    I would never play the game without this mod. It makes the game so much more varied and interesting that they should probably ask money for the mod and give the game away for free.

    That was the first mod I've installed in this game. I remember it clearly: I launched the game, started the map and proceeded to building my first interchange. And then I realized that I cannot disable left turns on the ramps. I googled the problem and voila, 3 minutes into the game and I subscribed to this mod.

    I am finding this, and many of your tutorial videos to be on point to the sort of info one needs to know to get started with mods like TMPE. Also thanks for pointing out, in more than one vid, how to quickly select a mod in the settings...just little tips like that can save so much time for the gamer in the long run. Audio and video quality are excellent. Thanks for sharing!

    2:10 manual traffic lights are for pedestrian only. It's super handy to have traffic lights in the middle of the road, to give the possibility to cross the street. This way you can keep pedestrians away from junctions and further improve traffic flow.

      Wait, *that's* what manual lights are for!? How do they work? I've been using a mod to place a node with a crosswalk in the middle of the road for this!

    This is very helpful, I had not worked on a city in a month and by using the different features. About an 8% improvement in traffic flow after I checked all intersection for the vanilla lights, used lane connector and added timed lights.

    Turning the Parking AI on has another big advantage! Ever noticed your cims 'getting into'/spawning their cars after they get out of a tram at a tramstop? Very unrealistic and very annoying especially when your tramstop is near an intersection where they spawn their cars behind the traffic lights and therefore ignoring these traffic lights!! Turning the Parking AI on prevents that! (the option 'Prevent unnecessary transfers at public transport stations does something else) But like you mentioned you have to pay a lot more attention to parking spaces!

    I really wish we were able to change the settings in the options menu and keep them as a default. I always put the same stuff on every save file it would be really helpful.

    The yield sign section genuinely made me laugh out loud 😂 “ if you are a driver and don’t know what a yield sign is I’m about to enlighten you.”

    @2:55 the lane edit is miraculous and saved stupid IA from getting stucked into not allowed lanes or parking. espacially big parking mod. it took me several hours to figure of to fix that traffic issue. so don't forget to set lane directions, especially when you're banning cars or if you're using custom assets.

    TMPE is in my opinion easily in the top 5 must have mods. For me Move It is supreme. I have found your tutorials very helpful and I gain a different insight as well. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to the next notification.

      I am from Russia and a Yield is the default here lol. Stop signs here are only used if visibility is bad.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I realize that the only reason I've avoided mods is because they look so intimidating to learn. You made it look easy, so I'm downloading traffic manager now.

    I have been playing for 490 hrs., trying to learn all the MODs and I must say that this video was is the most informative I've seen thus fare. I wish someone would do a nice, slow, informative video on the CSUR Road MOD. The only ones I've seen are for FREEWAYS, but it's also for city streets........

    Thanks for this tutorial, YUMBL! Very helpful along with the timed traffic lights video you did.
    It’s funny that you enable allowing trucks to prefer the outermost lane. In New Jersey (and I think a lot of other US states) the state motor vehicle laws actually forbid trucks from occupying the left-most lane, even on highways. Not sure why; I find most trucks barreling down a highway as fast as they can go and often passing vehicles on the right because of this law, but that’s how it is.

      You’re very welcome! So as it turns out, the outermost lane means the right-most in right hand traffic. The TM:PE wiki specifies its so they will “...only venture in to the adjacent lane when overtaking. This leaves other lanes for faster-moving traffic, such as cars and vans.”

      Oh!! So I completely misunderstood “outermost”. 😂 I thought it meant center-most (outermost relative to direction of travel) rather than furthest from road center.

      No worries! I think (at least in game) it’s good to have on. If it allows fast moving vehicles to overtake big trucks then its a good thing.

    Nice video! I personally love what the parking AI does to the game. Initially, however, I was very confused seeing cars that randomly stop in the middle of the street "thinking about a parking spot" ...

    I played with this a bit, but quickly got overwhelmed. Hopefully, this has helped me get things to work as I want. :) I also have been having trucks and buses get stuck a lot at stops, or picking up goods. I think it is from turning the mod off. I do think playing without the mod did help me find ways to get my traffic better without the mod, so if I do get into it again, I still know what mistakes to avoid, and will need it less over all.
    I guess I am off to watch the timed lights tutorial, and see if those are as good as you let on, and make me turn to mod back on. :)

    Bad drivers are getting their mind blown at 7:45 HAHAHA As per usual, amazing video, Yumbl! Very helpful! I look forward to the follow up timed lights video, that is the one thing in Traffic Pres that has always intimated me that I have wanted to use. I do have general traffic light question that you didn't answer in this video, if you maybe could answer in the follow up one, how does Traffic Pres effect the "vanilla" toggle for traffic lights that is built into the game? I see that acting weird sometimes, where if I toggle it off/on traffic lights in the vanilla area, but then mess with it in Traffic Pres the vanilla game will still show a light, but then Traffic Pres won't, or maybe it's vice versa. Either way, there seems to be something weird with traffic lights that can be borked when you accidently use both in certain orders. Do you have any 2 cents on that? Should I just NEVER touch the vanilla built in game light toggle if I'm using Traffic Pres?

      Thanks dude! I think the toggle works the same. Weather vanilla or in TMPE. I used to worry about that as well bit nothing ever came of it. I do recommend disallowing automatic traffic lights in TMPE settings to avoid using vanilla lights entirely.

    Awesome video! Manual traffic light mode is 100% controlled by you. Got an intersection backlogged that you are trying to fix but need to get the traffic out of the way? Go manual and give that backed up traffic a green light for as long as you want. It's a timed traffic light but you are the timer.

    Here in Russia we have a nickname for the "main road" sign - a scrambled egg. Once I've heard it it never gets out of my mind whenever I see it while driving.

    I wish you mentioned that the vehicle restrictions were *per lane*, which means you could, for example, ban commercial vehicles from the inner lanes of a highway so giant semi-trucks won't block the highway for thru traffic. I used it combined with per-lane speed limits to make priority bus lanes (busses weren't respecting the brown lanes, but making those lanes 5mph faster in the bus lanes made the busses prefer those lanes)

    About the dispawning, I tend to leave it be, because apart from "helping" with traffic it clears the game from car glitches, that may appear quite often, especially with a lot of mods. Sometimes a car get stuck or turn into infinite loop for some reason, and then the game engine will despawn it after some period of time. Obviously, the game cannot tell apart a glitched car from a traffic jammed car, and if your traffic is really bad, then you'll see some people escaping it into the unknown. But it's not really that hard to prevent your traffic from being THAT bad, the time before cars are despawned is big enough. Even with enabled despawning I see car glitches more often, then despawning from traffic jams. But it may be due to some mods, so it's up to everybody's own experience.

    Have seen that U-turn thing in Hawaii, where you can't turn left but instead have to go to the next intersection and do a U-turn. It's the only place I've seen it.
    I wonder if lane connectors would be able to handle Melbourne Australia hook turns where you turn across traffic from the outside lane.

    I use foot bridges every where, keeps the sims off the roads so no slowing down or stopping traffic.
    I also add foot paths to cut through longer blocks with a crosswalk to the other foot path in lesser traffic areas or overhead bridge in busy areas
    Sims crossing the road will slow or even stop traffic.

      I also prefer the tram roads with trams in outer lanes again keeping the sims out of traffic, use crosswalk or foot bridges to get to the other side of road
      Sims crossing the road is a big factor in traffic problems
      Add crosswalk and auto add overhead foot bridges mods are great for these strategies

    Is there any way to make the traffic signals look like the one in the thumbnail?
    I thought that was an in-game screenshot of the "doghouse" style traffic signal with 3 regular solid lights and 2 (green & yellow) arrows. I'd be interested in learning more if that is part of the game/mod. If not, then good work on compositing the thumbnail in Photoshop.

      Yes, with steam workshop assets and a mod. Get a light pack you like, and use “traffic light replacer.”

    There are nearly 50 must have essential and fundamental mods for CSL that should be directly implemented into Skylines 2. Then a bunch of other ones that would be nice as well. Come on CSL2!

    Based on the TM:PE wiki, it appears that you can edit the Global Configuration, rather than changing the options with each city. Have you attempted this, and if so do you have an XML available for download somewhere that captures the settings you went through?

      I have not done either yet. I didn’t know that was an option. I only change a few things, but i’d love to have them carry over from save to save.

    Does anyone know where I can get an older version of this that is compatible with v 1.8 of cities skylines? I bought the game a while ago but don't have internet on my PC to update so I have been using my phone to download mods and transfer them to my pc

    Yield signs are replaced with 'give way' signs in Australia. Stop signs work the same.

    What if I will set the speed limit to no limit, will any bad thing happen?
    Other than that
    I am newish the game and new at the mod. I don't have dlc for different type of highway lanes, so I taught about I am using 6 lane one way roads as highway and 2, 3 lane one way street roads as highway ramps, loops etc. with no speed limit or as game equivalent to highway roads.

      Nothing bad will happen. Trains are set to no limit by default. Cars will be attracted to that road disproportionately though.

    I'm a big fan of your gaming! I've tried to use your tips. However, I've run into some problems. My pedestrians seem to ignore the paths I put down for them. Is that because I'm missing some mod or DLC?

      Thank you very much! There are no mods required for pedestrian pathing. They will always follow the shortest route to their destination. Is there a reason for them to use the path? Is it shorter than alternatives? Also ensure that it’s close enough to a road to be accessed. I hope this helps!

    In the US you xant turn into any lane you want you suppose to turn to the nearest lane then merge up the road

      Do you have compatibility report installed? This mod should work with all current dlc if you have the latest version.

    It is illegal in the United States to turn into whichever lane you want. The law states that in pretty much all cases you must turn into the "first immediate lane". The exception of course is when you have more than one lane turning in the same direction, but even in those cases the cars are restricted as to which lane they can turn into

      You are supposed to turn into the immediate lane, yes. But our roads also dont have a node system where you can only change lanes at certain places so I think some leniency is in order.

After watching your videos on the Traffic Manager mod and the Road Markings Mod I promptly subscribed to the latest versions of the Mods in the Workshop (including Unified UI). The Options included more decision points in the latest versions but I followed your recommendations checking everything you had :)

    What mod were you using for the roads and those nice looking bikelanes? What did you use for your diverging diamond interchange?

      The mod is “roads color changer ++”. The bike lanes are built into the roads, and the diverging diamond is made of highway roads. Thanks for watching!

    First of all thank you so much for your videos, they are helping a lot to understand the mods.
    Can the traffic manager help to fix the problem where cars only use one lane on a multilane road? This often occurs on my intersections and causes backup. For example I build a three lane road with a dedicated left turn lane and two lanes going straight. But they only take the right lane straight and ignore the middle one. The lane connector doesn't seem to help.
    I hope you can understand my problem, English isn't my native language 😅

      Thank you! Theyre probably choosing to use the the straight lane because theyre turning right up ahead. Just a hunch. See if you can add more connections to give the vehicles different routes. Thats my best guess without seeing it :)

I had a roundabout shortly after and made too much use of don't change lanes 😅 but since the traffic has increased a lot I changed the intersection from your Partial Cloverleaf to The Stack and it's flowing nicely now 👍 thanks again, you're doing an amazing job 👏🥰

      You have to subscribe to it in the steam workshop, then turn it on in the content manager in the main menu

    14:23 The Vehicle Restriction Policy
    I wonder in which category the hearses fall in. The are not in the SOS category.
    In my case, I would only allow Bus lanes to take buses and SOS vehicles. But it appears that Hearses cannot go to that specific lane and hence the dead person in the building right next to that lane never gets picked up. So hearses are not enlisted as SOS vehicles. Trucks or Garbage; I guess.
    Can you please tell?

      I believe hearses are SOS, but vanilla bis lanes should have no problem with hearses crossing them to pick up bodies

    The only reason I stopped playing City Skylines on my PlayStation was because of the traffic. I had a nice city built, but every time I saw people cutting in front of each other at the intersections, I couldn’t deal with it anymore!

    9:26 its still setup wrong, check the lane connectors at the left hand side junction, its not allowing turning out of the roundabout there

    Hello, Wanted to try this for some of the features I see! BUT! Why my traffic % dropped from 94 down to 83 jest by installing this? What did it do to my game? I un install and my cites traffic is back to 94% again! Can I use this without slowing my traffic down? Am new to the game and have only started adding a few mod's I found! Startup screen, Find it, Achieve it, and the Harmony dependency! If there's a way to load this mod without slowing my vehicle traffic down! Can you show this? Thank You!

Enquiringly minds would like to know! Why is it changing and how to prevent it! I can very easy to spoil my traffic flow jest by poor road management without a mod doing that for me! I see some awesome features in this mod but I don't like to go backward to go forwards! There's got to be a way to keep the mod from negatively affecting things from startup! Would you hire an old slow man for a production job? when you need young strong fast workers! I doubt it! Tho the old man has vast knowledge he still can't perform the task, Thus spoiling some part of production! I can't post my inquiry in Steam, Thus can't address this to the modders!     Have you done an updated video on this? You skipped a bunch of Roundabout settings. There is a scroll bar on the right to scroll down to more options.

    The reason I don’t like enable realistic parking is because the game doesn’t have built in underground parking for large skyscrapers, shopping centres etc so having it off kinda makes it seem like cars despawning when they get to their destination are simply driving into an underground parking lot.

      I absolutely agree! In a real city there will be many inlets for underground parking which cities skylines has not yet accounted for. I’ve tried placing parking garages inside buildings with mixed results. I would also love to see functional delivery docks for cargo trucks. There is still so much potential!

    23:45 - I'm a truck driver. For realism, turn this off. Truckers actually prefer what we call, "the lane of least resistance," on major thoroughfares. This means that we don't encounter local traffic entering and exiting the highway.

      I was thinking about this today actually. Coming home from work. I was wishing vehicles who are not attempting to pass or exit would stay in the middle (66w near DC). 3-4 lanes in one direction. If you’re going w the flow the middle is the best for everyone!

    You are wrong about making turns in real life. The Highway Traffic Act states that when you make a turn from a multi lane to a multi lane you are to turn unto the closest lane then change lanes when safe to do so. I this intersection you have tractor trailers making turns from turning lanes into the curb lanes and as you can see it causes other traffic in that lane to slow or stop. At 12:52 if you look at the left of the screen you will see that you have 3 road arrows pointing straight, in real life the right lane always turns right at the next intersection.

      ​@@YUMBL Not sure if legislated or just good driving protocol. May depend on jurisdiction. In Alberta, Canada it will cost you points on a driving test if you don't turn into the correct lane.
      Though for purposes of Cities:Skylines I wouldn't be that picky.

    Info to anyone watching this right now: LABS is not getting the newest updates anymore. STABLE is more up to date now. All BETA stuff is tested locally by the team. This is caused by a inactivity of the steam author of the LABS version
