- In this video I paint the 4th member of the Nemesis crew - the scientist. This is a Kickstarter game, Nemesis - a 4 player semi-coop horror survival game.

Really enjoyed this. I'm a beginner and so far this guy is giving me the most trouble of all the character models. It doesn't help that I gave him a white lab coat and used a brownish wash/shade on him. It looked cool on the other figures but this guy just looks filthy.
I'm learning, but Level 2? Highlighting his bootlaces and glasses? I didn't even realize there were laces on his boots. Looks like I've got a long road ahead of me.😬

Really appreciated the tutorial for glow effects in this episode! I really enjoyed the choice of light reflecting off of the glasses (reminded me of Gendo from Neon Genesis Evangelion) - evocative!
I’m interested to know how you got into the hobby: did you start playing games with minis and decide to paint them up? Did you decide to paint minis and try to find games that had models you like? Was it a mix of both? What was your gateway game, if applicable?
Neon Genesis is EXACTLY what inspired this :) I can't believe you guessed that! As for your question - I played battletech and D&D for years as a kid. My friends always painted their models, but I honestly thought it was a waste of time. Then years later Star Wars and D&D had boxes of pre-painted miniatures you could buy - I bought a bunch of them and got used to having painted minis. Then one time I went to a conference for work and someone brought the original Zombicide and showed me how to play, and I learned about Kickstarter ;) I bought every version of Zombicide - and one of my old friends, who I scoffed at 25 years ago for painting his minis suggested I try painting them. I don't know why but I thought "what the hell". I painted a few zombies and when I finished I thought "omg that was fun..." and was instantly addicted. And I've been painting every day since - and I'm just as addicted as the first day I tried it.
Heroes & Bosses Amazing we were on that same wavelength! Zombicide Black Plague was my gateway game - something about the zombie sculpts really inspired me to want to go paint!
You mentioned Kickstarter - do any of the games you’ve backed particularly stand out? How often do you play the games you have? Which games (if any) haven’t been played yet? :)
@@CumulusKnight Black Plague (the best Zombicide) and Massive Darkness got the most play, but Kingdom Death Monster is a close second. It is the best board game I've ever played. Green Horde I haven't touched - it's the one KS I regret. How about you?
Heroes & Bosses I came into a bunch of games all at once and am still working through painting them but if I think about the game with minis I’ve played the most is old-school Hero Quest!
I’d love to hear your thoughts about Kingdom Death - what makes it the best?
@@CumulusKnight Well, KDM is unfortunately very expensive - but that aside - it's unique for many reasons. The world that it exists in is completely original - it's almost like being in a nightmare world. When you get into a battle, you never know if it will be your last - the game is quite hard. The enemies all have their own A.I. deck - so that every time you fight them they are different - and their deck expands as the game progresses. At the same time you are building a civilization and you choose which types of technology you want to spend your resources on. Each character has their own experience and list of benefits and penalties gained from events and combat. It's kind of hard to describe - since I have no other game to compare it to :)

You're welcome! I will br doing the last 2 heroes - I'm working on some other stuff first so it might take a few weeks for the video
