M2k taking the 1st Shine after SFAT’s massive upsets was a sight. As a Mango fan, Shine 2017 will forever sting. He’s playing a 10/10 the rest punish dashdance is INSANE, then the sd completely changed the momentum. Ofc massive credit to Hbox for taking advantage, but damn 2018 was basically future sight, remember when everyone said Puff beats Marth FOR SURE??🤘🏾 2019 Let’s go 2SJ, and Armada comms!! 2022 was Jmook FINALLY beating Hbox to lose anyway, but sick showing set from Zain & Jmook amazing rivarly, I miss Jmook in Grands This last Shine was scripted
Yeah I remember when jmook beat hbox at shine 2022 it felt like that was the last hurdle he had to overcome to finally manage to win a major, and yet it didn’t happen… Eventually it did so it’s cool but man
@@lightbrand_Honestly, It felt like he didn't beat that good of an Hbox imo, Hbox felt straight hindered because of the tournament not allowing you to go outside and get water, while also not having water in the venue. I still remember Hbox staring down Jmook's water bottle
i'm a local here, and i want to give a story of my favorite memory of shine in 2018, which was the first supermajor i ever went to. i was hogging one of the stream setups because no one was playing on it, and a TO comes up and asks if i wanted to play friendlies. of course, i get destroyed by his fox, but i was happy to play someone with so much experience. after a few games, he lets me know that i need to get off because he's playing his match in tournament, and his opponent was coming up to play. i turn around to see hbox in his prime walking to my chair, and I scramble out of the way to let this poor TO be annihilated by the best melee player in the world (at the time). i never forgot that. thank you, shine.
man, i gave shine too hard a time when it was new. 2016, 2017, 2018 i always thought it was like, a tier below the regular supermajors. but it really was something special. new england's been so significant of a region throughout this whole time too. Shine 2023 was one of the best tournaments i've ever seen. GG shine. you really became something beautiful. thank you for your service.
Something interesting: No spacie player has won at Shine until Light won Ultimate Shine 2023, and then immediately afterwards Cody won Melee Shine 2023 with Fox as well.
Melee had a peak after the pandemic. Now it’s going into a valley after Panda/Nintendo. Next peak we’ll probably see more majors and it could make a comeback, who knows.
@@justsomeguy7042 Melee has been through worse. 2008-2012 was a long dark era. However, the circumstances for that period were not really as drastic and were more a natural turn of events. Some serious healing and picking up the pieces and taking accountability needs to be done, maybe even a change in guard, will need to be in order for Melee and Smash as a whole to reach a new height. Regardless, I know people will always still be playing Melee until the last CRT explodes in the heat death of the universe.
Vish is an amazing commentator and it was so nostalgic hearing him commentate so many sets in a row, RIP Shine and thanks for all of these amazing grand finals.
I got three takeaways from this compilation: 1 - Seeing the variety of the sponsors drop over the years (sad); 2 - Melee audience really hated Hbox (also sad) even though his playstyle hasn't changed over the years; 3 - I think Zain dethroned Mew2King as THE MARTH of all time at this point. Bonus: - Zain aging like fine wine holy crap
idc if it’s physically impossible that i’ve already watched this vid. THIS RUclips VIDEO IS SOOOO GOOD TURNDOWNFORWALT I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!!
I didn't realize Vish has commentated every shine grand finals except for 2023 wow. Makes me realize it's been a minute since I've seen him on commentary hope all is good with him
had no idea until i was in the audience myself that you really just can’t hear the commentators if you’re at the venue lol. sound staging game needs to get a lot better if they’re gonna try to have the commentators talk to the venue
It started with Fox - Marth
It ended with Fox - Marth
Thank you, Shine
can’t make this stuff up
and the last ultimate shine was won by light (Fox)
I'm glad zan was able to win shine 22, he looks like a cool guy, he might even beat zain one day
we had high hopes but Zan really fell off quick

The fact that both tournaments won with Fox?

it’s insane how much better everyone has gotten at Melee in the last few years. it’s night and day seeing gameplay pre-quarantine to now
Newish to the game (know most of the mechanics at least), what are a couple things I should be looking for that improved?

thank you, shine.
I love how every set is either a nail-biter game 5 or the saddest 3-0 ever with no in between.
Seeing M2K and sfat spawn right next to each other and M2K insta-fair him on the way down reminded me that we play on Slippi now
Love how a shine led to the combo that ended the whole legacy. Truly poetic.
Wild that a fox didn't win Shine until the very last one
Fox won in both ultimate & melee 😎
Poetic it ends with a fox win, named after his move after all
I miss Vish 😭

Wait, Vish was commentary for every Shine GF and he wasn't there last night?? Truly tragic
I’m turned up for walt

zan and jaymuck in 2022 GF!!!!
Hope to see this tourney series back in the future
What a trip through memory lane!
M2k walked so Zain could run.
damn i really cant wait to watch this lmao
Why is Shine ending?
Financial issues
I miss M2K...
Nice
ggs
Dude mango fans are cringe af lmaoo
Great compilation! Altho imo it's kinda cringe how people speed melee footage up🙄
Thanks for the laugh bro😂 and thank God for satire
SFAT dreamed big in 2016 so that Cody Schwab could live it out in 2023
Imagine if that last game had been on FD and Cody won it 100% redeeming SFAT 7 years later (he did win in WFs so I guess he still kind of did).
Oh Shine 2022 was the tournament where everyone called him Zan until people gave up lmao
Hoping that Shine comes back one day

And every shine has had Vish or Webs commentating the finals
Comparing the first(2016) Shine grand finals to the last(2023), you can see how far both marth and fox have been pushed. Incredible!
Zain in here 3 times w 3 diff sponsors lol
bring back the crowd mics IMO

What are Mang0 and Kodorin doing in the thumbnail 😂
It's amazing to see the difference in playstyle between SFAT and M2K and Cody and Zain, Zain and Cody are leagues above everyone else.
I forgot about the one tournament that Xan won lol
It's crazy seeing how much the meta-game has changed.

20XX my dudes
Who tf is Zan
Why does shine 2019 have the last 2 games instead?
just for futrure reference you should blur the set count just to make it exciting for newer players who dont know!

i remember watching that first set live and the face jason made after zach took him to FD LMFAO, i cant believe that was 7 years ago
Iconic
Putting 2016 sets in the same video as 2023 sets makes melee look like such a different game.
This years finals were so sick in both melee and ultimate
Next: Last game of every Shine Smash 4 :P
man we should really go back to calling zain zan. why'd we ever stop that. unbiased

why is this the last shine?
Cause Gimr and Allan fucked Smash.
they aren’t able to continue due to losing too much money on it
