I shit you not, playing as a healer on this fight's release gave me actual PTSD and I physically screamed "WHERE IS MY MP" at exactly 9:08 and I wince everytime I see anything cast Morn Afah and Ahk Morn
I can't repeat myself often enough. FF14 has some of the most amazing songs that I've never heard before in an MMO or in games in general. While a lot of games have great songtracks, the amount of variety in all directions to please everyones taste and fit right into the theme is something that I find so unique in FF. I played a lot and especially in MMOs, raided a lot. But FF does something with the music that just hypes you up. People who haven't played the game will probably never notice how well they sync the SONG with MECHANICS. This gives so much more intensity and also gives you a natural flow you can follow.
has anyone linked you In the Balance yet from the new alliance raid in xiv?? idk how well it'd pair with metal but it's SO DAMN GOOD. I'd love to see you listen to it
@@gunman292929 had someone say on my first run after the third wipe on the final boss that the theme was getting annoying and I told them "wdym this song is fucking amazing"
I progged this fight for like 3+ months, how did I ever start tuning out how much the music slaps? XDDD Super riff-able, awesome to listen to go ham over it!
Oblivion deserved what it got in Eden's Verse: Refulgence and Return to Oblivion deserves what you just gave it. You were right, it does melodically come from a different song, earlier in the game. There's an ARR fight with the original Shiva and that has a song called "Oblivion" that this is a sort of reprise/revisit of.
The ending notes right before the song loops also consist of the same notes as the beginning of the song from the first phase of the ARR Shiva fight, Footsteps in the Snow (it may not be the exact same notes, but it's absolutely a nod.)
Ah, nice. This one is my go-to. The fight is hard as hell, but you don't care because you just want to listen to the song over and over. It loops so well, it has those super hype "get up and move" riffs and those more chill moments to take a breather.
I'd kill for a rendition of "The Nautilus Knoweth". Casual nighttime vibe music in Old Sharlayan played with electric guitar taking a turn like a casual airship flight over the island.
Holy shit dude you absolutely nailed the solo part in your first playthrough - do you have the Echo too? (= the protagonists ability to see attacks telegraph as orange danger zone)
@@Keira_Blackstone I think it only explains why wiping in a fight isn't actually a 'real' conclusion but instead a vision of what could be, so we technically first-try every fight we clear!
Honestly it's because this song is, in terms of musical progression, really simple. All the depth comes from the production and beat. This is not a criticism. This I actually feel is a strength, and gives people a lot of room to improv for covers. I wish more people would do it. Also this is probably the best song FFXIV has had since answers.
to be honest, you can make an actual remix video where people could just loop it forever lol... or even upload to some official music stream... thought i am not sure about the copyright stuff on that...
This is also one of the hardest Savage fights in the entire game too, so there is that. It has one mechanic in it The Light Rampart/Steeped phase that just defies the difficulty of pretty much everything else before it.
Been catching up on these vids and I gotta wonder how the thumbnails are made/chosen because they tend to be very misleading. That said, incredible work as always, especially the improv at the intro!
The volume of your guitar made this into Guitarist Covers / Tries to play along from Guitarist Reacts. The main shamisen leitmotif not audible for 70% of first play where you miss it for the 1st part - until 6:35 and even the bg music. The lyrics also barely audible which are a HUGE part of the song.
The song helps keep the blood pumping as we do the fight. It goes perfectly with all the mechanics.
"Darkness.... BEGONE"

There's a reason this orchestrion roll is one of the most expensive ones on the market board.

sometimes theres little slithers of song literally yelling at you what you need to do. its great
3:56 and onwards gave me goosebumps, so good
That big grin just tells a viewer everything they need to know. Such an amazing song and then you're having a blast playing off it!
A year later, i still require a long version of this to live

Me (Paladin) and a friend's (White mage) first time through, my friend couldn't even focus on the fight cus he found his new favorite FFXIV song.
@@gunman292929 had someone say on my first run after the third wipe on the final boss that the theme was getting annoying and I told them "wdym this song is fucking amazing"
5 replays in I'm giving up and just putting it on loop. You absolutely killed it!
4:29 I saw that smirk you did before you hit that slide, that was badass.
The algorithm has blessed my timeline with many of your videos today. Enjoying the content.
This song PUMPS! Great shredding my man.
Great song!
I bet your gonna love the Endwalker tracks when you get to them! So many great songs to jam to!
I really love seeing these videos pop in my feed. This one especially is epic!

My god, ffxiv music is so diverse and above all else, so good. Soken is a legit genius. Your accompaniment was very well executed.

That’s a like and a sub my dude you are amazing!! I have listened to this maybe 100 times and you made it so much more!!
3:56 subbed instantly
Came here for the analysis, but that quick improv of Bad Apple was so sick I subbed instantly.
This song is genuinely one of my faves from XIV. This raid series has really great remixes of previous boss themes in general but this one is the peak

well played, i love guitar solos in general really much. you done well, i really have to check out the rest and your twitch channel
This slaps so hard omgg

headcanon

@@omegacloud222 Not just in ARR but also in Stormblood as Fordola gets the same ability.

I don't play any MMO but what i do know is that Final Fantasy always had iconic songs linked to certain bosses.
That makes it memorable.
Nice playing.
would not suprise me if we ever fight shiva again in a other shard that there would be a new remix (or music genre version)
