Did anyone notice the Zenithal Highlighting make very much difference? Is anyone else here backing this game? What did you think the the glass visor, any tips?
Zenithal works when you paint with transparent paints otherwise it make no difference. Look at Ben Komets at Painting Buddha videos. black primer only because he use a lot of opaque colours. I wanted to back it but been waiting for Batman KS but so far I didnt back it so may get Nemesis anyway. Or Forgebane..... yeaaah Forgebane..
Yeah. sometimes it happens and I dont believe you dont know Ben haha. Anyway how the hell youre getting those minis befor release??? and please check my insta @ trollz_und_panzer. I follow you:)
I backed the game looking forward to seeing your work on the models. I was pretty excited about the dynamic of the game that we are supposed to be co-op but someone or a few people might be running a mission that counters us working together.
The miniatures are the main reason I backed this. The artwork makes it seem like the ship the game is set on has floor lighting rather than overhead lighting so I'm considering taking some scrap 40k models and testing what I can do with a sort of "inverted" highlighting so I'll have it decided before this ships.
hey man, just wanna say that this is an amazing paint job (sorry for the delay i'm just recently starting to look into Nemesis). loved the explanations, the painting and that you're very chill and relaxed with your voice. keep it up dude!
Thanks for the kind comment. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a message! Really glad you liked the paint job, as with most my work it was still a quick result! Hope you find some more videos on the channel you enjoy, there’s at least 3 Nemesis ones but this is definitely my facourite! Happy painting!
I actually used the zenithal highlights on my big boss zombie, which helped with knowing where the shadows were, but my base coat wasn't thin enough for it to show.
I'm wondering if I did the same, I watered the base coat down loads, but maybe still not enough, and then I did a couple of coats... so maybe I overwrote the hightlighting. Having said all that, I think my model came out looking really good, so perhaps it did more than I noticed? Or perhaps I just got lucky and did a good job. Keep me up to date with your progress with it, let me know if you ever find it works amazingly well!
It looks great on yours. The problem with mine was I used 3 layers of cheap craft paint that wasn't covering well before breaking down and getting model paint. In other videos where I see people painting over the highlights it is hard to see as well.
Very nice. Ive backed this. Hoping they stick 2 a double release wave ie base game sept this year the rest April 2019. The msin game was about 90% complete according to reviews and sources online.
I'm so obsessed with that fucking game!!! Best game in the universe. I gonna start painting too soon. I just hope I will be able to get results as nice as this considering I always sucked at the arts course in school. I want to start with this hobby, but I'm so afraid of failing 😰
Oh man that model would be sweet. It's still work in progress :-( doubt they have even a prototype yet. Sorry I should have said the choices are: captain, scout or pilot.
I’ll have a close look at the artwork. If she’s purple I’ll use purple. I think a lot of it is just purple lighting though right? Like the soldier looks red but it’s mostly just the lighting in the artwork :-(
Yeah, the artwork is a bit bland for contrast/vibrancy. It looks like the lighting and maybe the hair is purple. I love what you did with color here. Xereus Purple and Balthazar Gold could work well.
Hey Ryan! I am, I still have 2 more prototypes I can paint up, but with them being prototypes and me being an actual backer of the game, I'd prefer to hold off until I get my copy (which won't be until the second wave :-(). Having said that, if anyone on Patreon made enough noise about wanting to see another it will happen before that :-) On a note with the prototypes - I just went to have a look at the sculpts to see what I could do for you, but I dropped one I painted and a piece broke off :'( Just trying to show you why I'm not desperate to paint these, they may well not survive if I tried to play with them :-D
Right, I didn't think about that... I am a second wave backer myself and can't wait. Would be cool to see vids of you guys painting the actual production minis!
No problem, didn’t expect it to be something people would consider :-) just a funny situation for myself as an a backer too :D they’ll definitely be some production model videos too as I paint my own copy I’ll record it for you guys :-) Shame Awaken Realms won’t get my copy to me faster :)
Is the Machine Gun metal not available separate from the kit? Cannot find it anywhere..Any alternatives? I wanted ti use Gun Metal but it'd be too shiny I think...
No it’s not, but I think gun metal is the same colour but do not know for sure. Their latest kit tells you which are unique colours so it’s much easier to tell :-) they need a list somewhere!
@@WatchItPaintIt maybe it's the same but on your video it looks a bit darker/dirtier but that might be the screen... Gun Metal has been my go to for anything metal - always with a bit of nuln oil so I also used yesterday on all the minis where there's metal parts.
I assume this is the sundropped model, right? Would it also be possible to use simple contrast paints from citadel or speed paints from the army painter? Loving the look tho with the normal paints but I think contrast/speed paints would be easier for me as I've only ever painted the intruders themselves and nothing else :-)
Hey i’m backing the new retaliation game and i’m debating getting sundropped version and adding highlights or just grey and doing a full paint. I’m new to painting and not sure I want to put all the time into painting every part of each miniature. What do you recommend?
I’m old to painting and still bought the sundropped because it helps get a base level of paint on the minis and makes the game look nicer! It can be a nice easy way in, you can add what you want to the minis. Alternatively, it’s a good game to knock out fast. The aliens are relatively easy to paint and forgiving!
Great videos! By the way "Vallejo" is pronounced like "buy-echo" all together, just in the "echo" part change the "ch" sound for an "h" sound like in the word "he". Hope it makes sense and helps. Thanks for the tutorial.
I didn't prime these, as they came primed for me (sundropped tested I think). Yeah a few people have mentioned these prototypes are much more detailed :( I haven't got my copy of the game yet, I wave 2'd it :( but im not looking forward to being sad that the mini quality isn't great! How's the gameplay?
I did not (but really never do) notice if the Zenithal helped at all. That being said, it's helpful when painting as you get a good sense of how light would actually shine on the model. I've seen Sorastro actually paint using different colors based on it that I quite liked (it was for KDM). The visor looks fantastic btw! I've backed this as well and I've been planning on potentially trying out the gemstone Citadel paints (perhaps Waystone Green) for the visor. Will be interesting to see the difference! Of course the miniature and paint look fantastic. For the model itself, do you know if it's production material? Prototypes typically mean resin or a cheaper plastic, two opposite ends of the spectrum. I'm expecting some early Batman minis in the mail soon to paint but have no idea how close they'll be. This one looks much better than your early Monster Slaughter ones so that's promising!
Watch It Paint It - the finished minis are also quite brittle. It’s the first plastic ones I’ve had. I’m used to getting resin models. I’m not sure if there was an option in the Backerkit to choose as this was a (belated) birthday present. I expect a few snapped tails from the alien statues. I do look forward to seeing how you approach painting the aliens.
I got mine sundropped with the intention of not painting them :-O we shall see how well they look but yeah :-( I might not be able to do a tutorial on them
flintsteel yeah I went back on forth on the idea loads. I obviously like painting too, and I was mostly getting the game for the channel so it’s weird to get sundropped. But I figured the sundropped aliens had a really good chance of looking quite good and finished just with sundrop! And I’ll paint the Heroes better but use the sundrop as a primer/base. I didn’t go all in, just the minimum pledge plus sundrop for me
Yeah a lot of people have said the same, I find it a bit sad the prototypes were better quality! I would have thought that the quality would improve for the real ones
I did look through the other minis, and the Intruder ones are pretty awesome actually. The other character models are pretty nice as well, just the soldier that's bad. Maybe I just got a bad one?
Did anyone notice the Zenithal Highlighting make very much difference? Is anyone else here backing this game? What did you think the the glass visor, any tips?

I’ll check him out later. I watered down my paints tons but maybe not enough or did too many coats. Or it came out well and I just can’t tell :-D
Yeah. sometimes it happens and I dont believe you dont know Ben haha. Anyway how the hell youre getting those minis befor release??? and please check my insta @ trollz_und_panzer. I follow you:)
Prototype minis to spend hours making tutorials for! Nice getting to see them early, but it’s a long job making a tutorial :-(
I'm buying this game, I was wondering if the aliens and the heros characters would be painted also. I might paint my own, are the paints pricey?
I'm simple man, i just prime and paint all with one wash.
Looking awesome. Backed the game myself, can't wait
I backed the game looking forward to seeing your work on the models. I was pretty excited about the dynamic of the game that we are supposed to be co-op but someone or a few people might be running a mission that counters us working together.
Yeah I liked the concept of this game. I’m looking forward to playing it and painting it :-D
Awesome paint job! Definitely do more nemesis miniatures, I'd be interested to see how the scientist and adult intruder would look once painted.
D'oh, two sculpts I'd LOVE to do, but I didn't get :'( I think the scientist will be the first thing I paint when the real game arrives!
I also backed this game. I'm going to come back to this video when it arrives next year. You did a great job.
Yeah. It’s gonna be a long wait until we need this tutorial, but at least it’s here ready
I'd love to see more of this game figures painted
Good news, we’ve filmed another one :-) I just need time to do some editing
What an awesome looking game this is! Well done on the paint job. Very nice
Thanks dude! Just finished painting a third character. So will do a video soon :-)
Looking forward to it man.

Ooooh. I like this idea. Let us know how your tests go!
I like your style ! 😊
Thank you!

Every time I thought it was done, he grabbed another paint. Goodness that's some detail
You gotta try and use all the paints man. Don’t want some getting jealous of the others!

Did you end up painting your Nemesis figures?
Hmmmm trop hâte de recevoir tout ça 😍😍
et moi!!! :-)
You could try and break all those silvers with diffrent metallic colors. Some "copper" for starters or add a black plate here and there ;)
All great suggestions for everyone!! Hopefully I’ll keep these in my head long enough to try out next time I paint a Nemesis character
What are the models that you have? Obviously I'd love to see them all, but if I could pick one is love to see the bounty hunter and his dog!
Oh man that model would be sweet. It's still work in progress :-( doubt they have even a prototype yet. Sorry I should have said the choices are: captain, scout or pilot.
I'd pick Scout. Think you'll stick with purples for the theme?
I’ll have a close look at the artwork. If she’s purple I’ll use purple. I think a lot of it is just purple lighting though right? Like the soldier looks red but it’s mostly just the lighting in the artwork :-(
Yeah, the artwork is a bit bland for contrast/vibrancy. It looks like the lighting and maybe the hair is purple. I love what you did with color here. Xereus Purple and Balthazar Gold could work well.
Great tutorial! Now that the games is going to ship to most backers: are you considering producing more tut vids on the other characters?

Watch It Paint It hi there! Any plans to finish other characters?
Hey Grey, sadly I needed some money so sold my copy of Nemesis :-( unless I ever pick it up again I’m unlikely to add any more tutorials :-(
Where can I get the miniatureholder you used in the video?
Link is in the description and a discount code!
Is the Machine Gun metal not available separate from the kit? Cannot find it anywhere..Any alternatives? I wanted ti use Gun Metal but it'd be too shiny I think...

@@WatchItPaintIt Nope, not yet. Spend a lot of time painting Tainted Grail first. Now I need to find some time and energy for Nemesis :-)

Tutorial of Sundrop?
Where in Yorkshire are you from? I'd hazard a guess at Sheffield? ("Summat")
Haha. Spot on! You know your Yorkshire accents well!
What are you priming with? I have my KS copy and the model doesn't have nearly that detail. Think your prototype is really much nicer :(
I didn't prime these, as they came primed for me (sundropped tested I think). Yeah a few people have mentioned these prototypes are much more detailed :( I haven't got my copy of the game yet, I wave 2'd it :( but im not looking forward to being sad that the mini quality isn't great! I just got the Nemesis KS today, and the mini quality is nowhere as good as this. There’s very little detail.
Oh that’s sad to hear :-( this sculpt as a prototype is really nice! Although stupidly brittle

Nice ducking job. Can I say ducking...
I want you to paint my set. Please...
Hehe! I have do a few commissions for our Patreons :D a whole game would be some serious work :-)
The Minis you get with the Game , aren‘t near the quality you see in this Video... half the Details are Not visible...
Yeah a lot of people have said the same, I find it a bit sad the prototypes were better quality! I would have thought that the quality would improve for the real ones
Insta-Sub... great video
Wahey! Welcome :-)
The final sculpts are not nearly as Nice as in your video unfortunately. Much worse detail, very muddled.
Oh no :-( that’s bad news :-( the ones I have are really brittle though, they snap if you look at them too hard - so I guess it’s choose your poison!
I did look through the other minis, and the Intruder ones are pretty awesome actually. The other character models are pretty nice as well, just the soldier that's bad. Maybe I just got a bad one?
those minis are a shame, looks like it's sculpted by a 7y.o
intruders look good, crew look like shit
