Cologne Cathedral (Germany) has a bell called Der dicke Pitter (big/fat Pete). It was the biggest free swinging bell for years and only lost this title recently. This bell is only heard on special occasions, like new year. So I went to Cologne on New Years Eve and waited to hear the Dicke Pitter at midnight. And... i didn't hear it because fireworks were way to loud. But standing in front of the cathedral I felt the bell! It has such a deep bass that I felt every stroke of that bell in my stomach. Geoff's voice is like that bell.
I had the same reaction when I first heard this song, and probability have heard this song at least 15 time and every time I get goosebumps. Also I can see this song in a movie about Krampus, coming to get naughty children.

I'm really surprised so few have picked up on the fact that this is a Ukrainian song, Geoff is wearing yellow & blue and as you said the blue/yellow coloring of the lighting. Also the album art screams bells in a war zone. I can't imagine that Geoff wasn't thinking of the horrific situation in the Ukraine when he arranged this song.

New to me was the other name for this song. Until Geoff's notes on this video's page I had never heard it referred to as "The Ukrainian Bell Carol". That 'ominous' feeling you spoke of is I think intentional on Geoff's part to refer to the ongoing war. Can't swear that as he hasn't said so, but that is the way it feels to me. Also - he really got that feeling and sound of the most giant bell you can imagine down right, didn't he? Usually this is down so light and delicate. Instead, this resonates and echoes throughout your body. I totally agree - ominous. And that reminds me just how very fortunate the rest of us are to not be involved in such a war, fighting for our lives and our way of life.
