    I have this kayak, and it is the best I have ever sat in.
    Very stable, and you can sit on that awesome seat for hours.
    The only thing they overlooked on the engineering side is that
    if you are alone, and need to carry it, say from your yard to the truck,
    is the built in handles on either side are not centered on the balance point.
    I don’t have a problem lifting the 100 lbs. the kayak weighs,
    but if you use the handle on one side and lift by yourself, it is
    front heavy and won’t pick up level.
    Other than that, I give it 6 beers up!

I've been through quite a few videos researching and yours is the best one I have come across from the customers POV. Not sold on this one yet, but it definitely moved up the list.

    I made slide fittings for my tracks myself. I cut 2-3mm off 25x3mm aluminium flat bar to slide in the track and then put a stainless M5 thread setter through it to sit in the deepest part of the track. You can fully screw 19mm+ M5 screws through any fitting you choose.

  • @deweylee2449

    Great review man. 1 tip is that the rudder is almost essential. I found that out when i carried mine out for the first time. The wind was coming from the side and it was almost to turn into the wind. I added a trolling motor to mine and did not put it in my pod like you see a couple of videos on. Mines on the back and i use the same toe pedals that you get will the rudder kit. I currently are still using the same cables also. I love my big fish and i think you will love yours also. Make sure you wire a power module control on your trolling motor and not use the stock speeds. You can go from barely moving to wide open at the turn of a knob. You can switch from forward to reverse with just hitting the rocker swith and still have infinite speed control. The great part you can get good one's on live for between 10 and 20 dallars. A very sound investment. Hey man let us know how you like it. Im sure you will. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

      Dewey Lee. I am thinking about doing the same configuration with a motor mounted in stern, also using the factory rudder peddles to adjust motor. May I ask what type of transom mount did you purchase and motor specs or some other info.
      Fishing Father: Your video is one of the reasons I am considering this purchase. I am also looking to add additional outriggers because my stability is the most important factor and I can't get a john boat. Big Fish 120 seems to be a fantastic hybrid.

    Great review. I think I’m going to buy two 120s. Quick question, do you think that my wife or 13 year old daughter would have a problem managing these boats on the water? Maybe the 105 would be better? The 120 is just another 1.5ft longer so I wouldn’t think it would make much difference. I would 9g course have to lug it around for them at 100lbs.

    • @TheFishingFather
      @TheFishingFather  4 года назад +1

      Great question. Like you said, it is only 1.5 ft longer but man I think it changes the dynamics of it all. I would believe your daughter may have trouble, nothing about gender but she may not have the upper body strength at times that this kayak needs. Even for me, I would prefer the 10.5 for ease of access and maneuverability (I am 6ft 190 lbs). However, every time I take the big daddy Cadillac out for a spin, I am in heaven. Hope this helps.

      Fire away. I have a 5.5 foot bed and i place the kayak dead center with the tailgate closed. I have to D ring anchor point to the rear of the bed on each side. I use a tie-down ratchet strap and anchor it to the two D-rings. I then cinch it down so the kayak does not move from side to side if I were to make a turn and it cant flip out of the kayak. Look on the three waters website for that. Another thing, Do not drag this on hard surfaces. I put a serious hole in the bow from that. I built a cart for mine to get it on and off the trailer. I give these kayaks a 12 out of 10 beer review! We use ours twice a week at least. You can easily stand up after 12 beers on these lol. I even made a mount behind the seat for my trolling motor. • @TheFishingFather
      @TheFishingFather  5 лет назад +1

      Hey! Good questions. The seat back, unfortunately doesn't come with any way to secure it flush with the kayak. However, with a bungee cord, you shouldn't have any issue securing it down so it does not flow in the wind. The straps sitting in the pockets are the straps used to tie down the seat when using it as a lean bar. it allows it to get nice and tight to support the weight of the fisherman!

      Great question...I should do a video! Overall I LOVE THIS KAYAK. I complain about the size when I need to transport it, but when I am on the water the size is what I love about it. That being said....I would opt for the 10 foot version if the heaviness of the kayak is a problem. I do not see myself replacing this kayak for the next ten years and the 1000 dollar price point is WORTH EVERY PENNY. Hopefully this helps, ask away if not.

    Sounds like a good kayak but I'm worried about it being 100lbs.

      That is a great concern. It is for sure heavy, and when you add more to it......its a workout. The 108 is a great option as well. Thanks for the view!

    Buyer beware: The track mounts are designed to not fit rod holders from any other company. You will be required to buy (make) an adapter for all of your accessories. Also every location of the tracks will interfere with your paddling and the rod your fishing currently if an accessory is mounted. But you will be charged for them eventhough 3waters is well aware that they will be of no use without a peddledrive. 👎👎Also 3waters doesnt even sell rod holders but they make you buy an adapter to put any other companys accessory on your boat

    Here are a couple more things 3waters screwed up. They stripped the plastic on more than half of the screw holes including the tracks and the seat. And the plastic is full of air pockets. Cheap and lazy.

      I settled on the pelican 100 catch. It was lighter and easier to lift and transport. I’m not as young as I used to be. The same reason why I use a deer sled or wheeled cart to get a deer out of the woods.
