  • I've wanted to make this video talking about a large range of things that have been on my mind for some time now but time is always a constraint for me and videos like this don't really gain much traction. Regardless I thought this would be an opportunity to share some of my thoughts and get feedback from anyone that watches it. I hope this also provides some insight into how I make money on the channel and what I do with it.
    Shoutout to ‪@Nicktechnoo‬ for his honest video I mentioned in this video and check out his ‪@VicariousNickk‬ channel as well!
    Thank you to ‪@TheNetGuy‬ for helping me setup my amazon influencer account over a year ago as it's helped me save more money towards my investments.

    Holy Smokes, THANK YOU so much Steve not only for your kind words/shoutouts but for your understanding of my situation and for your feedback/thoughts on it.
    1.) My god the selling items on facebook marketplace stories are SO accurate to how it truly is. You put a almost brand new $600 item for sale at $300 and people will be like "Yo will you take $40? I'll pick up today!" Or you get people who seem legit and the day comes to meet up and the ghost you.... I hate it so much. Lately I have switch to Ebay which has it's own issues and fees but at least I don't have to meet up with weirdos lol
    2.) Breaking even at the end of the year with all the stuff you purchase for videos is next to near impossible for channels the size of yours and it's so true. Not only that, but tax season is HORRIBLE for content creators and for youtubers when you have to go back and find every little thing you purchased throughout the entire last year that went towards your channel. It can be... taxing (haha)
    3.) The companies that send every medium to small tech youtuber emails wanting to send free products has become such a scam way of doing business. It costs little to nothing for them to send the youtuber a free item but they expect to gain $100's if not $1,000's in sales from those free "review" videos because they know that buttering up the youtuber and giving them free stuff is gonna lead to positive notes in their videos and hopefully they will even post for free on their social media accounts.
    The sad reality is that some of these companies now EXPECT you to do all of these things just to get a free product (and no extra no payment involved). They want you to lie in your "review" to make the product seem better than it is. They want you to spread it all over your social media. And they even want your videos to be a certain length or to create multiple videos... it's insane. But the more this industry grows the more youtubers they will take advantage of and I sadly was one of them.
    4.) In the end, as a content creator just do what YOU enjoy and have fun with. I do love tech and always will. But reviewing it has just become such a money pit for me (unless I agree to accept these review units from possibly scummy companies) that it's not actually fun anymore... I used to buy tech to test it out and to see how it works inside and out. But now I buy it trying to figure out what kinda videos I can make on it... which in the end turned out to not be as healthy for me and my hobby.
    So that's mainly why I decided to switch more to streaming and doing gaming content because I can just be myself. Play some games. And interact with a community while with the tech videos I never truly felt like I had a community waiting to watch my next video. I just sorta had to pray that each new video would be pushed out in the algorithm. Thankfully now that's a mindset I have left in the past and now I just make content when I WANT to and it's content that I enjoy watching as well as making.
    So if you (and any other creators reading this) can agree with that last statement for your own channel, then you are doing it right! Keep at it and you will become a full-time content creator (if that's your end goal). I just know it!
    Much love again Steve and thank you again for this video!! Super interesting to hear your views and thoughts on the entire topic at hand!

      My pleasure Nick! I hope the gaming side continues to grow for you as the grind of the tech reviews can be brutal and burn out happens often. I'm stoked for Subnautica 2 and taking a little break to go back to gaming once it hits early access. I have more products reviews coming down the pipeline but I'm compelled to make a video on the products I get offered and how it makes zero sense to make those reviews or videos.
      Thanks for watching and your video was the catalyst for me making this one so I appreciate your honesty in that one!

    Just wanted to thank you for all your reviews. They are really on point and go deep into things most people dont talk about because of all the shiny stuff in your face. I hope youre doing well too. Being a RUclipsr can be a bit daunting too as youre fighting over a large pool of people. Its a marathon, not a sprint.

    Its good stay grounded. The only thing as a content consumer of yours that I personally care about is for things you produce to be as honest as possible and stick to that no matter what. Some big youtubers whom I would personally look to for ideas like GamersNexus or HardwareUnboxed both have such stellar reputations that they can actually profit from sharing their opinions. Could you push merch more? You would be surprised at what some people spend on youtuber merch.

    Loved this ! Amazing frank discussion about being a smaller content creator. Honestly I found you through the Subnautica content and I loved the detail you went into covering all that development. You mentioned towards the end of this video that Subnautica was one of the factors of the channel growth. If you happen to read this would you say that this helped your product review side of things grow?

    • @1UpNerdcore
      @1UpNerdcore  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think the initial attention on the channel from my Subnautica vidoes definitely helped the views on the tech reviews but it slowly outgrown all of that. I'm hoping for more growth and a break from so many reviews once the next game hits early access.

    This was really insightful, thank you. I found your channel about 7-8 months ago when I was looking for PS5 videos. I like that you go into details, makes your videos more informative. Hope your channel continues to grow and do well.

    I just found your channel and its funny how I am going thru the same thing, I have 55k subs and my channel is dying, its been like that for about 3 years and I can't figure out the algorithm, its very frustrating and discouraging but I keep making videos hoping one day my views increase like it used to be. By the way im subscribing, don't give up brother.!!

      Thank you! It’s crazy how many people it’s happening to with the algorithm changes. I’m finding your channel so I can sub also!

    I haven’t watched the hole video but I will say there I can feel that pain of putting so much work on a video and not even get close to the goal 😢but like I say in the past I watch your videos in the shadow for long time now man and if you ever want to do gaming videos or streams I will be there stalking from the shadows 😂 may sound bad but you are a great content creator bro. Being honest say a lot from who you are.

    When I found out I had high blood pressure they put me on Ramipril - it’s like the most used blood pressure pill - I was 20% of the 20% that had a severe reactions…I almost jumped out of a 3rd story window! So watch out for changes and feelings

      Whoa! I'm on an ARB right now but it isn't doing much. Calcium channel blocker has been the one with the most benefits so far but it made me extremely exhausted so I had to get off.

    I was shocked when i saw that your videos have around "only" 400 views. On the other side, i only checked your channel by clicking through my subscribed channels manualy. So none of your videos showed in my home screen. Algorythms are realy bad for smaller channels these days.

    • @1UpNerdcore
      @1UpNerdcore  6 месяцев назад

      Yea it’s rough for smaller channels right now but even larger channels are suffering. TechteamGB has a large subscriber base and his videos are only getting a couple thousand views on some of them when he should be getting hundreds of thousands.

    Have you tried grounding yourself that is huge along with meditation there is grounding sheets or pads I would like if you could do a session on that I have been dealing with lung cancer so I think that might help me

    • @1UpNerdcore
      @1UpNerdcore  7 месяцев назад

      Sorry to hear you've been dealing with lung cancer! I used to have a grounding sheet for me bed. I ground often by going barefoot in my yard and when I do natural movement sessions for training.

    Im sorry but your friends channel has greeted me with a boring and bland steam deck comparison video,no edits no specs on the screen,no beatifull background or some videos that will get my attention...just a 30min boring talking session same as this video? dont get me wrong but i am an average youtube viewer and this is not the content we consume,you made this video like talking to a friend which is completely wrong if you want to grow the channel because people dont actually care about you,they want data and usefull info about products as quick as possible.
    Look at the "monitors unboxed" or "hardware unboxed".... sorry for my rant but this is the cold hard truth..good luck stranger

    • @1UpNerdcore

      And yet here are you watching it for some reason 🤔
      The best part of making content is you can make it how you want. By your metrics TechTeamGB who has almost 100k subscribers would be crushing views with every video and he’s not. I make content as I see fit and the good news is I’ve just paired with ASUS who likes my long format videos because no one else does them with the detail I do. So my style has payed off.

      @@1UpNerdcore yeah for the first 3 minutes...you where talking about how your friend gets no views,im telling you why its his fault and not the "systems" ...
      i watched 1 techgb video about 7600xt,boring slow going video with no sections that separate it,am i going to watch a 30s section that compared 1440p frame rate in fortnite?? 0 knowledge about what viewers actually want and it shows at his views,he has amazing thumbnails tho makes me wanna click but not stay for the content
