- Become the president of your traffic with this guide of Traffic Manager by ConflictNerd and LinuxFan. In Part 1 they look at the first 6 tools Switch Traffic Lights, Manual Traffic Lights, Lane Arrows, Lane Connector, Despawning, and Clear Traffic.
CAUTION: As a very demanding mod, it may slow down your game. With so many functions it is very CPU intensive, so please take this into consideration if trying it out for the first time. This, among many other contributing factors, is why these features are not part of the game, but rather an optional mod for PC users.

TMPE has to be at (or very near) the top of the list for my essential mods. It's such a powerful tool, and one which makes all the difference to my cities. Where my road-building skills fall short of getting it right, TMPE fixes it right up almost every time. Such a great idea from LinuxFan et al, and one for which I am very appreciative. This community is the best.

You know what I’ll love this mod to have? A lane specific traffic light. Meaning when you have a 3 lane road and you come to an intersection, the two lanes going straight would turn green as will the two lanes coming from the opposite direction. Meanwhile the lane making a left turn would be red until it turns green when the other two lanes turn red. To give you a clear picture, watch any car driving videos from Los angeles.

It has the ability to do lane specific lights if you set them up manually.
The traffic AI never has been very great. Traffic Manager has help enormously.

Fantastic mod. By simply removing traffic lights and making a few changes to lane arrows you can dramatically improve traffic flow. It's so satisfying to see the traffic congestion ease

As a planner I have to take issue with the traffic is like water metaphor. It been used a lot and it intuitively explains that you need to increase road space to deal with congestion. What is not included in the metaphor is the concept of reducing the water use (ie provide options to not drive), rather than increasing pipe size.
Sometimes we need to increase the pipe, but sometimes we need to offer reliable public transit instead.
One of the great, all time C:S mods that's a must have. It just is... 😏

Another good tip, to avoid traffic manager abuse and game lag. Is just swap traffic lights for stop signals. Click on a road junction and change it.
Paradox should just go ahead and pay this guy and add TMPE into the game. Must have mod.

I don't know if i should enable advanced traffic AI or not (because of performance impact). Which option allows to build bigger cities?
I have tried to run it for a few minutes and it doesn't seem to have changed much stuff on performance.
@@beechmasters9217 That advanced AI is so great it behaves just like real life and updates a lot quicker than the vanilla one! I even think my game is smoother with it enabled😃
@@beechmasters9217 I elevated my PC (which is a 3.5 yr old laptop) a bit so it heats less because the fans become more efficient this way :) which means my game can run better😃

Hi - if possible could you update the link on the video description as it points to the old LinuxFan version which is no longer maintained (there's a link on that workshop page to the current stable version).

The only issue is that Sony isn't really open to the idea of community mods.
One easy solution is to make free in-game purchases, which are the mods that are reviewed on this channel.
this is seriously one of the most important things that should have been built into City Skylines ... the "traffic sim" AI is appalling and for us console players results in bizarre attempts at controlling traffic with spaghetti solutions
I have a technical question about TM:PE if anyone might know (and I'm not very computer literate so excuse me if it's a ridiculous question)...
I play on a MacBook Pro (aka PotatoBook). Is there any single feature of TM:PE that is most labor intensive for the CPU to handle, or is just having the mod installed going to use the same amount of "juice?"
I've always assumed if I used the timed traffic lights, it would essentially cause my computer to self-destruct. Yeah? Or would I be okay implementing them in my city?
It's more about how often you use them to customize lanes/intersections/etc. Most of the issues are tied to how big your city is. The bigger your city, the exponentially more calculations the AI is doing with this mod enabled, which means the game will struggle to run properly

Does anyone know where I can get an older version of this that is compatible with v 1.8 of cities skylines? I bought the game a while ago but don't have internet on my PC to update so I have been using my phone to download mods and transfer them to my pc

Yes they are free.
The burning pc thing is that it uses a lot of cpu power and that's especially a problem if you have a low spec computer.
Yes all mods (through Steam) are free. To get to the Steam Workshop, go to the Library, then Cities Skylines in Steam, and to the right side it says "Browse the Workshop" (shown in the video at 0:56). As for "burning your PC", lower end PCs struggle with the base game, so adding DLC and/or mods can really cause further issues and crashes. I had issues using a 4 core CPU (Core i5-3350P), and 8GB of RAM with just the base game, so I upgraded to 16GB and it was fine for a while. But after adding multiple of the DLC packs, crashes started again after the Parks DLC was released, even with just the vanilla game/no mods due to memory leak in the game itself (as shown in my crash logs), so I stayed away from the game for 2 months until they released a few patches to fix it. I still decided to build a newer faster PC: I built a Ryzen 2600, 16GB DDR4-3200 based PC and no problems at all now.
Mods are totally free and available through the Steam Workshop, which is easily accessible through the Steam client on PC!
"Burning out your PC" simply refers to how much processing power that can be needed for some mods. In the case of Traffic Manager, you're adding a lot of new instructions to the AI already in the game, which requires a whole bunch more calculations to be done by your CPU. :)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work with the designers of this mod and bring it to console as an update. Just look at how Farming Simulator 2017 works...it allows user created mods to be on console. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

There is a setting that controls how strictly the cars behave your rules. You might want to check that.

What, the creator doesn't even know why he chose president edition as the name? I thought it was inspired by how all over the world when presidential vehicles are running on the street it would require government to manage the traffic with specific rules for that special occasion.

@6:26: THIS is the one thing that people COMPLETELY overuse in the game and causes even more problems to their traffic because of its misuse.
4:30 The AI is super dump, if you are give them 1 lane to go to 2 road, they will rather use that many arrow lane istead of 1 lane arrow and block the traffic.

This video shows some bad advice though. Adding more lanes usually only makes traffic worse. You usually want one lane for each direction at an intersection, and off- and on-ramps to remove/add a lane so that nobody has to get in the way.
