Thanks for your reaction! Geoff was working on a different song for this year's Christmas release but his wife, Kathy, wanted him to do "Carol Of The Bells" in this particular mansion that they rented for 5 hours (and Kathy is the boss!) This epic piece reached one million views in two weeks on You Tube.
Thanks for this reaction to Geoff's epic Christmas release. A little over two weeks after release this one exceeded one million RUclips views on Christmas Eve. I have run out of superlatives! A five octave vocal range is a powerful thing. I enjoy the unexpected ways that Geoff arranges music nearly as much as his vocals. Since Geoff adds all of the instrumentals himself using his keyboard and plug-ins he is a man of many talents. No dolly. Geoff and Kathy were filming using multiple cameras on tripods. They had to decorate, set up, film, and be out of the venue within less than five hours. They filmed the day before Thanksgiving, he "edited like crazy," and released to his patrons three days after filming. Judging by his album art, the Geoffquakes did some damage!
Wait, did he also create the album artwork? It looks so good! Props to him and his wife for crunching the time to make this music video happen. I know it's very time consuming.
@JeffreyHackReacts Of course he did 😀 . He added some Christmas merch to his store a few weeks ago and somebody asked him in his monthly webchat, "Who did your merch art for you?" And he responded something like, "I did, sorry! Y'all know I don't have people." To the best of my knowledge, the only art he has farmed out for his solo channel is his infinite gramophone logo. He had a graphic artist do that for him, and he mentioned recently that he wants to get that same artist to do something more for him that he didn't specify. So, going forward that may or may not hold true.
@@janetdwGeoff is meticulous about crediting everyone who helped him in his video descriptions. If anyone had done the artwork for him, he would have given credit
My first reaction upon seeing this version the first time was "This belongs in a Christmas action movie!" And then I saw it described as "The Die Hard of Christmas carols." Yep. That tracks.💙
Thanks for your reaction 🫶🏻 I love it, that this version brought out the conductor in many reactors 😂👍🏻 I did the same when first hearing it 😅🤷🏻♀️ This arrangement is EPIC ❤ Someone in another comment section compared it to a dragon choir singing Christmas carols 😂 I think that's a very accurate description 🐲👍🏻 Love the creativity in his arrangements, it never gets boring even if the original is repetitive 🙏🏼🫶🏻 I'm not much into all the Christmas stuff and these normal cheesy Christmas songs, but this cover... good Lord... I'm listening to it on repeat since it dropped (literally 😂) 👍🏻
You’ll find that quality acapella singers all have that sharp diction. It’s extremely important in acapella. If you have five people hitting the same word at the same time with different times pronunciations, then all you get is a murky mess.
I keep saying that this is ‘Carol of the Bells’ from up inside the Cathedral Bell Tower. HUGE Bells! Geoff even begins the words in a slower cadence, which reminds me of the first pull on the giant bell. It takes a lot of strength and a bit of time to get that bell ringing. And I’m not the first one that thinks Geoff might have been nodding to the Ukraine War. He specifically tells us the song was originally Ukrainian and then his color scheme is tinted towards Ukraine’s flag even though I know from the BTS that he was actually wearing black not blue. So it ‘seems’ a conscious choice to tilt towards blue. And the Album Art has the big bells fallen to the ground inside the tower. Now Geoff has not actually said he arranged this with Ukraine in mind. But it feels that way to me.
That second "Raising the sound" chord just gets to me every single time, especially where the bass voice came in over time before peaking with the rest. What a masterpiece! And that instrumentation!!! Nice perspective on the video specific review part. Considering they only had the mansion rented for like 5 hours ($$$), the end cut looks pretty darned good.
This is more of a Thunder of the Bells situation! Probably my favorite of his, but everything he does is just so good that they all become my favorites! The last time he sings "o'er hill and dale" where it's building and that luscious chord sequence The whole arrangement is just stellar. This is a RADICAL rendition of this carol, and puts me in mind of the radical Jesus he sings about!
Kathy videoed this in a day at this venue they rented, and it was just the two of them that day. Other than Kathy videoing, he literally did it all pre and post-production! Well, it went off to Ed Boyer after he was done with it just to polish the final audio.
I really love the arrangements and vocals, but am less than enthusiastic about the video - perhaps it's the pacing issue you mention. Despite the beauty of the setting, this video irritated me.
There were some sections where the pacing might have felt a little rushed, but I think the overall video was very well done given the time Geoff had to put everything together. And especially for only being him and his wife.

That is awesome! He and his wife deserve the recognition :)
We loved this so much that he hit over a million views within 18 days of release.
Very cool! Definitely deserves it!

@@vdoyne I always suspected he did it, but I only knew for sure about Ghost Riders in the Sky. But of course he’s also a visual artist🤯.

That is exactly what I was thinking while listening to it only with audio! It has that cinematic feel.

Oooh, interesting info! Thanks! And yeah, these are Quasimodo bells, for sure!💙
Thanks for that information! I didn't realize that his cover resembled any nodding to the Ukraine War. Thank you.
I feel the same way!

Glad you enjoyed the video production perspective :) There's more of that on my Patreon.
Your reaction was so interesting thank you. I especially enjoyed your perspective regarding the visual part of the arrangement.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
In case you didn't notice, this is a Xmas carol... but conceived to shatter the ceiling. Geoff's speciality.
Great video and performance by Jeff!❤
Yes, indeed! Marvelous!
He is amazing!!
Such a great talent 😊
So fun to see your audio reaction first. This song is truly a masterpiece
Happy you enjoyed!
Oh.. yes! So good. Such musical intensity. 🎉🎉

Absolutely epically done. At one month, this is 1.2 million views.
Amazing!
Stumbled onto you cause I LOVE watching people's reactions to Geoff. Want another group to listen to? Try Bass Gang.

Nice! Would you say Ed Boyer is like the mastering engineer?
@@JeffreyHackReacts yeah, he does it for Pentatonix too
😀
We want Faouzia plz ❤
I still have reactions planned for her 😊
Hey this might be a bit of a random one but would you be willing to react to Vylet pony's song 'Play dead'?
I can definitely look into it!
