All very cool. Very much miss the “everyday lawn guy” videos you used to do. Not many of us have room or a need for a golf course in our yard. But I do still appreciate your content. Some of it is still relatable to normal lawns.
I get this comment a lot so I think it's a good spot to address it. When I moved from a neighborhood to where we are now it gave me the opportunity to have everything under the sun at my disposal for the "everyday lawn guy" - plots of every grass type, irrigated or non irrigated, height of cut trials, shade trials etc and etc and I did all of that hard work over the last 3 years for the every day person to gain valuable knowledge from it. It seems like maybe some missed the point of that though and didn't see a neighborhood house out front and therefore didn't see it as something they could relate to. There's around 650 free videos related to homeowner lawn care and 3 that have anything to do with my golf project which has been a dream of mine since I was a kid and something I am doing for me. I can't make the old videos again nor do I want to make the same thing over and over again topic wise but it may just be time to move on to other things in general outside of video making. I appreciate you watching over the years and hopefully that old content that will stay there is something you can go back to from time to time.
@@ryanknorrlawncareI absolutely did not mean to offend with my statement and apologize if I did. I get the dream becoming reality, I really do and congrats to you for the hard work being able to make that happen. I have been an avid watcher of all your content, even your personal page back when you showed your vocal talents. My wife and I enjoyed your journey in establishing Westberry Acres and the build of your home. I hope you keep the content coming and my comment was just an observation, not a criticism. Prayers for your continued success!!! I will be watching!!
Ryan - I don’t think it’s what you’re filming, maybe more the equipment that is used, and like you called out, the fact that you’re on an acreage instead of a neighborhood that makes it “less relatable” to some. I’ve always loved your video style, and am here for whatever content you want to put out there. It’s free to watch for me, but it’s obvious you spend many hours on the filming and editing. It would be our loss if you chose to stop sharing your experiences and expertise on RUclips.
@@ryanknorrlawncare I like the cool equipment, lawn projects, reel mowing, drone shots, painting lawn mower vids personally. Only need so many npk videos. I will add that I'm a boring lawn guy, 10k of tttf/kbg. I use a timemaster, do about 5-6 granular apps per year, and that's about it
Great looking green! Also nice to see you have self created issues which you know how to fix. My late summer/fall was a grub fest as I put the wrong grub killer at the wrong time! It’s a journey- thanks for the update.
Several times I kept seeing the thumbnail for this and kept saying "why are Prodigy always showing up?" At a quick glance it looks like the cover to their album "Fat of the Land". Check it out, the green looks great!
Adding another comment to note about the clover. It definitely is not the most likely stuff to hang in there in tough situations, and I will also say to watch out for frost if you do try to keep it green into winter. But it is also surprising, it does come back. I had sections pop up in spring that I literally could not see signs of live or even dead clover that is how far it died back but it came back and thrived for a while. I don't think it is a full lawn replacement at all though but if you do tolerate it and not consider it a weed it can be pretty surprising.
Small plots are hilarious sometimes, I did an even smaller thing as had varied success, experimented with the grass types and cultivars heavily as well as the actual soil and watering practices etc. So I have a huge patchwork.
I bet you're going through allot of water to keep everything alive. The raccoons are also tearing up my backyard, I've been catching them and taking them over to the other side of the lake. The grass out at my shop is slowly coming around, I'll have to see how it looks after this week's rain. Take care and don't work too hard!
How’s the 72” deck cut for you? Least that’s what my eyes are seeing? I have a e series 60” and it’s 9 years old and now’s like a champ. Great to see a video drop as I’m in Iraq now and all I see is sand!!
What would be very cool to see is if you would build one of these greens into an actual green complex. Adding and approach, undulation, slope, shelfs etc. I've always wanted to see building a PGA style green complex is created. Just one man's opinion. Peace.
I’ve had the Hudson Star with my putting green for t a year now. It’s been a love/hate relationship. Needs constant adjustments and the cutting height is not consistent from side to side so I have to do multiple cuts and it can damage my green below .20” Also feel like it needs backlapped every 3-4 cuts so it doesn’t pull the roots out.
Ryan i am loving the content with your new place and the golf course you are building. For me there are already tons of basic average homeowner lawn care videos out there. I appreciate the content showing all the cool toys you have at your disposal now and all the fun stuff you're doing. Don't let the complainers about not being relatable to the average low budget homeowner get you down. There are lots of us that are going to keep watching no matter what sort of lawn stuff you're doing.
Hey Ryan, since you've got the space, any thoughts to test / review spray-on soil amendments (like humic / fulvic) and liquid aerators? Perhaps in areas where you already have poor soil or runoff issues? May be good to see real-world results over a longer period. Cheers
While watching today I thought I wonder when/if the P&O Nedloyd container would ever get a paint job and get the Ryan Knorr Lawn Care and Lawn Supply Company logos along its side along with a Westberrie and any other logos that may be appropriate.
I planted bentgrass in September. You mentioned covering your green maybe to kickstart it in the spring? Does that mean keep it covered all winter? Only when it snows? Once dormant? What are the pros/cons?
How’s the 60” deck cut for you (what series mower is it) Least that’s what my eyes are seeing? I have a e series 60” and it’s 9 years old and now’s like a champ. Has the series 3 or 4 deck and I know X series is the 6. Great to see a video drop as I’m in Iraq now and all I see is sand!!
Question.. I'm in Massachusetts,I did a lawn reno this year.. I am 6 weeks post seeding. I have some thin spots from being washed out. It was suggested to put seed down in mid Nov to fill it in and spring time it would grow. What is your suggestion?
So what would be the best way to improve your large fairway in front of the house? Order truckloads of compost and spread it out? Would it be too cost prohibitive?
Aerate and overseed drought resistant cultivars and let things continue to mature. Root cycling will improve the soil over time and hopefully we get out of this drought trend.
Wow, huge projects, very impressive! Question on the drought tolerant grass seeds, WHY are you trying to do Bluegrass/PRG mix?! Isn't TTTF is the most draught tolerant of all grass types? Why not using TTTF for those areas that don't get irrigation?!
Common myth. As a species it is but there are certain cultivars of others that are just as good or out compete it which is what I learned from my visit to Oregon. I dont like tall fescue in general and want the fairway cut at 1" so it's not a great choice for that from my test plots and feel under foot. It also is drought tolerant but once it goes beyond a certain point it dies off easier than bluegrass and doesn't spread so you have to overseed to fix it.
@@ryanknorrlawncareExcellent explanation. Thanks. Bluegrass while slow probably is best option for self repair but I never thought they have drought tolerant options.
I am not a fan of tall fescue in general and my test areas have shown that low cut also has a weird feel to it under foot. There's plenty of twca options in rye, blue, and fine fescue that have passed vigorous drought testing so I just need to get those in the ground.
