This fight is based on a FF7 boss so the fact that you pick out that link between songs is amazing. It's so subtle 👍
It's also a remix/rearrangement of an Uematsu track from 1.0 as well.
Yup, Its both a call back to the OG Emerald weapon from FF7 and bit to the OG Gaius fight in FF14 ARR .
All the while being such a MASSIVE BANGER
@@KikoKay-Kay There are also some none too subtle references to FF6 thrown in, with the transition of Gaius from being a giant boss monster to becoming FFXIV's standin for General Leo.
Well, shoot. Now I want to go back and play or replay old FF games so I can get all the references...

That's an amazing ear and depth of knowledge to instantly recognize the FFVII reference. The fight this is for is FFXIV's version of the original FFVII superboss, so it's 100% intentional as a reference for people familiar with the original.

Yeah Emerald Weapon goes HARD. I remember hearing it for the first time and going "EXCUSE ME???" do you know how IMPOSSIBLE it is to pay attention to a fight you're unfamiliar with because you're jamming out too hard??? Another good one would 100% be Ruby Weapon - it's another song in the game remixed, but.... well, you'll enjoy it a lot I reckon haha.
phase 1 ruby is a remix of Ultima theme, phase 2 is rise of the white raven which is T9 Neil van Darnus theme, it was hilarious seeing the dread from veteran player once they recognized Neil
Super agree. Fight mechanics and rocking out do not mix, as I have found out with the advent of Scream.

This song fits so perfectly, because the fight itself ingame is so surreal. Most music works even better with context in FF14

God, I know the song now, but I had to go find "Under the Rotting Pizza" just to hear what you were meaning; underneath the pizza song caught me so off guard and that was knowing there was a song like that for being under the crust in midgar. haha
Seeing how fast you pick these up is absolutely incredible. This song is one of my favorites in this end of the genres 14 touches and I'm so glad it got requested.
Jack, do that fight sometime. the only that goes harder than the friggin track is the fight itself. those bosses do NOT fuck around in ff14.

The best part of this track is that the fight starts with the heart of sabik track, then part 2 begins with that opening guitar with emerald weapons full form revealed. It's such a raw moment of badass
Killing it, Jack. Loving the content. FF14 doesn't get the credit for the amount of absolute bops on the ost. Limitless Blue being a personal favourite.

Yeah, this was FF7 - I remember some Knights of the Round material getting me through this fight
EWEX was legit the first most difficult trial I ever attempted with my friends.
We took the entire day to clear it. And we managed to clear it before new years.
This song is officially stuck in my head.

FFXIV has such amazing soundtrack, it’s just ridiculous how good it is.
If I could request a a reaction to a song, I truly believe that you and all your fans would enjoy listening to a song from an obscure anime called ‘The legend of Black heaven” known as kacho oji. The name of the song is “Let me go, Let you go” it’s just one of the most amazing song, the guitar riff and just everything about is fantastic. It’s sad that many people haven’t had the chance to experience the soundtrack.

On a slightly different note, the theme for the current final savage boss, Hic Svnt Leones, might also be up your alley if you haven’t already checked it out. It’s ffxiv metal mixed with castlevania vibes.

The whole story around the weapon fights also felt kinda FF7 ish. Very doom and gloom, sad and beautiful at the same time. Possibly my favorite optional content in the game. With the ivalice raids (and music!) raids as a strong second.

Dude......... I've got to tell you. I got SUPER sick with covid recently and was stuck in bed for about 3 weeks. I found your channel while i was sick and i literally did nothing but watch your content the whole time. As an avid FFXIV player, and guitarist/brass player of 20 years I have so much respect for what you are doing here. Honestly covid broke me down physically and mentally and all of your music was such a tremendous help while i was laying there thinking i was dying. It got me through it much easier. I really appreciate your talent please keep up the good work. I have my whole discord community just sitting around jaming to your covers all day now. It's a good vibe man. This was Takafumi Imamura, not Soken. The majority of new tracks in game post 5.0 were conceptualized and arranged by other members of Sokens team. He had his hand in the approval process to be sure but this was not his direct work.

The song is called "The Black Wolf Stalks Again". You can get a faded copy from the extreme version of Castrum Marinum, which you then have to complete with a lvl 80 alchemist recipe. After that, you've got it forever.
