    Hi there! Comparing this with the Arturia minibrute 2, wich one? Both are in the same category...I'm thinking buying one and I'm oscillating. 😂😂😂

      Hey! I’ve owned both the minibrute 2 and the 2s. This is subjective but to my ears the ms20 has the edge in its raw sound, just a little! The MB2 has the edge for its modern features, 64 step sequencer and it sounds great too. I think there is more flexibility with the MB2’s patch panel, I think you can use Arturia’s control software to change the voltage type coming out of it. IMO the MS20 sounds more beefy 😆.
      Basically, if I was looking for less features and a vintage vibe and experience the MS20. If I wanted a more modern and also brutal sounding synth with an ability to do more in the studio I’d go with the MB2.

      MS20 mini sounds better but the build quality / Key bed of the MB2 is way better. MB2 overall had more user friendly features plus eurorack compatibility. Buuuuut the MS20 sound is iconic so it depends what you want.

      @@caleblaughlin8351, because of the sound I'm oscillating. The build quality wins on minibrute, everyone said that. The korg ms 20 fs is another story...not in stocks, only pre-order and nobody know when is available...😂 😂 😂
      I can make a hack and buy a minibrute and map the ms filter. I had that from Arturia...but it's digital...the analog is analog...😂
      Thanks for reply 🙏🏼

      For what it’s worth I had a MB2S and a Moog Grandmother over the years. Sold both. Bought a MS20 FS and couldn’t be happier. I will never sell it. It “ticks all the boxes”.

    I was at the music store once, and there was this synth. I played around with it and instantly fell in love with the thing. Then I continued with the other synths there. After I was done I made up my mind about buying MS20 mini. I went back to it and guess what - IT WAS GONE. Someone bought it right away. This synth is that good. Eventually I ordered it online and it still never ceases to amaze me.

      It is a great synth! This is the 2nd mii that I have owned. I am ready to sell all of my other hardware synths and have this be the main synth. I still haven't mastered the patchbay and it still just sounds so good to me. A couple years back I owned a Matrixbrute and honestly I think the MS20 with its limitations is still a better synth sounding.

    Hey man, great demo! Like the way it's filmed, felt more like talking to people at the music store than the more normally dry instructions you see. Any chance you're going to compare the hardware version of this with some of the software alternatives? I'm curious if the difference is audible.

    • @toskabyss
      @toskabyss  10 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate that a lot! My goal is to explain the stuff I'm learning in the way I wish someone would have explained to me. I always need the ELI5 version haha.
      I am absolutely going to be doing comparisons. I originally intended to do that in this video, but the video was getting a little too long.
      I'm planning on doing a comparison of the iMS20 for the iPad. I am also going to do a comparison of the Arturia Filter MS20. Are there any software versions in particular that you are looking at? I'll try and include them.

    Hi, I have a Poly D, Behringer 2600 Blue Marvin, Korg Microkorg XL+, and my favorite synth is of course the Korg MS-20 Mini.

    • @toskabyss

      This is my second MS20 mini. The last time I got one I ended up sell most of my other synths (minitaur, prologue, monologue). This MS20 is making me want to do the same thing, find something that compliments it. I really want to get my hands on a 2600. How do you feel the 2600 compares to the MS20 in terms of sound. I've been looking at the full scale one like 🤤

    • @grafandsynthsagainstevilrobots
      @grafandsynthsagainstevilrobots 9 месяцев назад

      @@toskabyss I didn't have a chance to try the original or any other reedition of the 2600, but the sound is definitely analog,
      although slightly cleaner than the MS20 Mini. In my personal opinion, the MS20 Mini has a better low-pass filter and overall sounds much nicer and more natural. Let's say that the MS20 Mini is like an extraterrestrial life form, while the 2600 is certainly more robotic. I bought the 2600 because of the 'summer madness' and, of course, because I wanted to buy it. Additionally, the 2600 is much cheaper than a complete eurorack system, yet it still has around 90 patch points and the possibility of expanding with interesting modules in the future.

      @@grafandsynthsagainstevilrobots wow I love that!! The MS20 = 👽
      And the 2600 = 🤖
      One day I think I’ll get one! I’m currently thinking about getting something like a Circuit Rhythm or a sampler with a sequencer that I can feed MS20 patches into. I think this will combat that feeling that prevents me from wanted to disconnect a patch. I think that would work good on the 2600 too!

      @@toskabyss Recently, I have been mostly using Ableton, but before that, my main sequencer was the MPC Live OG. I enjoy creating samples with my synths and using the sound of my mono synth, for example, to play chords or duplicate MIDI notes and add an extra layer in the background. Any method that allows me to create, inspires me, and keeps me motivated is good. I like my DAW, but sometimes I want to go offline and simply enjoy music.

    • @toskabyss

      Unfortunately, no. You only get midi notes in. I don’t even think it will track the mod wheel (I’ll have to verify that).

    • @toskabyss
      @toskabyss  9 месяцев назад

      @@florinchelniciuc831 Yes! I believe Minibrute only have pitch, gate, velocity, mod wheel, pitch wheel and pressure that you could control over CC. However, I think you could have routed some of that stuff with the patch panel. But yes, MS20 is pure analogue, so you gotta get creative :(

    • @florinchelniciuc831
      @florinchelniciuc831 9 месяцев назад

      @@toskabyss, soo, tell me if I understand something : you can write some midi in daw. The sound that came out from ms 20 mini you can record it and tweak knobs in real time. No automation recorded. So,.what you do, that's your sound...never be the same and you can't make changes after recording. 😵‍💫

    • @toskabyss
      @toskabyss  9 месяцев назад

      @@florinchelniciuc831 That is correct! Say that you wanted to automati the cutoff the filter using an automation line from your DAW, you cannot send that via USB or 5pin midi. HOWEVER, I just dropped a video a couple of minutes ago that shows a workaround for this. If you have a midi controller with CV out, you can send automation to the midi controller and then send that CV to the MS20.
