Has everyone filled in their pledge managers? I umm'd and arr'd for ages about split shipping and sundrop :-( What did you guys choose?
I ended up split shipping, intruder pledge plus medic. Didn't see the point of the sundrop, I will have a go myself. :)
I was so unsure about Sundrop, but if it could save me hours and hours of painting, and I can just tweak them it would be AMAZING. But I suspect I'm going to be very disappointed.
I don't think it'll be too bad. I don't generally mind a slight drop in quality for 'minion type' sculpts - it's why i use quickshade on most of the Zombicide minions (like Sorastro) You might have a few touch-ups to do, but I think they'll be alright.
For me it was the wait time. Already looks like we won't get the base in September as planned, I'm too impatient to wait much longer! ;)
Plus you're right, if you can save yourself a few hours and just demo a few select sculpts on the channel, you'll have a fully painted game in a few months...fingers crossed! :D
Richard - totally spot on. It’s all about time for me, I spend so much time making stuff for youtube I basically never finish painting anything. This seemed like the best way to get a fully painted game and I’ll put what I can do on the channel for anyone who would like the help! I’m the same as you for the minions I just want them painted decent. So as long as the sundrop is decent I’ll be pretty happy! I liked Mechs Vs Minions and the minions in that were only shaded/washed. It was enough for me to not feel I needed to spent weeks painting them to enjoy the game :-)
I split shipping. I considered sun drop but some of them I really wanted to do myself.
Big up Benson!, love how the white-ish (if that's even a word) blue offsets and yet still compliments both the silver and the purple. Well done!
Thanks Rob, I'll make sure Benson sees! I think he checks his vids a lot to collect up the love :-D I liked his light additions too, I'm one for sticking real close to the art but I think this was a great extra!

This game definitely has an xenomorph/ aliens vibe to them. Also the humans look cool.
One of my main reasons for picking it up - I love Aliens :-D
Indeed, got to love them. I really liked the Bounty Hunter with the dog. I would be interested to paint that one for sure!
Yeah. I think that sculpt is my favourite too! Probably be the first thing I paint on the channel :-)

Long time fan here :) Next RS painting will be starting soon and then a new one from a game I've not done yet. I can never keep up with WIPI's output, the man's channel is a machine!
Nice result. I've never painted a mini but watching your videos as well as King Of Average makes me want to get into the hobby. I just wish there was RUclipsrs using cheaper paints to see how good of a result you can get with a more inexpensive product like Vallejo. Most use Citadel followed by Army Painter, and then probably Reaper.
TechnicolorSprite glad we can inspire you! The paints may seem excited but you use so little of it, it lasts a long time :) The reason they cost as much as they do is also due to their unique consistency. Using tube paint and the like will be much thicker, and sufficiently watered down it wouldn't give consistent results.
If you do end up painting one of love to see it! I'm sure everyone here would also be more than happy to answer any questions you might have :)
Thanks dude! Ooooh, totally give the hobby a try, you can get started with a very small set of paints, I started by spending about $20 to get going and find out if I liked it :-)
I've actually got some very cheap paints, but there's so little point in using/getting them, they are harder to work with, and much harder to store, 1 of those tubes takes up as much space as 10 of my Army Painter bottles. They are a little expensive to start out with but they last sooo long, I've been painting towards 2 years, I've never run out of a single colour yet - even black that I use ALL the time, and have spilt tons out of twice. Paint brushes can get some serious use out of too, I've only just started replacing my original 3 Army Painter ones.

I went the intruder pledge, with all gameplay add-ons. opted out of the sundrop as I will be zenithal priming with my airbrush and painting them anyway. I can not wait to get the game.
Oooh nice! I only got the core. It looks good but games are so damn expensive:-(

Luckily my wallet and worse the space in my house is really limiting what I pick up recently - kinda sucks when you have a painting channel and would like to help as many people as you can get into our hobby! :-D is space not an issue for you? My wife and I are so jealous of all your American houses. You guys have more storing spare than we having living space :D
I'm pretty sure at this point, I need more shelves for the Kickstarters I'm waiting for unfortunately. otherwise I may have to start selling some. I'm more looking at this as an investment for the future. games to introduce future family and what-not.
I wonder how you will paint Lilly (the Scout) when you will receive your game from KS. I just watched unboxing on crabbok channel, and... man, I can't wait to get this.
Her hair isn't purple, it's dark blond or light chestnut. Armour/catsuit isn't purple either, it's almost entirely metallic. Only light is purple in this drawing. that's why scout (her name is Lilly BTW) looks, well, purple. :D
Ahhh man. We discussed that we thought it was all lighting before hand. And searched and searched but I couldn’t find any art that showed it better :-( also I didn’t know they had names!!! Where did you get the info? Am I blind? We got 2 more to do and would be better with more info. Thanks for letting me know man
You're welcome. :-) Every character card has leading color - it was design choice made for better identification on the table, but it definitely isn't painters friendly (if you want to be faithful to artist's concept obviously). Perhaps artbook and custom action cards will have more characters artwork? I really hope so. No, you aren't blind. Lilly is a name made by me, because I don't like idea of nameless heroes. IMO Lilly fits her perfectly. She's is my favourite character in Nemesis. She's such a badass chick that every man would like to have as a friend. ;-)

Just FYI all three of us recommend the tool. I don’t use it on camera myself as much anymore because it gets in the way for filming. But I seriously notice it’s not there now :,( it isn’t cheap, that’s my only negative for it really, but if it doesn’t break your budget I think you will find it very useful

Overall she looks great, my fav Nemesis character, but I needed to go 1080p to see the face. What happened to her eyes? Is that a mold defect? I'll stay with Sundrop
Haha. Funny I was just holding this mini earlier too and was thinking the same! The eyes are pretty dodgy square on. But I think it’s a combination of the sculpt, difficulty to reach the inner eye and perhaps a slight miss during painting. All adds together to look a bit dodgy close up!
I saw your painting videos about nemesis. Great job but,.... what its wrong with the scout eyes? It have all the miniatures the same problem? Keep the good work!.
Prototype models I hope. They are a bit misformed :-( and I think Benson missed slightly, so combined they look a bit dodgy! Thanks though
What kind and size of brushes did you use for this?
Benson used a whole bunch but nothing very big at all. Mostly detail and insane detail sized brushes

I've been meaning to ask. Why do you always do speed painting. Could you upload a time lapsed video of a more detailed painting?
You mean like one that you skip forwards in chunks? Show a bit of one colour slow and careful and then bounce forwards to the next bit? I’ve tried and thought about doing it a few times but it’s actually much harder to edit and every time I’ve talked about it a lot of people mention they like my speeded up / see it all videos. I could try one and see what people think? But ultimately they’ll take longer meaning less content - which is worse to most people? I think
Do you ever spend longer than 1 hour or so? Whats the longest you've spent on painting a mini?
Yeah. Normally when I don’t bother putting the time on the video it means it’s over 3 hours and I lost track. I know the poison dragon was over 4 hours for me. I think Ignos was a long time too. Off camera I think I actually spend longer too, throwing more time at models with the camera in the way I don’t think would up my quality much :D what’s the longest you’ve spent on a model?

That's one of the nicest painting of the scout out there (and the only tutorial on youtube) So thanks for sharing your experiences.
My biggest disappointment is that the sculpt is based off a image in the concept art where she is half shaved, and the symmetry of her face is no where close to the portrait on the player board. Quite disappointed frankly with this figure.

Just base level for me. But this will be the last KS i ever do from the publisher. How they handled lords of hellas KS was so bad :( I didn't cancelled my pledga for nemesis because i would loose money. And the sundrop IS HORRIBLE i wished i didn't back at the lvl where sundrop was included for lodrs of hellas !!!!
I've had similar stories/comments from a LOT of people, little worrying, especially as I did add Sundrop :-/
It's kinda the same as you spray the model at an angle with some white primer to create shadow on the model before you paint but it's really done in blobs and really inconcistant.
So it is massively far from the pics they show? It’s just zenith highlighting? That would be fairly disappointed. I could do that in about 10-15 minutes for $10 of primer
Yep it's kinde like that indeed. Not worth getting in my opinion. Atleast you don't need to prime the figure if you gonne paint it, well thats what they claim.
