Florida East Coast Railway Medley Lead in 2022!

The Florida East Coast Medley Lead is a five mile branch northwest of Hialeah Yard in Miami, FL. the source of all the northbound rock trains out of Hialeah, and also handles plenty of carload traffic. We catch some of the various yard jobs on the line as well as the outbound train 292 to Fort Pierce. Also, a neat Best-kept secret in Miami at the Cemex yard. The Titan America Cement plant used to be a Maule Industries cement plant which had largest kiln in the country. A bit of trivia, it was owned by the family of Mayor Maurice A. Ferré, mayor of Miami.

We used to have our own yard engine back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s when I was at the General Portland Cement plant on Krome Avenue south of Tamiami Trail. We were eventually bought out by Lafarge which ended up closing the plant along with several others around the country.
