You're a washing machine wizard !! God love ya !!The Lord guided me your channel. Thank you, thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. You made it easy, a mouse had a snack of the pressure hose. All good in the laundry room after mopping up 45 gallons from the washer continuously running water. The concrete hasn't looked that clean in 20 years!

Hahaha! I felt the same way earlier today. When I noticed my washer overflowing onto the floor, I immediately turned it off and started “mopping” it up with the dirty towels that were on the floor waiting their turn, haha. When I saw all the yucky stuff I was wiping up with the towels, after I got over being grossed out, I had to smile because now I had a reasonably clean floor, hahaha. I also thanked God that I was standing right there when it started overflowing! Otherwise it could have created a huge mess and probably caused a lot of water damage, or worse, mold.
Now I just need to figure out which of the 5 potential failure points it is. But learning new stuff is good for our brains so it’s all good. My glass is full, and so is my washer right now, hahaha.

Thanks for the info! My home is older, but sometimes there’s a break in the community water pipes that allows sediment to get in and send dirty water beyond those break.

Thanks, good stuff, this is only the second time this ever happened in around 6 years.
Got in the shower and she washed a load while I was in there, it didn't even click until I seen your #1 Problem... lesson for the day, unless you have great water pressure, don't take a shower and wash clothes at the same time.
Was an older washer, at least 15 yrs old, but again, it's been years since the last time it happened.

Wow! Thank you SO much for sharing this info! I would not have imagined that could happen! My washer is ~23 years old. Plus I’m at the end of the community water lines so if there’s an issue with water pressure upstream, I’ll definitely get the brunt of it.
Now I know if the washer’s running, stay out of the shower, stay awake, and stay home. I knew to never leave the house or go to sleep if the dryer’s running due to potential fire hazards. Geez. Who knew convenient appliances could be so dangerous?

I love these videos. I have a really old Kenmore. I think it’s about 30 years old. I have been encouraged to buy a new washing machine. About three years ago the pump went out a replaced the pump and it continues to work. The current problem was, the inlet valve. I bought a new inlet valve and put the machine back together. I took it for A spin and it wouldn’t stop filling. None of the other events like agitation started either. I was ready to call it quits and buy a new machine. It was a struggle to take the machine apart, but I did notice that what I’ve discovered to be. The pressure hose was not attached to anything. I watch this video and it says oh it’s a pressure hose and it needs to be attached to the back of the tub so now I will, take the machine apart again and attach it. Hopefully it works. This has been a challenge, but I’ve grown attached to this washing machine. 😁

Thanks a bunch for this video!!!! My mom was doing laundry and all i heard was a bunch of "eeks, omg's and what's going on with this thing" from her before I discovered the washer wasn't responding to anything she was doing it and had she not shut the water off on the valves it would've overflowed. (Ik she said she hit pause at some point but that didn't work and it kept filling but the weird thing was that the rest of the lights went out that are normally on like the load size and the water temperature light selection wasn't lit up - this was prior to her shutting off the valves)
Im going to watch this video again and see if I can figure out what the dealio is. Thanks again! 😀 7:21

I have a top loader whirlpool. The cold water doesn't turn off. I have to stand by to manually do it, then shut off the valve at the wall. The hot works fine and shuts off correctly. I basically sit by the washer and wait for it to make a click noise once it's at the correct water level so I know when to shut it off. I'm guessing that limits the problem possibilities a bit. I'll have to open it and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for the helpful video. (And thanks to anyone that offers any helpful tips)

If the unit will not stop filling until you turn the water off to the unit then you will need to replace the water valve. If it stops coming in when you turn the appliance off then you will need to replace the pressure switch.

If it's draining as it fills, it sounds like the unit is siphoning the water out. Check the drain hose that goes into the standpipe. If it is pushed too far down into the pipe or taped to the pipe it could cause that issue.

All of this was excellent. However, the problem with the machine on my 2nd floor that created a catastrophe was not mentioned. The Water Level Control wasn't clicked in on the chosen level .. it was just "off" to the right. The machine didn't know to stop .. and it didn't. THOUSANDS of dollars in damage to the apartment below. Unfortunate - and something to be aware of and watch out for when in a hurry. BE SURE IT CLICKS IN TO YOUR CHOICE OF WATER LEVEL... nearby the choice is a disaster waiting to happen. Figured it out and it's filling and draining and spinning a wash this very evening. Trusty Kenmore and a user error.

be careful, I've had flooding several times because even when changing between settings, it doesn't make good contact.
But I have another problem - after it fills and stops, when it moves to the next cycle it will try to fill again, so sometimes it just completely ignores the level. The only way to stop it is to manually advance the program knob until it gets to a spin or drain cycle

You would still have to use a multimeter to test the pressure switch to see if it is bad.

  • @dannylinc6247
    @dannylinc6247 3 года назад +3

A reading of 0.00 during a meter test shows continuity with no resistance.
A reading of 0.L means over limit, infinite resistance, that means no continuity or not connected.
A numbered reading greater than zero is a measure of resistance including the test leads, their connection to the right place for the test, and the resistance of the part that has continuity In this example.
    Have fun.
Don't call for a special service call just yet if visual inspection shows disconnect or damaged pressure line.
    or a blockage exists.
Clear it by blowing thru it? Could be.
