    Artist: Megadeth
    Album: Rust in Peace
    Released: 1990
    Genres: Progressive metal, Metal, Thrash
Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" is the opening track of thrash metal band Megadeth's 1990 album Rust in Peace. The song has an unusual structure: it opens with a fast thrash section, shifting at 2:26 after an acoustic bridge by Marty Friedman to a different, slower and heavier section called "The Punishment Due", interspersed by two guitar solos played by Friedman, before speeding up again with a third and final solo played during this segment by Dave Mustaine. The entire song is commonly referred to as "Holy Wars", with "The Punishment Due" referring to the heavier slower section.

It has nothing to do with immigration. It's to do with religious divides. The second part after the acoustic solo is The Punishment Due, which is based on The Punisher comics

I just googled "best metal album of all time" and it is on the Loudwire list on 33 and in the Rolling Stone list on 19. I would consider that a good measure. So apparently you're just a troll or an oblivios metalhead.

@Cobb Knobbler Perhaps you should expand your circle of people or learn more about metal? I've been a metal-head since 1977 and there are a lot of good metal songs by a lot of really good bands and each one deserves praise, but "Rust in Peace" is in fact one of the top contenders for best metal ALBUM of all time. It's certainly fun to debate what number one actually is, but you can't exclude RIP from the discussion.
You can sub divided into classic metal, thrash, death, etc and come up with a different "best" for each category and that makes being a fan fun and interesting. However, I will stand by what I say about RIP.
And now you HAVE heard people say it's among the best.

@Jonathan M. On reaction channels, visuals are a must, when possible. At a minimum, lyric videos and/or live videos, with music videos a last choice because they tend to frame what you think about the song due to directors and/or producers putting their own spin on them. Sometimes, music videos are helpful to a reaction.

It also speaks against ANY killing in the name of religion. "Killing for religion is something I don't understand... Holy wars". The second half is inspired by The Punisher comic book.

Dave wrote Holy Wars after visiting Northern Ireland in the early 90s and witnessing the religious divide by catholic and protestant communities who were at war with each other and had been for years at that point. Those times were called the troubles and it was like hell on earth. Now though, things are better so that's where the inspiration came for Holy Wars and yes, that opening riff is SICK AF!

He was wasted on stage and said "Give Ireland Back To The Irish! Support the cause!". The crowd instantly split into the two groups and they had to be rushed off stage and out of the city in an armored van. That was the inspiration for holy wars.

This song is how religion is nothing but a mechanism for war , and a tool to commit atrocities.
I've seen them perform this live twice.

Love how y'all dig into the analogies guys, because with very specific metal songs, the pair an unbelievable instrumental attack with a freak of nature message, and those specific songs are gems. Perhaps for a unreal looks at a very very outside the box metal song, that's horror story based fiction in song format, check out Omens by King Diamond. You'll get A LOT of views and interest for that video

Dave Mustaine, lead singer of Megadeth, said the song is about the conflict in Northern Ireland between Catholics and Protestants, but lyrically it sounds like the Middle East conflict between Israel and the PLO. The song was written in 1989 or 1990 and isn't about the United States. The second half of the song about killings refers to the comic book. character The Punisher. The guitar solos are by Marty Friedman and Dave Mustaine.
