This is such a good video. Even if I'm just an IT student with so little idea of the subject, I can definitely understand what you're discussing. Bruno is definitely one of the greatest and bravest minds that ever lived. Indeed we live in a literal cold and infinite span of space we call our universe; so unforgiving yet strong reminder that we are not as inherently significant as what we think we are, to be cherry picked by a divine entity out of not thousands but billions of planets. Nonetheless we are hopeful that our small planet can produce individuals such as Bruno or the fellow who is talking in the video, to talk about their ideas in hopes of educating people in their own ways.

Freedom isn't always free :And the truth will set you free!!!... We shall all be inspired to be like Bruno elevating the mind and real truth seeking!!!!!...
Minor point: It's not "beautified." It's BEATIFIED, one of the steps toward being declared a saint in the RCC. Thanks for this great video. Bruno was a hero for free thought.
The Great Magnus. Like Newton, science tries to claim him, but they belong to us. They do him a disservice by insisting he was only concerned with the infinite stars. His teaching was much more vast.
Thanks for putting this one together, super enjoyable, I just learned a shit load about this awesome dude I’ve never really heard much about, until now, loved this perspective!
I hope you will do more videos on Giordano Bruno.I have always had a challenge understanding his philosophy because I am not university educated. (I have never tired of the challenge) I think that Giordano Bruno knew his philosophy would not survive after his death if his death was in a comfortable bed as an old man. What you say makes sense. But if he took it to Rome, challenged the pope and church, one way or other, He would be remembered, and what was more important than that his work and life be remembered? It might not have been a fully conscious decision. It was a risk to return to Italy but he wasn't afraid. Maybe he even longed to have a (Final) competition/bout/argument with the church? (I see in my imagination a sword fight.) Also, and as a Gnostic Christian, it has always been very important to me, personally, that he believed in Reincarnation. He knew that no one life would end his story and that the pattern would continue on , life after life. The soul is immortal and can not die. Nothing human beings do can destroy the soul. That, I think, was one of the secret sources of his strength. ---His belief that they couldn't destroy his essence. You don't mention it but that may have gone into that equation, also.
@@SeekersofUnity Sir, there is another thing that should be considered about his motivations. i know it because I've had the same fight. I left Roman Catholicism at the age of 17. It was rebellion, disgust, rejection, a desire to explore other religions. I was in a Catholic HS and realized my faith had shattered. I didn't believe, any longer. I studied every religion I could. Studied the history of religion. That is how I grew to study Giordano Bruno, originally.. I was drawn to a fellow Ex Catholic who left the Church and worked diligently to create another way to see (the world) His creation, his philosophy and poetry, was his way to escape the church, inside, just as studying Buddhism, Hinduism and Taoism helped me escape. He was a Roman Catholic from birth. When you say your 'hail marys' and 'our fathers' from childhood on your mama's lap. There is a statue or two in your house, when You go to church at 3 ... The doctrines of the Church.. no, not doctrines.. the emotions.. feelings.. culture of the church (the incense,Gregorian chant, the favorite old stories) digs deep within your soul. Even when you think you have left the church, the church never leaves you. There is a part of me that will always be Catholic. It's just a room in my soul. Even now, sometimes, I think I could return. And, then, I remember how miserable I was and I shake my head. I don't escape once, I escape every single day. Bruno was an astute intellectual, but as a mystic, he also did a lot of inner work and knowing. A mystic doesn't escape their insides, they walk into every room of their souls and try to understand themselves.
Hi Kathleen, Thank you for sharing that very intimate and personal journey with you. We can definitely resonate with you here as many seekers left/are leaving places of constriction to places of expansion and inclusivity. We hope you feel at home here at Seekers of Unity. With love, Zevi
@@kathleenhensley5951 Thank You, I agree with you. I believe that Bruno believed -> in a "KNOWING ness' philosophy that from a scientific perspective is hard to prove. It wasn't till I was 16 years to find the word 'REINCARNATION' to explain my memory of past lives. From a psychological point of view, I've also felt a duty to REPAY or CORRECT some of my personal karmic debt. The fact that Christ's word of 'REINCARNATION' was changed in the Bible ==> "In A.D. 325 the Roman emperor Constantine the Great, along with his mother, Helena, had deleted references to reincarnation contained in the New Testament." Why; because it meant the CHURCH could still demand servitude / monies / control education for the elite male system, thus limiting the lower classes to their dire circumstances & existence. How can you be a CHRISTIAN church and still have children to adults not fed and not fed with the truth. God is the Infinite - all possible moments within ... [ Heaven on Earth , requires HUEMAN's to get their shit together on this pale Blue Dot.] ... hmmm free thinking ... I've always love DEBATING our reality, wouldn't it be interesting to develop a .. I doubt that a finer exposition on this subject has ever been presented in any institution of higher learning. Never realized how close my actual beliefs are to Bruno's. St. John of the Cross was also imprisoned by the inquisition. In his case though, he had a miraculous escape and was later canonized. He actually attributed his imprisonment with the beginning of his mystical experiences. Isolation in a filthy four by six cell with a slit for a window twelve feet from the floor. With everyone in lockdown, I hope someone is enjoying some mystical benefit due to self isolation. It could happen, with a little Grace. Brilliant video once again, and be safe and secure in the light of Truth. Always a pleasure to see the notificatoon. Cheers.
Thank you for the incredibly kind compliment. We do our best to bring giants like Bruno to light and hope we have done him justice. Really glad you are enjoying the vids. Isolation and lockdown definitely are a great time for mysticism to take its place in the forefront of our hearts and minds.
I would be remiss if I were not to recognize and commend you on your excellent usage of lexicons flawlessly flowing with your command of the English language. It is pure joy to hear them in conversation.

Scientist & Religionists are both different sides of the same coin of Belief being that both need to believe in their findings claiming that The Other has no basis of True Reason.
We should remember that Bruno lived in the time of the great rivalry between 3 Christian fractions, Catholic Church, Reformation - supported by England, and the Holy empire ruled by Rudolf, fascinated by alchemy and Christian neoplatonism. Some of the english historians assume, that Bruno could be one of the Welsingham's spies, just like eg. John Dee (known as 007), we can't deny that Bruno was dangerous mind for church, bacause of his mnemonic techniques as well as his worldview. It can be conspiracy theory, just like it can be with Chris Marlowe, but we know that in that particular time, cryptography evolved like never before and espionage influenced European politics, from London to Constantinople.
If you're looking to read bruno to merely confirm your nonsensical beliefs about Jesus you will be disappointed... just as the content of this video and its title suggest
I first learned of Giordano Bruno from Jacob Bronowski’s book and Documentary series The Ascent of Man. I was really very impressed with his segment on Bruno. It’s my favorite part of the series. The book is available. I found the documentary series on ild VHS tapes in the public library in Alamosa, Colorado by chance, wasn’t even searching for it. So glad I found it and viewed the whole series.

As for the primary content of this video pertaining to the life of Bruno, much is appreciated concerning the daring life of this genius of mankind and his sad end by the church. As to his comparison with Christ, as if he were above Him and greater in deed, it is to your discredit that you would esteem a mere man higher and greater than the Messiah Himself, infinitely superior as the sun is to a ray of light.

BTW I was in Rome at the Campo for the 400th anniversary of Bruno's burning. I walked the same route Bruno walked when he was burned alive four centuries previously. Like you, I think Bruno knew that his martyrdom would make certain that his brilliant [if occasionally more medieval than Renaissance in essence) would nevertheless always be remembered.
I admire Bruno; he spoke a truth that the religious community wasn’t able to accept out of fear. Spinoza was similar in some respects. Religion is a mind plague that divides and destroys humanity
In Asia the universe was infinite since pre history and it never stopped them to develop and enforce morality. Just make your God as big as the universe.
Bruno seems to have been a genius of the Renaissance. He is similar in strangeness (to me, at least) to Johannes Kepler, parti9as he was described in Aurther Koestler's *The sleepwalkers*. They're both "early modern" thinkers. I always think of Prospero from The Tempest: a strange wizard who had access to tomes of acrane knowledge. It was the birthing of modernity, but not yet modern. Mathematics and God make strange bedfellows, but they feel equally necessary to me, which is possibly why the early modern period always interested me.
I believe there was a challenge to another human being who met a similar fate. His name was Anicius Boethius. I am currently reading "The Consultation of Philosophy"
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.” -- H.P. Lovecraft.
As a personality, Bruno always reminds me of William Blake. Their philosophical outlooks and historical situations might be very different, but Bruno and Blake share an intense originality, an unconcealed scorn for conventional thinkers, and a bewilderingly complex personal mythology. In both cases, their extreme intellectual isolation could easily tip into paranoia against friends and supporters. I suspect that Bruno and Blake were both easy to admire or love, but difficult to befriend.

I think it’s important to distinguish between the Roman Catholic Church as institution, which has often been extremely corrupt, and the RCC as a set of doctrines and ideals which has only occasionally been lived up to. St Francis of Assisi is a product
Even among the 'pans'there's some debate as to what he was; Pantheist, Panentheist or Pandeist?well in my reading he would seem to have been a Panentheist as he seems to have held that the universe was animated by an external,to the universe, Force.

This reminds me of my life too. I've gotten in trouble in several jobs bc I'm too candid. I complained a lot mostly how the work place could be improved w inexpensive fixes. I'm guessing my candor again
1 - At the end of the Age of Taurus, the character Moses destroyed the “golden calf”. At the end of the Age of Aries, “the lamb was slain.” At the beginning of the Age of Pisces, the “disciples” were fishermen. The next Age is that of Aquarius, symbolized by a man with a pitcher. (The Ages are due to the precession of the equinoxes, an astronomical phenomenon). 2 - On December 25, the three stars in Orion's Belt - Mintaka, Alnilam and Alnitak (Arabic names) - are aligned with the brightest star, Sirius, and this alignment points to the east, the place of “birth” of the Sun. (The three stars “follow” Sirius)
Intuition is the common characteristic of all great men, and Giordano Bruno was a true Hermetist. You could start with the Asclepius or The Corpus Hermeticum

I’m here from Let’s Talk Religion Channel. Thank you so much for your fantastic video 🌺🌷🌸
Thank you Raya, glad you liked it. 😊 Just curious, how’d you get from Let’s Talk Religion to here?
@@SeekersofUnity I was going through the comments section of the Shankara video and saw your comment and Let’s Talk about Religions’s reply to you.
Oh nice. Thank you ☺️
@@SeekersofUnity since you two are into mysticism, perhaps he could give you a shout ? 👍🏼
Wait till you see what’s coming out this Saturday night 😉
The Great Magnus. Like Newton, science tries to claim him, but they belong to us. They do him a disservice by insisting he was only concerned with the infinite stars. His teaching was much more vast.
Watching this on my lunch break between Talmud and Chasidut at Hebrew College, loving your work! Viva la Bruno!
Thank you so much. Gotta be more specific Beni, what mesechta and what chassidus?

That’s dope.
Excellent summary on the life of Giordano Bruno and the hypothesis about his death.
Thank you Guillermo. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for putting this one together, super enjoyable, I just learned a shit load about this awesome dude I’ve never really heard much about, until now, loved this perspective!
You’re most welcome Jeff. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Magnifico, thank you for the beautiful explanation and yes we'll wait for the next episode. "BRUNO EL HÉROE OLVIDADO"

A true lover of Divine and a man of immense strength .
Thanks for pointing that out Kathleen. That definitely is worth highlighting and we may have stressed it more. Thank you 🙏🏼
@@SeekersofUnity Sir, there is another thing that should be considered about his motivations. i know it because I've had the same fight.
Hi Kathleen,
Thank you for sharing that very intimate and personal journey with you. We can definitely resonate with you here as many seekers left/are leaving places of constriction to places of expansion and inclusivity.
We hope you feel at home here at Seekers of Unity.
With love,

Wow, thank you for sharing
DEBATE on Truth & Free Thinking.
This is beautiful. Thank you profoundly. And yes please, a video on his philosophy.
Thank you Sebastian. Thank you so much. We’re moving into Spinoza next but we will definitely get back to the Renaissance before long. One of our favorite periods.
@@SeekersofUnity Wonderful. I very much look forward to it. And to Spinoza. You're a new discovery for me, and of course Spinoza too sits right there among the people I am most interested in.
This was amazing. Thank you for making this video.

@@SeekersofUnity I did not just enjoy it, you have introduced me to the most interesting figure since I first heard of Diogenes. The coming weeks and probably years I will be reading everything I can find written by or about him.
Haha, i couldn't be happier to hear that. He really is quite something. Along with a host of other incredibly fascinating figures we try present here at the channel ;)
Seriously though this has got to be your most beautiful video!
Thank you friend 🙏🏼
I would be remiss if I were not to recognize and commend you on your excellent usage of lexicons flawlessly flowing with your command of the English language. It is pure joy to hear them in conversation.
Yes, please more videos on Bruno's philosophy.

very interesting video. I’m a phd student and i study giordano bruno and his influence in shakespeare’s works, so well done good job ❤❤❤ 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you friend. That means a lot.
Indeed. I wonder about Bruno and Dee. Inevitable interaction seems to me, on several levels.
Well done. Thank you.👍
You’re most welcome 🙏🏼
What would you say is the best book/resources to understand Bruno's theology and how he came to those conclusions (about the Trinity, Jesus etc.)?
If you're looking to read bruno to merely confirm your nonsensical beliefs about Jesus you will be disappointed... just as the content of this video and its title suggest
thanks, great video thoroughly enjoyed it ,thanks for all your hard work.
Thank you Philippa. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Yes please to a video on Bruno's philosophy. This one was fantastic
So glad I found it and viewed the whole series.

thank you for this. i can only imagine the amount of research and effort that went into this. thank you for enlightening me with this information. thank you, Bruno. And sorry to you, Bruno. One small critique: While it is oh so much rarer that people are burnt at stakes for expressing truths, we are still far from a world of freedom of thought expression. Soheil Arabi. Sarah Hejazi. Ra'ef Badawie. Fahad Alfawad. Asia Bibi. And so so so many more the memory of mine cannot do them justice. Let us not forget them. Thank you again ever so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I wish you well

I LOVED, yes Loved this excellent video so much as I had just recently hear of Bruno Giordano , and I feel like it was God's or an Ancestor's hand that led Name and search on him. Very good content, dates, quotes et.al. free thought on this. THANK YOU!
Glad you enjoyed it my friend. Keep seeking.
Can you do a video on Bruno's pantheism and spiritual philosophy?
Hopefully
As for the primary content of this video pertaining to the life of Bruno, much is appreciated concerning the daring life of this genius of mankind and his sad end by the church. As to his comparison with Christ, as if he were above Him and greater in deed, it is to your discredit that you would esteem a mere man higher and greater than the Messiah Himself, infinitely superior as the sun is to a ray of light.
This is great - anyhow I shall embed from your Videos on my Blog! Unfortunately I cannot give you the link! It falls into the Spam Catcher - this is RUclips!

Hey Seeker, have you made a video on the Ars Memoria? Would be very interesting to hear, because I only know of the Hermetic perspective on this matter, like Martin Faulks', would be nice to know what is the more Jewish inclined one or even a comparison between all mystical traditions like Sufism etc...

You’re most welcome 2B. Glad you liked it.
Spiritually enabled scientism; 100% dexterity.
In Asia the universe was infinite since pre history and it never stopped them to develop and enforce morality. Just make your God as big as the universe.
Bravo Zeb, vorrei ancora de la philosphia Brunesca!
Amazing but true how one can understand reality by thought alone!

My grand father called my father Giordano Bruno it was the year 1903, i can undersatnd the reason now after so many years
What does that actually mean?🤔
Even among the 'pans'there's some debate as to what he was; Pantheist, Panentheist or Pandeist?well in my reading he would seem to have been a Panentheist as he seems to have held that the universe was animated by an external,to the universe, Force.
Viva la Bruno!
Thanks for this. Who are you?
You’re welcome Kenneth. I’m an independent researcher of philosophical mysticism and this is my baby project Seekers of Unity where I’m taking people on my journey of discovery together with me. Welcome to the family :)

Hmm others who tried to convert the pope... I seem to remember Abulafia doing something like this and only being saved by the fact that the pope died while he was on the way.
Correct 😉
Nicely done!
This reminds me of my life too. I've gotten in trouble in several jobs bc I'm too candid. I complained a lot mostly how the work place could be improved w inexpensive fixes. I complained about any unnecessary work or inefficiencies. No doubt behind my back many people didn't like me. In my last job i was bared 1 day from entering: no one, not even my boss, told me y.
Typical apologist behavior of the Church. If Christ was alive today they would burn him at the stake too.
While Bruno wanted his philosophy to be remembered, we remember his death, but how many people really remember his philosophy?
It's kinda fascinating that his most dangerous idea is very near Lovecraft's cosmicism 🤔.
We don't talk about Bruno, oh no, no. 🎵. Did I just stumble on something?
Peace love life.🙏
Did you actually just say maybe it was justice? Omg, you actually named the chapter "maybe they were right" haha
