Superb video and great to see East Rail & Downtown Spur still working. Loved FEC switching Trujillo. I do hope LM builds East Rail 2. Seeing this stuff makes me think I should build another South Florida layout.
I find it so damm cool that u could be walking by what u mite think ( just by looking at them ) are abandoned tracks , then a train might just show up . Awesome
really nice vid... i'm using your footage to get some scenery ideas for my layout, VERY VERY helpful... you can never make enough industrial lead footage keep 'em coming
Thanks! Glad these are useful reference for you. Miami is a one of a kind setting for switching layouts. The crews get puzzled seeing me out there sometimes and I make the point about this and the spur layouts that are out there lol.
great vid Tolga, seen some nice modeling ideas such as the sunken track near the middle of the video and the TBOX #889448 with those wooden wedges holding the doors closed at 31:44..
The ATW cars are owned by Atlantic and western railroad here in sanford, nc and the LRS boxcar is laurenburg & southern RR in Laurenburg, NC. Both are small shortlines. ATW is owned by G&W now though
I wish the Downtown Spur and East Rail fortunes would turn around and there would be enough business demand to warrant renewed rail service into those areas. Some new and busy shipper at the extremity of the Downtown Spur and more happening at East Rail would bring tears to my eyes. "Voodoo & Palmettos" is some of the coolest railroading anywhere.
I'm with you 100%. East Rail has some potential, and Downtown Spur I'd say west of 17th Ave but some areas are being gentrified into Wynwood style places.
South florida Miami Florida dangerous job but awesome video CSX frieght train and central florida coast line to Jacksonville Florida Melbourne Florida off us 1 bless you keep it coming friend 2021
Awesome job here Tolga! You know quite a lot about this area, and I love all the details you give about the switching operations, industries, time of day when they typically work, etc. I found it very interesting that they chose to keep a buffer car while they were switching the LPG cars at AmeriGas. Is a buffer car always required or just preferred by the crew?
*That grass and weed growth on the spurs would make me think that the tracks are used once a month at most. However, it was said in the video that the spur is used 3 times a week. It must be a Florida thing due to being tropical???*
Hello Tolga! Great job on this one, this is one of your best videos so far! Awesome intro too! Just a question: I know a lot about CSX, bit not much about FEC. Where is the best place to catch daytime FEC trains? I’d like to take a trip to see them, but I’m not much for nighttime railfanning. Anything inbetween 6am and 8pm, I’ll catch. Any suggested locations? Thanks.
Thanks a million! In SFL the Hialeah-Medley area will usually keep you a little busy between the early morning and noon. Traffic quiets down once 202 leaves but occasionally 109 is late or port train meddles around at 2pm. The lull is usually 2-4:30 where the 5am yard job comes back and sometimes they kick the 11am job out west.
Thanks for the quick reply man I was wondering if I got you a compilation of footage would you be willing to edit it and post it you don't have to shout me out so it would be nice of you at least put my channel in your description I just enjoy filming trains but I'm really trying to concentrate on RC content now I will be posting a video of 8102 but other than that I want to keep it RC but have some nice clips and if you'd like more I can get as many as you like since I live up by the Elkhart yard which as far as I'm concerned is the biggest classification yard in the midwest there's a lot of traffic through this area

Doing okay? Haven't seen a vid from you for a while. Do you have a date on my videos posting time? Hi, thanks for your concern. In general I am doing fine. Being a physics grad student first and a hobbyist second, I can only accomplish so much for the train hobby in the free time available. That said our collaborative project is in the queue but like this video has been pushed back for one reason or another. I take enjoyment in providing local content as well as those from travels and the like for the community, so sharing and putting out what I and/or my circles experience/opine on matter most. Thanks for your comment.
I like when the train goes on old tracks
Great video with detailed narrative. You guys make train watching from the convenience of my laptop a real pleasure.
Great stuff Tolga!! Love this type of railroading.
Thanks for the high praise! I agree single car switching is cool!
Hi Virtual Railfan
This is awesome! Switching videos are my favorite and I'm watching it now
Thanks! I like switching action a lot too!
I find this much more interesting than, say, a video of a huge intermodal train going from LA to Chicago on the Transcon. Thank you!
First time visitor thank you for telling us what is in the cars. Where they are from. And showing the industry in a satellite shot. Great touch
@@tomroise9426 thank you!
I love these videos. Reminds me of L.A. back in the day. Plus fec. Colors chrome + red. So nice.
Good job bro.

Really enjoyed this video!! Awesome effort following all these different trains.

Thanks Jeff! Its fun watching them switch!

@TolgaEastCoast At 12:41 is the train Y322 from Miami, FL to Downtown Spur, East Rail, Trademark Metals, Hialeah Yard.
Great footage especially details for us modellers.

What a nice, informative video. I just love trains.

Never noticed before but the FEC GP38 has horns on the long hood as well.
Yep, all 4 axles have bidirectional horn
Very interesting collection. What was the powdery stuff being hauled at the end?
Great vid, love all the switching

Thanks! Generally its a requirement when handling loaded LPG.
@@TolgaEastCoast good to know. Thanks!
That UP boxcar is old enough for scrap if not used for an older spur dock
Enjoying the videos, are you using the Hialeah street number system, or Dade County street number system to identify your location? Enjoy seeing home.
Thanks. Largely the Dade County system.
is Lance Mindheim in the house?...... now I can see the attraction in modelling all this..... great stuff, thank you from Vermont

Yeah plus the trains don't spend too much time on them. Sfl is really prone to vegetation quickly growing much of the year
Great video thanks for sharing

Is this the old spur that CSX use to handoff the Circus Train to the FEC?
Loved this.
Thanks!
Nasty looking track
FEC run propane on their locomotives with the tank car between 2 locomotives too fuel the engines
Any Seminole Gulf Action?
Well done video
Thank you!
Grupo de mexico fec is a Mexican owned company?
Can't you use a drone to fly overhead to see the switching that is as you say "out of the view of railfans"?
Maybe. It's a little tight but i guess that's a part of the composition.
Hi do you think ot would be better to link my channel or my best video? Because I am going to make a video go live 1-2H before your video.

Won't happen. It was discontinued almost 4 years ago
Early in the video looked like the back side of Opa-Locka and Hialeah
Geographically close. Downtown Spur looks just like it

It always amazes me that those horrible tracks can handle the weight of the locomotive, even the 4 axle ones. Either way, this is awesome to watch!
