modern period always interested me.

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.” -- H.P. Lovecraft.

As a personality, Bruno always reminds me of William Blake. Their philosophical outlooks and historical situations might be very different, but Bruno and Blake share an intense originality, an unconcealed scorn for conventional thinkers, and a bewilderingly complex personal mythology. In both cases, their extreme intellectual isolation could easily tip into paranoia against friends and supporters. I suspect that Bruno and Blake were both easy to admire or love, but difficult to befriend.

1 - At the end of the Age of Taurus, the character Moses destroyed the “golden calf”. At the end of the Age of Aries, “the lamb was slain.” At the beginning of the Age of Pisces, the “disciples” were fishermen. The next Age is that of Aquarius, symbolized by a man with a pitcher. (The Ages are due to the precession of the equinoxes, an astronomical phenomenon).
2 - On December 25, the three stars in Orion's Belt - Mintaka, Alnilam and Alnitak (Arabic names) - are aligned with the brightest star, Sirius, and this alignment points to the east, the place of “birth” of the Sun. (The three stars “follow” Sirius)
