Real seekers? Why do you spread your filthy lies? He was burned for heresy, not for science. Reincarnation, pantheism is not science, but filthy heresy. He deserved it.
I've been fascinated with Bruno since I was a girl and read a quote of his about the nature of the stars and possibility of other worlds. I don't think he returned to Italy for just one reason. He hinted many times that he thought the fire was his fate. Perhaps, he wanted to challenge a church that had hounded his footsteps for far too long. Perhaps, he had grown tired of running. I do not agree he was arrogant as some think. I think it was just the opposite. I have wondered, at times, if he wasn't a wounded soul trying to find union within himself. Mystics live by a different set of rules than most people and Bruno definitely was a mystic. I agree, he was looking for a holistic worldview.

Carlos, what would you do if Bruno were to be alive today? And what if he has continued with his work from where he left off, but with having over 400 years of scientific enquiry at his disposal? What if one of the things he is espousing is the unified field? And another, dispelling Darwinism?Would you want to join forces with him?

I am very fond of Bruno, and your interpretation is very appealing. Perhaps Bruno had such a deep level of understanding, and such a detachment from his own physical survival, that he freely chose martyrdom. I wish that was true, but I somehow doubt it. Bruno is so wonderfully arrogant, he might truly think that the Inquisition cannot fail to finally recognise his genius. Or, after seeking and failing to find worthy students or even colleagues, he decided that the game was no longer worth the candle. The latter is my guess, but I'd like to be wrong.
